3. 125 118 110 103 Y 110 105 95 90 vw 20 30 40 50 60 70 80 To find the proper intensity level find your age at the bottom of the chart ages are rounded off to the near est ten years The three numbers listed above your age define your training zone The lowest number is the heart rate for fat burning the middle number is the heart rate for maximum fat burning and the highest number is the heart rate for aerobic exercise 30 Burning Fat To burn fat effectively you must exer cise at a low intensity level for a sustained period of time During the first few minutes of exercise your body uses carbohydrate calories for energy Only after the first few minutes of exercise does your body begin to use stored fat calories for energy If your goal is to burn fat adjust the intensity of your exercise until your heart rate is near the lowest number in your training zone For maximum fat burning exercise with your heart rate near the middle number in your training zone Aerobic Exercise If your goal is to strengthen your cardiovascular system you must perform aerobic exercise which is activity that requires large amounts of oxygen for prolonged periods of time For aerobic exercise adjust the intensity of your exercise until your heart rate is near the highest number in your training zone WORKOUT GUIDELINES Warming Up Start with 5 to 10 minutes of stretch ing and light exercise A warm up increases your body

Insert the key into the console See HOW TO TURN ON THE POWER on page 18 Select an onboard workout To select an onboard workout press the Calorie button the Incline button the Intensity button or the Speed button repeatedly until the desired work out appears in the display 20 When you select an onboard workout the display will show the duration of the workout and the name of the workout In addition a profile of the speed settings of the workout will appear in the matrix If you select a calorie workout the approximate num ber of calories you will burn will appear in the name of the workout Start the workout Press the Start button or the Speed increase button to start the workout A moment after you press the button the treadmill will automatically adjust to the first speed and incline settings of the workout Hold the handrails and begin walking Each workout is divided into segments One speed setting and one incline setting are programmed for each segment Note The same speed setting and or incline setting may be programmed for con secutive segments AAAA TT III HI TT TTT PAL _ as a A P Current Segment During the workout the profiles on the speed and incline tabs will show your progress The flash ing segment of the profile represents the current segment of the workout The height of the flashing segment indicates the speed or incline setting for the current
6. display will show the total number of hours that the treadmill has been used and the total number of kilometers or miles that the walking belt has moved Select the optional screens While the settings mode is selected the matrix will display several optional screens Press the decrease button next to the Enter button to select each of the following screens UNITS To change the unit of measurement press the Enter button To view distance in miles select ENGLISH To view distance in kilometers select METRIC DEMO The console features a display demo mode designed to be used if the treadmill is dis played in a store While the demo mode is turned on the console will function normally when you plug in the power cord press the power switch into the reset position and insert the key into the console However when you remove the key the displays will remain lit although the buttons will not function If the demo mode is turned on the word ON will appear in the matrix To turn on or turn off the demo mode press the Enter button 24 CONTRAST Press the Incline increase and decrease buttons to adjust the contrast level of the display If a module is connected you may also select the following screen TRAINER VOICE To turn on or turn off the audio coach press the Enter button DEFAULT MENU The default menu will appear when you insert the key into the console or when you press the Home button Press the Ente

8. is turned on To turn off the demo mode hold down the Stop button for a few seconds If the displays remain lit see THE SETTINGS MODE on page 24 to turn off the demo mode Next stand on the foot rails of the treadmill Find the clip attached to the key and slide the clip onto the waist band of your clothes Then insert the key into the console After a moment the displays will light IMPORTANT In an emergency the key can be pulled from the console causing the walking belt to slow to a stop Test the clip by carefully taking a few steps backward if the key is not pulled from the console adjust the position of the clip 18 HOW TO USE THE MANUAL MODE 1 4 Insert the key into the console See HOW TO TURN ON THE POWER at the left Select the manual mode If the manual mode is not selected press the Manual button on the console Start the walking belt To start the walking belt press the Start button the Speed increase button or one of the Speed but tons numbered 2 through 22 If you press the Start button or the Speed increase button the walking belt will begin to move at 2 Km H As you exercise change the speed of the walking belt as desired by pressing the Speed increase and decrease buttons Each time you press one of the buttons the speed setting will change by 0 1 Km H if you hold down the button the speed setting will change more quickly Note After you press the button it may take a
