1. Long periods of HOT weather require longer chlorinator operation time because the higher water temperature and increased sunlight break the chlorine produced by your SPLASHCHLOR down more quickly To be sure that your SPLASHCHLOR is being run for long enough check your pool chlorine level regularly If the chlorine reading is low turn the chlorine output dial up higher clockwise and or run the chlorinator and pool pump for longer If the chlorine reading is high turn the chlorine output dial down lower anticlockwise or reduce the chlorinator and pool pump operating time It is recommended that your SPLASHCHLOR is run for a few hours in the evening and a few hours in the morning Superchlorination can be achieved by running your SPLASHCHLOR overnight This practice is recommended about once per fortnight during summer v CELL LIFE Your cell is a delicate piece of equipment and needs to be maintained correctly There are several key points that need to be followed to avoid premature failure of your cell 1 Ensure your pool water is correctly chemically balanced a pH level is 7 2 to 7 6 b Total alkalinity of 60 200 ppm 2 Never scrape any contamination or deposit from the electrodes as this will void warranty 3 Never operate with salt levels below 4000 ppm particularly in winter and after high rainfall periods as this will void warranty Ideal salt level 4000 6000 ppm 4 Do not add salt through the skimmer box only add d
2. box All chemicals should be added in small quantities checking the chemistry change after each addition Following this procedure prevents addition of too much chemical and the problems associated with correcting such errors viii Backwashing When backwashing filter turn salt cell to the off position REMEMBER to turn cell back to on when finished backwashing vii No Flow Indicator When the no flow indicator is lit up this indicates that the cell is not sensing proper water flow and for safety purposes the SPLASHCHLOR has ceased to produce chlorine until the problem is resolved Indicator light will turn off See SECTION E for troubleshooting SECTION D TO CHECK CHLORINE PRODUCTION If you suspect that your SPLASHCHLOR is not making chlorine this can easily be checked by a Whilst the pump is running and the chlorinator is turned on using your pools test kit take a water sample as close as possible to the water return nozzle The sample should be taken by placing your thumb over the sample tube placing the sample tube in the return stream and removing your thumb to ensure that you are testing water coming from the chlorinator Take a chlorine reading b Take another sample as far as possible from the pool return and take another chlorine reading c Compare the readings obtained in a amp b The reading from a should be much greater that that of b d Adjust the chlorine output control to ensure fre

10. irectly to pool water vi CLEANING THE CELL non self cleaning models only Your SPLASHCHLOR cell operates only efficiently when it is clean The cell should be checked for cleanliness about every two weeks but should require cleaning every 4 weeks To check your cell for cleanliness disconnect the mains power supply unscrew the nut at the top of the cell housing and remove the cell electrode A dirty electrode will have visible deposits of calcium and other matter built up SECTION C IMPORTANT To clean the cell immerse the electrode in a CELL CLEANER OBTAINABLE FROM YOUR LOCAL POOL SHOP b Cleaning the cell by any other method invalidates this warranty refer to PAGE 10 11 c Breakdown of the cell can be influenced by the following i Water chlorinated with calcium hypochlorite ii Calcium hardness of your pool water iii pH control iv Water temperature Including solar v Low salt level Never below 4000 ppm vii Adding Chemical After initial dosing of salt and stabiliser top up quantities should only be needed when the pool water is diluted with freshwater This will only occur after rain or additions of water by the pool owner Test your pool water for salt and stabiliser cyanuric acid levels before adding these two chemicals Other chemicals should be added as indicated by pool chemical tests Pool chemistry should be checked at least each week during summer months DO NOT add chemicals directly into skimmer
