2. 3 Lift the swingaway front rigging assembly off the hinge pins Invacare Tracer SX5 Wheelchair 34 Front Rigging Release Lever re M Front Rigging Hinge 2 i Assembly Footplate Swingaway footrest shown FIGURE Installing Removing Front Riggings Part No 1110550 5 FRONT RIGGINGS 5 2 Adjusting Footplate Height Spring Button For this procedure refer to FIGURE 2 on page 35 This procedure applies to the swingaway front riggings and swingaway elevating legrest l Remove the front rigging assembly Refer to Installing Removing Front Riggings on page 34 Lay the front rigging assembly on a flat surface to simplify this procedure 2 Pull the cam lock lever up to unlocked position The elevating legrest has two sets of release buttons one set above the other Each set will be visible one at a time allowing finer footplate height adjustment Front Rigging Support 3 Push in the release buttons and reposition the footplate assembly Release Button to the desired height 4 Ensure that the release buttons fully protrude from holes on both Adjustment Footplat sides of the front rigging support Holes Av Assembly Rotate cam lock lever down to locked position Repeat this procedure for the other footplate if necessary Cam Lock Lever Reinstall the swingaway front rigging assembly Refer to Installing Removing Front Riggings on page 34 Swingaway footrest shown FIGURE 2 Adju

SX5 Wheelchair 2 SAFETY Moving Up Stairs 2 5 6 If necessary rotate the anti tippers so the wheels are facing up One assistant positioned behind the wheelchair securely grasps a non removable non detachable part of the wheelchair for leverage and tilts the wheelchair back to the balance point After the wheelchair has been tilted back to the balance point the assistant behind the wheelchair backs the wheelchair up against the first step The second assistant positioned in the front of the wheelchair with a firm hold on a non detachable part of the framework lifts the wheelchair up and on to the next stair above and steadies the wheelchair as the assistant behind the wheelchair places one foot on the next stair above and repeats process The wheelchair should not be lowered until the last stair has been negotiated and the wheelchair has been rolled away from the stairway If necessary rotate the anti tippers so the wheels are facing down Moving Down Stairs 2 If necessary rotate the anti tippers so the wheels are facing up One assistant positioned behind the wheelchair securely grasps a non removable non detachable part of the wheelchair for leverage and tilts the wheelchair back to the balance point After the wheelchair has been tilted back to the balance point the assistant behind the wheelchair rolls the wheelchair up to the edge of the first step The second assistant positioned in th

Seat Upholstery Invacare Tracer SX5 Wheelchair 44 Part No 1110550 7 2 Adjusting Seat Depth A WARNING 7 SEAT AND BACK The seat depth size position of the front casters size position of the rear wheels use of an anti tipper model as well as the user condition directly relate to the stability of the wheelchair Any change to one or any combination of the seven may cause the wheelchair to decrease in stability These adjustments MUST be performed by a qualified technician l Remove the existing seat upholstery from the wheelchair Refer to Replacing Seat Upholstery on page 44 If adjusting the seat depth of the wheelchair the seat upholstery MUST be changed as well 2 Remove the two plug buttons from the ends of the crossbraces that are towards the front of the wheelchair The two plug buttons will be used in the ends of the seat extensions 3 Install the two seat extension tubes into the ends on the crossbraces Line up the rear mounting hole of the seat extension tube with the second mounting hole from the end of the crossbrace 4 Install the two seat extension spacers onto the two seat extension tubes 5 Install the new seat upholstery onto the wheelchair Make sure to line up the mounting holes in the seat extension tubes and seat extension spacers with the new seat upholstery Refer to Replacing Seat Upholstery on page 44 6 Install plug buttons into the ends of the seat extension spacers Part No 11

15. 50 17 Invacare Tracer SX5 Wheelchair 2 SAFETY Tipping A WARNING DO NOT tip the wheelchair without assistance When lowering the front casters of the wheelchair Do not let the wheelchair drop the last few inches to the ground This could result in injury to the occupant and or damage to the wheelchair When tipping the wheelchair an assistant should grasp the back of the wheelchair on a non removable non detachable part Inform the wheelchair occupant before tipping the wheelchair and remind him her to lean back Be sure the occupant s feet and hands are clear of all wheels and or pinch points After mastering the techniques of tipping the wheelchair use one of the following methods to tackle curbs short stairs etc Method Wheelchair With Step Tubes Place foot on the step tube and begin to tilt the wheelchair toward you Apply a continuous downward motion until the balance point is achieved and the front casters clear the curb At this point the assistant will feel a difference in the weight distribution Roll the wheelchair forward and slowly lower the front of the wheelchair in one continuous movement onto the sidewalk Push the wheelchair forward until the rear wheels roll up and over the Step Tube curb FIGURE 2 Method Wheelchair With Step Tubes Invacare Tracer SX5 Wheelchair 18 Part No 1110550 Method 2 Wheelchair Without Step Tubes This method requires two assistants The second assistant should
