Perrigo Australia USER GUIDE page ie RIOTANE CHLORHEXIDINE 0 5 IN ALCOHOL 70 Composition Chlorhexidine Gluconate 0 5 in Alcohol B P 70 tinted pink Actions Chlorhexidine is a disinfectant which is effective against a wide range of vegetative Gram positive and Gram negative bacteria It is ineffective against acid fast bacteria bacterial spores fungi and viruses It is more effective against Gram positive than Gram negative bacteria some species of Pseudomonas and Proteus being relatively less susceptible Chlorhexidine is most active at a neutral or slightly alkaline pH and its activity is reduced by blood and other organic matter Alcohol has bactericidal actions against most vegetative organisms It is not effective against viruses and spores It acts relatively quickly to denature cellular proteins of microorganisms and lower their surface tension thus facilitating their removal It also has useful solvent properties and will dissolve many water insoluble substances including sebum Use Riotane Chlorhexidine 0 5 in Alcohol 70 is a hospital grade disinfectant Safety Directions Not to be taken Not for injection Not for internal use Avoid contact with the eyes Alcoholic solutions are flammable e Avoid pooling on surfaces e Do not use near a naked flame or other ignition source Directions for Use Use undiluted All surfaces must be pre cleaned first otherwise this disinfectant may not be effective Do not use
