9. be care ful when handling inserting or removing the card e Before installing the SIM card always make sure that the phone is switched off and then remove the battery 1 At the back of the phone press the locking catch of the battery 1 slide the battery downwards 2 and lift it 3 off the phone 4 Close the cover of the SIM card reader 7 and slide the card holder back to keep the card in its place 8 2 Open the cover for the SIM card reader by sliding it in the direction Open 4 and lift ing it 5 5 Attach the battery by placing it on the back of the phone and sliding it upwards until it locks into place Copyright 2004 Nokia All rights reserved 9 Chargi ng the Battery 4 Disconnect the charger from the AC outlet and the phone 1 Connect the lead from the charger to the bot If Not charging is displayed charging is sus tom of the phone pended Wait for a while disconnect the charger plug it in again and retry If charging still fails contact your dealer For more information see the Battery Informa tion chapter 2 Connect the charger to an AC wall outlet and the battery indicator bar starts to scroll The Charging text is briefly dis played if the phone is switched on The phone can be used while charg ing if the phone is on Cup Note If the battery is totally flat it may take a few minutes before the charging indication appears on the display
