Start the workout Press the Start button or the Quick Speed increase button to start the workout A moment after you press the button the treadmill will automatically adjust to the first speed and incline settings of the workout Hold the handrails and begin walking Each workout is divided into segments One speed setting and one incline setting are programmed for each segment Note The same speed setting and or incline setting may be programmed for consecu tive segments During the workout the profile will show your progress The flashing segment of the profile represents the current segment of the work out The height of the flashing segment indicates the speed setting for the current segment At the end of each segment a series of tones will sound and the next segment of the profile will begin to flash If a new speed and or incline setting is programmed for the next segment the new speed and or incline setting will appear in the displays for a few seconds and the treadmill will automatically adjust to the new speed and or incline setting Current Segment 21 The workout will continue in this way until the last segment of the profile flashes in the display and the last segment ends The walking belt will then slow to a stop Note The calorie goal is an estimate of the number of calories that you will burn during the workout The actual number of calories that you burn will depend on various factors such as yo
5. ing heart rate trends in general These guidelines will help you to plan your exercise program For detailed exercise information obtain a reputable book or consult your physician Remember proper nutrition and adequate rest are essential for successful results EXERCISE INTENSITY Whether your goal is to burn fat or to strengthen your cardiovascular system exercising at the proper inten sity is the key to achieving results You can use your heart rate as a guide to find the proper intensity level The chart below shows recommended heart rates for fat burning and aerobic exercise 165 155 145 140 130 125 115 145 138 130 125 118 110 103 125 120 115 110 105 95 90 vw 20 30 40 50 60 70 80 To find the proper intensity level find your age at the bottom of the chart ages are rounded off to the near est ten years The three numbers listed above your age define your training zone The lowest number is the heart rate for fat burning the middle number is the heart rate for maximum fat burning and the highest number is the heart rate for aerobic exercise 29 Burning Fat To burn fat effectively you must exer cise at a low intensity level for a sustained period of time During the first few minutes of exercise your body uses carbohydrate calories for energy Only after the first few minutes of exercise does your body begin to use stored fat calories for energy If your goal is to burn fat adjust the intensity
6. of your exercise until your heart rate is near the lowest number in your training zone For maximum fat burning exercise with your heart rate near the middle number in your training zone Aerobic Exercise lf your goal is to strengthen your cardiovascular system you must perform aerobic exercise which is activity that requires large amounts of oxygen for prolonged periods of time For aerobic exercise adjust the intensity of your exercise until your heart rate is near the highest number in your training zone WORKOUT GUIDELINES Warming Up Start with 5 to 10 minutes of stretch ing and light exercise A warm up increases your body temperature heart rate and circulation in preparation for exercise Training Zone Exercise Exercise for 20 to 30 min utes with your heart rate in your training zone During the first few weeks of your exercise program do not keep your heart rate in your training zone for longer than 20 minutes Breathe regularly and deeply as you exercise never hold your breath Cooling Down Finish with 5 to 10 minutes of stretch ing Stretching increases the flexibility of your muscles and helps to prevent post exercise problems EXERCISE FREQUENCY To maintain or improve your condition complete three workouts each week with at least one day of rest between workouts After a few months of regular exer cise you may complete up to five workouts each week if desired Remember the key to succes

ER THE TREADMILL FOR USE on page 25 18 Make sure that all parts are properly tightened before you use the treadmill If there are sheets of plastic on the treadmill decals remove the plastic To protect the floor or carpet place a mat under the treadmill Note Extra parts may be included Keep the included hex key in a secure place the hex key is used to adjust the walking belt see pages 27 and 28 15 THE CHEST HEART RATE MONITOR HOW TO PUT ON THE HEART RATE MONITOR The heart rate monitor consists of a chest strap anda sensor Insert the tab on one end of the chest strap into the hole in one end of the sensor as shown Then press the end of the sen sor under the buckle on the chest strap The tab should be flush with the front of the sensor Chest Strap Tabs The heart rate moni Sensor Buckle tor must be worn under your clothes tight against your skin Wrap the heart rate monitor around your chest in the location shown Make sure that the logo is right side up Then attach the other end of the chest strap to the sensor Adjust the length of the chest strap if necessary Pull the sensor away from your body a few inches and locate the two electrode areas which are covered by shallow ridges Using saline solution such as saliva or contact lens solution wet the electrode areas Then return the sensor to a position against your chest CARE AND MAINTENANCE Thoroughly dry the sensor w