9. is running Always remove the key press the power switch into the off position see the drawing on page 5 for the location of the power switch and unplug the power cord when the treadmill is not in use Do not attempt to move the treadmill until it is properly assembled See ASSEMBLY on page 7 and HOW TO FOLD AND MOVE THE TREADMILL on page 26 You must be able to safely lift 45 Ibs 20 kg to move the treadmill When folding or moving the treadmill make sure that the storage latch is holding the frame securely in the storage position Do not change the incline of the treadmill by placing objects under the treadmill 24 25 26 27 Never insert any object into any opening on the treadmill Inspect and properly tighten all parts of the treadmill regularly DANGER Always unplug the power cord immediately after use before clean ing the treadmill and before performing the maintenance and adjustment procedures described in this manual Never remove the motor hood unless instructed to do so by an authorized service representative Servicing other than the procedures in this manual should be performed by an authorized ser vice representative only Over exercising may result in serious injury or death If you feel faint if you become short of breath or if you experience pain while exercising stop immediately and cool down SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE YOU BEGIN Thank you for selecting the revolut
10. mode see page 18 To use an onboard workout see page 20 To use a set a goal workout see page 21 To use a pulse workout see page 22 To use an iFit workout see page 23 To use the sound system see page 24 To use the settings mode see page 24 Note The console can display speed and distance in either miles or kilometers To find which unit of mea surement is selected see THE SETTINGS MODE on page 24 For simplicity all instructions in this section refer to kilometers IMPORTANT If there are sheets of plastic on the console remove the plastic To prevent damage to the walking platform wear clean athletic shoes while using the treadmill The first time you use the treadmill observe the alignment of the walking belt and center the walking belt if necessary see page 29 HOW TO TURN ON THE POWER IMPORTANT If the treadmill has been exposed to cold temperatures allow it to warm to room tem perature before you turn on the power If you do not do this you may damage the console displays or other electrical components Plug in the power cord see page 16 Next locate the power switch on the tread mill frame near the power cord Press the power switch into the reset position IMPORTANT The console features a display demo mode designed to be used if the treadmill is dis played in a store If the displays light as soon as you plug in the power cord and press the power switch into the reset position the demo mode
11. moment for the walking belt to reach the selected speed setting If you press one of the numbered Speed buttons the walking belt will gradually change speed until it reaches the selected speed setting To stop the walking belt press the Stop button The time will begin to flash in the display To restart the walking belt press the Start button or the Speed increase button Change the incline of the treadmill as desired To change the incline of the treadmill press the Incline increase or decrease button or one of the numbered Incline buttons Each time you press one of the buttons the treadmill will gradually adjust to the selected incline setting Follow your progress with the displays As you walk or run on the treadmill the display can show the following workout information The elapsed time The distance that you have walked or run The workout intensity bar The approximate number of calories you have burned The incline level of the treadmill The number of vertical meters you have climbed The speed of the walking belt Your heart rate see step 6 e The matrix The matrix offers several display tabs Press the increase and decrease buttons next to the Enter button until the desired tab is shown The Incline tab will show a profile of the incline set tings of the workout A new segment will appear at the end of each minute The Speed tab will show a profile of the speed settings of the workout
