Servicing and Maintenance Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations LOLER 1998 were made under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 LOLER 1998 applies to any item of lifting equipment Based upon British and European Standard BS EN 10535 and Health and Safety Executive guidance Chiltern Invadex recommend that hoists are fully serviced including a load test at least every 12 months with an interim six monthly inspection to conform to LOLER 1998 requirements Refer to your supplier for alternative local regulations that may apply Chiltern Invadex Portable Hoist Using the controls Attachment Hook Room to room Transfer Hook Integral Carrying Handle Charging Socket Power on off Switch Connecting the Hand control to the Hoist Unit User Guide Three Button Hand control used on Wispa Hoist Models Dual controls The Wispa Lite Portable Hoist can be operated by the controls on the hand control or from the hoist cover Operating the controls on the hand control and hoist cover The lifting and lowering functions are controlled by the up and down buttons The reset button is used in the event of a hoist malfunction see troubleshooting guide page 15 Hand control operation Note The hand control is a sealed low voltage unit completely safe to use with wet hands 4 Lowering Lifting Operation using controls on hoist cover Charging Socket Power On Off Switch Hand Control Socket

This will make the first swinger tape slack as Fig 6 Detach the first swinger tape from the hoist as Fig 7 This will leave the hoist in the second room set up for standard operation as Fig 8 Chiltern Invadex Portable Hoist Charging the Wispa Lite Portable Hoists are designed to offer flexible working over a number of fixed tracks or gantry systems To ensure maximum flexibility it is VERY important to charge the hoist after use Before using the Wispa Lite Portable Hoist ensure the battery is adequately charged by charging for a minimum of 2 hours SAFETY NOTE IMPORTANT Only use the charger supplied with the Wispa Lite Portable Hoist We recommend that you leave the hoiston chargeat all times when not being used The batteries of the hoist cannot be overcharged This does not waste energy as the hoistonly takes up charge when it needs to Taking this action will prevent the early deterioration of the batteries and minimise the number of low battery warnings see below To charge the batteries 1 Plug the charger into the mains 2 Turn on the mains 3 Turn the hoist on using power on off switch see page 4 4 Connect the charged output plug into charging socket on the hoist unit Charge Indications Initially a solid red LED see page 5 indicates bulk charge This changes to a flashing green to indicate trickle charge and the hoist is available for use as

7. duct The Wispa Lite Portable hoist has been designed to lift and transfer a disabled person with the help of a carer It should be used in conjunction with a Wispa sling and other lifting accessories from the Chiltern Invadex range as assessed by a trained person Note Not all slings and accessories are compatible with the hoist If you are unsure please contact your nearest Chiltern Invadex Office The correct and appropriate use of this product will reduce the risks associated with manual patient handling The lifting transferring task should be assessed by a trained person Recommended working procedures Portable Hoists are designed to offer flexible working over a number of fixed tracks or gantry systems To ensure maximum flexibility the Wispa Lite should be placed on charge when not in use The Wispa Lite charger will switch itself off when the batteries are in a fully charged state The complete charging procedure is shown on page 12 Safety Considerations Before you start e Ensure that all users read this guide before operating the hoist e Do not operate the Wispa Lite Portable Hoist without training in the safe operation of the hoist and slings e Only use slings which have been assessed as suitable by a trained person e The Wispa Lite Portable Hoist should not be used if there is fraying or stitch damage to the lifting tape lanyard slings or if the hoist itself is damaged in any way e Read the relevant Sling Us
8. e Hoist Warranty Your Chiltern Invadex Portable Hoist carries a 2 year warranty from the date of purchase subject to the following 1 Should you experience any problems with our workmanship or materials within the first 2 year period please contact your point of purchase 2 Repairs made during the warranty period will be carried out free of charge provided the product has been used strictly in accordance with the guidelines set out in this user guide 3 Our warranty does not cover replacements adjustments or repairs which may be required as a result of normal wear and tear wilful or accidental damage misuse neglect or any other cause which is beyond the control of Chiltern Invadex 4 Modifications and repairs made to this product by unauthorised persons will render the warranty void 5 Only parts manufactured or approved by Chiltern Invadex shall be used to repair this product Use of unauthorised parts will invalidate all warranties and remove all liability from Chiltern Invadex for the safety of this product 6 Chiltern Invadex shall in no event be liable for any damages costs or expenses arising from any claim made under this warranty save for any legal liability of Chiltern Invadex for death or personal injury resulting from the company s negligence in respect of its products 7 This warranty does not affect your statutory consumer rights 8 The hoist being fully serviced including a load test at least

13. rap frrom coming loose as 2 below Sling straps should be attached to the hoist s sling support arms in the same order on each side to ensure the sling occupant is lifted evenly Whilst using the hoist care should be taken to ensure the body of the Wispa Lite Portable is kept at a distance from the sling occupant to avoid potential anxiety or discomfort Chiltern Invadex Portable Hoist Room to room transfer In normal operation the hoist set up should be as Fig 1 with the swinger kit not attached to the hoist room to room lug For room to room operation the swinger kit hook should be attached to the hoist room to room lug as Fig 2 The hoist should then be lowered to provide slack on the main hoist lifting tape as Fig 3 Note Press the down button on the hand control or on the hoist case until the hoist stops on its own The main lifting tape should then be detached from the trolley set in the first room and attached to the trolley set in the second room as Fig 4 Note If the tape is not long enough pull the tape out of the case while pressing the down button on the hand control or hoist case Stop when sufficient tape has been released User Guide Room to room transfer cont Using the hand control power the hoist UP as Fig 5