PERLY THE CONSOLE MAY BECOME DAMAGED WHEN YOU TURN ON THE POWER Then remove the wire tie from the Upright Wire 13 Set the console assembly on the Handrails 79 Make sure that no wires are pinched Insert Console the excess Upright Wire 91 behind the Console Assembly Frame 101 Attach the console assembly to the brackets on the Handrails 79 with the four 5 16 x 5 8 Screws 11 that you removed in step 9 Do not tighten the Screws yet 13 14 Attach the Pulse Crossbar 81 to the console assembly with six 8 x 1 2 Screws 1 Start all Console six Screws and then tighten them Assembly Firmly tighten the four 5 16 x 5 8 Screws 11 15 Firmly tighten the four 3 8 x 2 3 4 Screws 22 and then tighten the four 3 8 x 1 1 4 Screws 3 only one side is shown Press the Left Base Cover 88 and the Right Base Cover not shown onto the Base 29 until they snap into place 14 16 Raise the Frame 57 to the position shown Have a second person hold the Frame until step 17 is completed Orient the Storage Latch 54 so that the large barrel and the latch knob are oriented as shown Remove any ties from the end of the Storage Latch 54 Attach the lower end of the Storage Latch to the Base 29 with a 3 8 x 2 Bolt 2 and a 3 8 Nut 9 17 Attach the upper end of the Storage Latch 54 to the Frame 57 with a 3 8 x 2 Bolt 2 and a 3 8 Nut 9 Lower the Frame 57 see HOW TO LOW
11. ace a mat under the treadmill Keep the treadmill out of direct sunlight Do not leave the treadmill in the storage position in temperatures above 85 F 30 C 25 Before moving the treadmill fold it as described at the left CAUTION Make sure that the latch knob is locked in the storage position Moving the treadmill may require two people 1 Hold the frame and one of the handrails and place one foot against a wheel Pull back on the handrail until the treadmill will roll on the wheels and carefully move it to the desired location CAUTION Do not move the treadmill without tipping it back do not pull on the frame and do not move the treadmill over an uneven surface Place one foot against a wheel and carefully lower the treadmill HOW TO LOWER THE TREADMILL FOR USE 1 See drawing 2 Hold the upper end of the treadmill with your right hand Then pull the latch knob to the left and hold it IMPORTANT Do not turn the latch knob If necessary push the frame forward slightly Pivot the frame downward a few inches and release the latch knob See drawing 1 at the left Hold the metal frame firmly with both hands and lower it to the floor CAUTION Do not hold the frame by the plastic foot rails and do not drop the frame Bend your legs and keep your back straight TROUBLESHOOTING Most treadmill problems can be solved by follow ing the simple steps below Find the symptom that applies and follow the ste

15. d to work with people who have normal heart rhythms Heart rate reading problems may be caused by medical condi tions such as premature ventricular contractions pvcs tachycardia bursts and arrhythmia The operation of the heart rate monitor can be affected by magnetic interference from high power lines or other sources If you suspect that magnetic interference is causing a problem try relocating the fitness equipment OPERATION AND ADJUSTMENT HOW TO PLUG IN THE POWER CORD This product must be earthed If it should malfunc tion or break down earthing provides a path of least resistance for electric current to reduce the risk of electric shock This product s power cord has an equipment earthing conductor and an earthing plug IMPORTANT If the power cord is damaged it must be replaced with a manufacturer recommended power cord A DANGER Improper connection of the equipment earthing conductor can result in an increased risk of electric shock Check with a qualified electrician or serviceman if you are in doubt as to whether the product is properly earthed Do not modify the plug provided with the product if it will not fit the outlet have a proper outlet installed by a qualified electrician 17 Follow the steps below to plug in the power cord 1 Plug the indicated end of the power cord into the socket on the treadmill Socket on Treadmill CSS 2 Plug the power cord into an appropriate outlet that
16. e console Press the Enter button to select the manual mode or the iFit mode as the start mode CHECK WIFI Press the Enter button The center display will show the software version number the network SSID the network encryption type the wireless signal strength the IP address of the module the number of registered users and their names and the results of the DNS lookup To return to the information mode remove the key from the console and repeat the instructions near the beginning of this page SEND OBTAIN DATA To send and receive work outs workout logs and updates press the Enter button When the process is finished the words TRANSFERS DONE will appear in the display Exit the information mode To exit the information mode remove the key from the console HOW TO FOLD AND MOVE THE TREADMILL HOW TO MOVE THE TREADMILL HOW TO FOLD THE TREADMILL To avoid damaging the treadmill adjust the incline to zero before you fold the treadmill Then remove the key and unplug the power cord CAUTION You must be able to safely lift 45 Ibs 20 kg to raise lower or move the treadmill 1 Hold the metal frame firmly in the location shown by the arrow below CAUTION Do not hold the frame by the plastic foot rails Bend your legs and keep your back straight 2 Raise the frame until the latch knob locks in the storage position CAUTION Make sure that the latch knob locks To protect the floor or carpet pl
17. equired 1 Insert the key into the console See HOW TO TURN ON THE POWER on page 19 2 Insert the iFit module into the console To insert the iFit module see the instructions included with the iFit module IMPORTANT To satisfy exposure compliance requirements the antenna and transmitter in the iFit module must be at least 8 in 20 cm from all persons and must not be near or con nected to any other antenna or transmitter Select a user If more than one user is registered you can switch users in the iFit main screen Press the increase and decrease buttons next to the Enter button to select a user Select an iFit workout To select an iFit workout press one of the iFit buttons Before some workouts will download you must add them to your schedule on www iFit com Press the Map button the Train button or the Lose Wt button to download the next workout of that type in your schedule Press the Compete button to compete in a race that you have previously scheduled To re run a recent iFit workout from your schedule first press the Track button Next press the in crease and decrease buttons to select the desired workout Then press the Enter button to start the workout Note If there are no workouts of the selected type in your schedule the next workout in your schedule will be downloaded For more information on the iFit workouts please see www iFit com 22 When you select an iFit workout the dis