12. there are sheets of plastic on the treadmill decals remove the plastic To protect the floor or carpet place a mat under the treadmill To avoid damage to the console keep the treadmill out of direct sunlight Keep the included hex keys in a secure place one of the hex keys is used to adjust the walking belt see pages 28 and 29 Note Extra parts may be included 14 THE CHEST HEART RATE MONITOR HOW TO PUT ON THE HEART RATE MONITOR The heart rate monitor consists of a chest strap and a sensor Insert the tab on one end of the chest strap into the hole in one end of the sensor as shown Then press the end of the sen sor under the buckle on the chest strap The tab should be flush with the front of the sensor Chest Strap Tabs The heart rate moni sensor Buckle tor must be worn under your clothes tight against your skin Wrap the heart rate monitor around your chest in the location shown Make sure that the logo is right side up Then attach the other end of the chest strap to the sensor Adjust the length of the chest strap if necessary Pull the sensor away from your body a few inches and locate the two electrode areas which are covered by shallow ridges Using saline solution such as saliva or contact lens solution wet the electrode areas Then return the sensor to a position against your chest CARE AND MAINTENANCE e Thoroughly dry the sensor with a soft towel after each use Moi

F 30 C 26 MAINTENANCE AND TROUBLESHOOTING MAINTENANCE Regularly clean the treadmill and keep the walking belt clean and dry First press the power switch into the off position and unplug the power cord Wipe exterior parts of the treadmill with a damp cloth and a small amount of mild soap IMPORTANT Do not spray liquids directly onto the treadmill To avoid damage to the console keep liquids away from the console Then thoroughly dry the treadmill with a soft towel TROUBLESHOOTING Most treadmill problems can be solved by following the simple steps below Find the symptom that applies and follow the steps listed If further assis tance is needed see the front cover of this manual SYMPTOM The power does not turn on a Make sure that the power cord is plugged into a properly earthed outlet see page 16 If an exten sion cord is needed use only a 3 conductor 14 gauge 1 mm cord that is no longer than 5 ft 1 5 m b After the power cord has been plugged in make sure that the key is inserted into the console c Check the power switch located on the treadmill frame near the power cord If the switch protrudes as shown the switch has tripped To reset the power switch wait for five minutes and then press the switch back in Tripped SYMPTOM The power turns off during use a Check the power switch see drawing c at the left If the switch has tripped wait for five minutes and then press the swi

19. e incline of the treadmill does not change correctly a Hold down the Stop button and the Speed increase button insert the key into the console and then release the Stop button and the Speed increase button Next press the Stop button and then press the Incline increase or decrease button The treadmill will automatically rise to the maximum incline level and then return to the minimum level This will recalibrate the incline system If the incline system does not begin calibrating press the Stop button again and then press the Incline increase or decrease button again When the incline system is calibrated remove the key from the console SYMPTOM The walking belt slows when walked on a If an extension cord is needed use only a 3 con ductor 14 gauge 1 mm cord that is no longer than 5 ft 1 5 m 28 b C d If the walking belt is overtightened treadmill per formance may decrease and the walking belt may become damaged Remove the key and UNPLUG THE POWER CORD Using the hex key turn both idler roller screws counterclockwise 1 4 of a turn When the walking belt is properly tightened you should be able to lift each edge of the walking belt 2 to 3 in 5 to 7 cm off the walking platform Be careful to keep the walking belt centered Then plug in the power cord insert the key and run the treadmill for a few minutes Repeat until the walk ing belt is properly tightened Idler Roller Screws Yo

21. have normal heart rhythms Heart rate reading problems may be caused by medical condi tions such as premature ventricular contractions pvcs tachycardia bursts and arrhythmia The operation of the heart rate monitor can be affected by magnetic interference from high power lines or other sources If you suspect that magnetic interference is causing a problem try relocating the fitness equipment HOW TO USE THE TREADMILL HOW TO PLUG IN THE POWER CORD This product must be earthed If it should malfunc tion or break down earthing provides a path of least resistance for electric current to reduce the risk of electric shock This product s power cord has an equipment earthing conductor and an earthing plug IMPORTANT If the power cord is damaged it must be replaced with a manufacturer recommended power cord A DANGER Improper connection of the equipment earthing conductor can result in an increased risk of electric shock Check with a qualified electrician or serviceman if you are in doubt as to whether the product is properly earthed Do not modify the plug provided with the product if it will not fit the outlet have a proper outlet installed by a qualified electrician 16 Follow the steps below to plug in the power cord 1 Plug the indicated end of the power cord into the socket on the incline trainer Socket on Incline Trainer Cah 2 Plug the power cord into an appropriate outlet that is properly ins

