1. 0141 201 Quality Manager 0405 Locations Offices the Pathology Department Offices are located on the first floor of the RHSC Laboratory the Pathology Laboratory is based in the basement of the Laboratory Block Entrance is from the car park level on the south side of the Laboratory Block Mortuary Postmortem room the Mortuary and Postmortem facilities are located adjacent to the Pathology Laboratory Range of Services Available Surgical biopsies Postmortem examinations Special techniques histochemistry electron microscopy immunohistochemistry in situ hybridisation cytology including fine needle aspiration cytology cilial beat frequency Specialist services neuropathology forensic medicine Other facilities Thistle chapel viewing room parents room Turnaround times Hospital postmortems 90 in 30 days any delays beyond this are audited Placentas 90 in 30 days Surgical biopsies 90 in 10 days Surgical biopsy pathology Histological and frozen section diagnosis of biopsy and resection specimens Postmortem examinations Regional postmortem services in perinatal and paediatric pathology comprising examinations of therapeutic terminations of pregnancy stillbirths neonatal deaths childhood deaths and adolescent deaths The examinations are conducted to determine cause of death exclude developmental anomalies and provide a basis for genetic counselling and clinical audit In addition services