18. ff the demo mode hold down the Stop button for a few seconds If the displays remain lit see THE INFORMATION MODE on page 24 to turn off the demo mode Next stand on the foot rails of the treadmill Find the clip attached to the key and slide the clip onto the waistband of your clothes Then insert the key into the console After a moment the displays will light IMPORTANT In an emer gency the key can be pulled from the console causing the walking belt to slow to a stop Test the clip by carefully taking a few steps backward if the key is not pulled from the console adjust the position of the clip 4 19 HOW TO USE THE MANUAL MODE Insert the key into the console See HOW TO TURN ON THE POWER at the left Select the manual mode If the manual mode is not already selected press the Manual button to select the manual mode Start the walking belt To start the walking belt press the Start button the Quick Speed increase button or one of the Quick Speed buttons numbered 2 through 22 If you press the Start button or the Quick Speed increase button the walking belt will begin to move at 2 Km H As you exercise change the speed of the walking belt as desired by pressing the Quick Speed increase and decrease buttons Each time you press one of the buttons the speed setting will change by 0 1 Km H if you hold down the button the speed setting will change in increments of 0 5 Km H Note After you press the
19. is properly installed and earthed in accordance with all local codes and ordinances Australia CONSOLE DIAGRAM GRADE 15 13 QUICK INCLINE lt gt FEATURES OF THE CONSOLE The treadmill console offers an impressive array of features designed to make your workouts more effec tive and enjoyable When you use the manual mode you can change the speed and incline of the treadmill with the touch of a button As you exercise the console will display instant exercise feedback You can even measure your heart rate using the handgrip heart rate monitor or the chest heart rate monitor In addition the console features a selection of onboard workouts Each workout automatically controls the speed and incline of the treadmill as it guides you through an effective exercise session You can also set a calorie time or distance goal The console also features an Fit mode that enables the treadmill to communicate with your wireless network through the included Fit module With the iFit mode you can download personalized workouts create your own workouts track your workout results race against other Fit users and access many other features O PULSE SPEED 6 ARD INTENSITY OUTS a N m m O 05 You can even listen to your favorite workout music or audio books with the console s sound system while you exercise To turn on the power see page 19 To use the manual mode see page 19 To use an
20. ith a soft towel after each use Moisture may keep the sensor activated shortening the life of the battery Store the heart rate monitor in a warm dry place Do not store the heart rate monitor in a plastic bag or other container that may trap moisture Do not expose the heart rate monitor to direct sun light for extended periods of time do not expose it to temperatures above 122 F 50 C or below 14 F 10 C Do not excessively bend or stretch the sensor when using or storing the heart rate monitor To clean the sensor use a damp cloth and a small amount of mild soap Then wipe the sensor with a damp cloth and thoroughly dry it with a soft towel Never use alcohol abrasives or chemicals to clean the sensor Hand wash and air dry the chest strap TROUBLESHOOTING If the heart rate monitor does not function properly try the steps below 16 Make sure that you are wearing the heart rate moni tor as described at the left If the heart rate monitor does not function when positioned as described move it slightly lower or higher on your chest f heart rate readings are not displayed until you begin perspiring rewet the electrode areas Forthe console to display heart rate readings you must be within arm s length of the console fthere is a battery cover on the back of the sensor replace the battery with a new battery of the same type he heart rate monitor is designe

27. ove the key and UNPLUG THE POWER CORD Using the hex key turn both idler roller screws clockwise 1 4 of a turn When the walk ing belt is correctly tightened you should be able to lift each edge of the walking belt 2 to 3 in 5 to IMPORTANT If the walking belt rubs against the foot rails the walking belt may become damaged a First remove the key and UNPLUG THE POWER CORD If the walking belt has shifted to the left use the hex key to turn the left idler roller screw clockwise 1 2 of a turn if the walking belt has 7 cm off the walking platform Be careful to keep the walking belt centered Then plug in the power cord insert the key and carefully walk on the treadmill for a few minutes Repeat until the walk shifted to the right turn the left idler roller screw ing belt is properly tightened counterclockwise 1 2 of a turn Be careful not to overtighten the walking belt Then plug in the power cord insert the key and run the treadmill for a few minutes Repeat until the walking belt is centered 7 Foot Rails 28 EXERCISE GUIDELINES A WARNING Before beginning this or any exercise program consult your physi cian This is especially important for persons over age 35 or persons with pre existing health problems The heart rate monitor is not a medical device Various factors may affect the accuracy of heart rate readings The heart rate monitor is intended only as an exercise aid in determin