30. sture may keep the sensor activated shortening the life of the battery Store the heart rate monitor in a warm dry place Do not store the heart rate monitor in a plastic bag or other container that may trap moisture Do not expose the heart rate monitor to direct sun light for extended periods of time do not expose it to temperatures above 122 F 50 C or below 14 F 10 C Do not excessively bend or stretch the sensor when using or storing the heart rate monitor To clean the sensor use a damp cloth and a small amount of mild soap Then wipe the sensor with a damp cloth and thoroughly dry it with a soft towel Never use alcohol abrasives or chemicals to clean the sensor Hand wash and air dry the chest strap TROUBLESHOOTING If the heart rate monitor does not function properly try the steps below 15 Make sure that you are wearing the heart rate moni tor as described at the left If the heart rate monitor does not function when positioned as described move it slightly lower or higher on your chest If heart rate readings are not displayed until you begin perspiring rewet the electrode areas For the console to display heart rate readings you must be within arm s length of the console If there is a battery cover on the back of the sensor replace the battery with a new battery of the same type The heart rate monitor is designed to work with people who
31. t your hands are clean To measure your heart rate stand on the foot rails and hold the pulse bar with your palms on the metal contacts avoid moving your hands When your pulse is detected a heart symbol in the calorie display will flash each time your heart beats one or two dashes will appear and then your heart rate will be shown For the most accurate heart rate reading continue to hold the metal contacts for about 15 seconds 7 Turn on the fan if desired The fan features several speed settings and an auto mode When the auto mode is selected the speed of the fan will automatically increase and decrease as the speed of the walking belt increases and decreases Press the small fan button repeatedly to select a fan speed or to turn off the fan Press the large fan button to select a fan speed or the auto mode AUTO 2 When you are finished exercising remove the key from the console When you are finished using the treadmill step onto the foot rails press the Stop button and adjust the incline of the treadmill to zero The incline must be at zero or you may damage the treadmill when you fold it to the storage posi tion Next remove the key from the console and put it in a secure place Then press the power switch into the off position and unplug the power cord IMPORTANT If you do not do this the treadmill s electrical compo nents may wear prematurely HOW TO USE AN ONBOARD WORKOUT 1

33. tch back in b Make sure that the power cord is plugged in If the power cord is plugged in unplug it wait for five minutes and then plug it back in c Remove the key from the console and then reinsert it d Ifthe treadmill still will not run please see the front cover of this manual SYMPTOM The console displays remain lit when you remove the key from the console a The console features a display demo mode designed to be used if the treadmill is displayed in a store If the displays remain lit when you remove the key the demo mode is turned on To turn off the demo mode hold down the Stop button for a few seconds If the displays are still lit see THE SETTINGS MODE on page 24 to turn off the demo mode SYMPTOM The displays of the console do not function properly a Remove the key from the console and UNPLUG THE POWER CORD Remove the five 8 x 3 4 Screws 5 Carefully pivot the Motor Hood 62 off Locate the Reed Switch 47 and the Magnet 45 on the left side of the Pulley 51 Turn the Pulley until the Magnet is aligned with the Reed Switch Make sure that the gap between the Magnet and the Reed Switch is about 1 8 in 3 mm If necessary loosen the 8 x 3 4 Tek Screw 10 move the Reed Switch slightly and then retighten the Screw Reattach the Motor Hood not shown with the 8 x 3 4 Screws not shown and run the treadmill for a few minutes to check for a correct speed reading SYMPTOM Th
34. temperature heart rate and circulation in preparation for exercise Training Zone Exercise Exercise for 20 to 30 min utes with your heart rate in your training zone During the first few weeks of your exercise program do not keep your heart rate in your training zone for longer than 20 minutes Breathe regularly and deeply as you exercise never hold your breath Cooling Down Finish with 5 to 10 minutes of stretch ing Stretching increases the flexibility of your muscles and helps to prevent post exercise problems EXERCISE FREQUENCY To maintain or improve your condition complete three workouts each week with at least one day of rest between workouts After a few months of regular exer cise you may complete up to five workouts each week if desired Remember the key to success is to make exercise a regular and enjoyable part of your everyday life SUGGESTED STRETCHES The correct form for several basic stretches is shown at the right Move slowly as you stretch never bounce 1 Toe Touch Stretch Stand with your knees bent slightly and slowly bend forward from your hips Allow your back and shoulders to relax as you reach down toward your toes as far as possible Hold for 15 counts then relax Repeat 3 times Stretches Hamstrings back of knees and back 2 Hamstring Stretch Sit with one leg extended Bring the sole of the opposite foot toward you and rest it against the inner thigh of your extended leg Reach to
35. ten them Attach the Left Handrail Top and Bottom Covers 73 75 to the left Handrail 74 as described above 11 Remove and discard the four indicated screws E Remove the Tray 79 from the Upright Crossbar 76 12 12 Carefully slide the Upright Crossbar 76 between the Uprights 84 Attach the Upright Crossbar with four 5 16 x 3 4 Screws 1 Start all four Screws and then tighten them 13 Attach the Tray 79 to the Upright Crossbar 76 with four 8 x 3 4 Screws 5 Start all four Screws and then tighten them 13 14 15 16 Raise the Frame 52 to the position shown Have a second person hold the Frame until step 15 is completed Orient the Storage Latch 56 so that the decal is facing away from the treadmill as shown Attach the lower end of the Storage Latch 56 to the bracket on the Upright 84 with a 5 16 x 1 3 4 Bolt 3 and a 5 16 Nut 9 Raise the Storage Latch 56 to a vertical posi tion Then remove and discard the tie F Align the upper end of the Storage Latch 56 with the bracket on the Frame 52 Insert a 5 16 x 2 1 4 Bolt 4 through the bracket This should push a spacer G out of the other end Discard the spacer Attach the Storage Latch 56 with a 5 16 x 2 1 4 Bolt 4 and a 5 16 Nut 9 Lower the Frame 52 see HOW TO LOWER THE TREADMILL FOR USE on page 26 Make sure that all parts are properly tightened before you use the treadmill If

38. ug the power cord into an earthed circuit No other appliance should be on the same circuit When replacing the fuse in the power cord adapter insert an ASTA approved BS1362 13 amp fuse into the fuse carrier If an extension cord is needed use only a 3 conductor 14 gauge 1 mm cord that is no longer than 5 ft 1 5 m Keep the power cord away from heated surfaces Never move the walking belt while the power is turned off Do not operate the treadmill if the power cord or plug is damaged or if the treadmill is not working properly See MAINTENANCE AND TROUBLESHOOTING on page 27 if the treadmill is not working properly Read understand and test the emergency stop procedure before using the treadmill see HOW TO TURN ON THE POWER on page 18 Always wear the clip while using the treadmill Always stand on the foot rails when starting or stopping the walking belt Always hold the handrails while using the treadmill Keep fingers hair and clothing away from the moving walking belt The treadmill is capable of high speeds Adjust the speed in small increments to avoid sudden jumps in speed The heart rate monitor is not a medical device Various factors including the user s movement may affect the accuracy of heart rate readings The heart rate monitor is intended only as an exercise aid in determin ing heart rate trends in general 20 21 22 23 Never leave the treadmill unattended while it
39. ur treadmill features a walking belt coated with high performance lubricant IMPORTANT Never apply silicone spray or other substances to the walking belt or the walking platform unless instructed to do so by an authorized service representative Such substances may deterio rate the walking belt and cause excessive wear If you suspect that the walking belt needs more lubricant see the front cover of this manual If the walking belt still slows when walked on see the front cover of this manual SYMPTOM The walking belt is not centered between the foot rails IMPORTANT If the walking belt rubs against the foot rails the walking belt may become damaged a First remove the key and UNPLUG THE POWER CORD If the walking belt has shifted to the left use the hex key to turn the left idler roller screw clockwise 1 2 of a turn if the walking belt has shifted to the right turn the left idler roller screw counterclockwise 1 2 of a turn Be careful not to overtighten the walking belt Then plug in the power cord insert the key and run the incline trainer for a few minutes Repeat until the walking belt is centered SYMPTOM The walking belt slips when walked on a First remove the key and UNPLUG THE POWER CORD Using the hex key turn both idler roller screws clockwise 1 4 of a turn When the walk ing belt is correctly tightened you should be able to lift each edge of the walking belt 3 to 4 in 8 to 10 cm off the walking
