January 06 Tendercare Ltd Multi Ranger Lifting Seat User Manual 8 Maintenance 8 1 Routine maintenance The user or their family can easily carry out the following tasks No tools are required 1 Keep battery charged 2 Check brake operation weekly 3 Check operation of the lifting and tilt mechanism weekly 4 Clean frame when necessary we suggest at least once a week 8 2 Six monthly maintenance Someone who is a competent tradesman or repairer should only carry out this work Ifa major fault is found stop using the Multi Ranger until it has been corrected 1 Examine the frame for any damage If frame is damaged DO NOT use the Multi Ranger until it has been repaired 2 Examine all pivot points for any damage or excessive play If there is excessive play in the pivot points DO NOT use the Multi Ranger until it has been repaired 3 Examine brake castor wheel assemblies for wear damage and correct operation If a brake or castor does not operate properly DO NOT use the Multi Ranger until it has been repaired The brake and castor assemble will have to be replaced as a complete item Instructions for doing this are given in the workshop manual which is available from Tendercare Ltd For all other repairs refer to your issuing authority or Tendercare Ltd 9 Warranty 1 Tendercare undertakes to repair or replace free of charge any parts or part found to be defective due to manufacturer within a period

ED POSITION 5 Always look well ahead so that you have plenty of time to avoid hazards 6 considerate to and watch out for other people who may stop or suddenly change direction 6 2 Brakes 1 Always put the brakes on when getting into or out of the Multi Ranger and when leaving the Multi Ranger unattended 6 3 Comfort 1 Always be considerate to the occupant 2 Before use make sure the occupant is comfortably and correctly seated and that any safety straps of harnesses are correctly adjusted and used Always ensure that both feet are on the footrests and that clothing is tucked in and cannot catch on the mechanism 6 4 Lifting and general safety 1 The Multi Ranger is to be used by one person only Never allow children to play on the Multi Ranger or stand on the footrests or frame 2 Never try to lift the Multi Ranger when the user is sitting in it 3 The Multi Ranger is quite heavy for your own safety and good practice never lift the empty Multi Ranger on your own Always use good lifting practice 7 Cleaning 1 Whenever the Multi Ranger gets dirty it should be cleaned using a damp cloth and then dried thoroughly 2 For more stubborn stains wipe with a damp cloth using a mild solution of warm water and soap 3 Never use furniture polish or spirit to clean any part of the Multi Ranger Multi Ranger Lifting Seat User Manual v1 Page 11 of 13 vl Authority Quality Controller Authorised by J Adams

7. dams Page 6 of 13 vl January 06 Tendercare Ltd Multi Ranger Lifting Seat User Manual 4 2 Seat Unit Mounting Holes Slot for Seat Armrest _ Fittings Footrest Locking Screw Slot for Footrest Fittings SEAT MOUNTING FRAME The seat unit will normally be fitted to the mounting frame before it 1 supplied If this is the case the user need not take any action If the seat unit 1s supplied separately a competent person must fit it They must follow the seat manufacturers instructions when fitting and adjusting the seat unit 4 3 Fitting the battery The battery sits on top of the controller which is on the push handle See photo opposite It is attached to its mounting bracket by a catch at the top To fit the battery place it on top of the controller and lock into place at the top by clicking the spring loaded catch on the battery over the mounting bracket on the push handle Spring To remove the battery squeeze the spring Loaded loaded catch and lift off the controller Catch Warning The battery is quite heavy take 2 EN care not to drop it Multi Ranger Lifting Seat User Manual v1 f1 vl Authority Quality Controller Page 7 of 13 Authorised by J Adams January 06 Tendercare Ltd Multi Ranger Lifting Seat User Manual 4 4 Controller Connections Plug For Seat Raising Ram Plug For Hand Control Plug For Seat Tilt Ram Controller Connections T
8. he controller is supplied with all connections made Should any of the plugs become detached they should be reconnected as shown in the photograph above 5 Operating Instructions 5 1 Charging the battery The Multi Ranger is supplied with a wall mounted battery charger complete with wall mounting bracket The bracket and charger should be firmly attached to a wall where there is sufficient room to give 50 mm clearance to the side above and below the charger and battery It should also be fitted near to an electricity socket To charge the battery fit it to the charger by placing it on top of the charger and locking into place at the top by clicking the spring loaded catch on the battery over the charger mounting bracket Plug in the charger and switch on the supply The green light indicates the charger is connected to the mains The yellow BATTERY light indicates that the battery is properly connected and is charging The battery will take approximately 4 hours to CHARGER ted To remove the battery switch off the charger at the mains then squeeze the spring loaded catch on top of the battery and lift the battery off the charger Safety Tip When the charger is not in use switch off the mains supply or pull the plug out in order to prevent unintentional operation Multi Ranger Lifting Seat User Manual v1 f1 vl Authority Quality Controller Page 8 of 13 Authorised J Adams January 06 Tendercare Ltd
9. he slim line narrow base is narrow enough to fit effortlessly through standard sized doorways The Multi Ranger Lifting Seat is a highly versatile and robust powered high low lifting seat which incorporates an independently powered operated Tilt in Space Facility The seat will extend height from 27cm to 78cm and has a seat tilting facility of up to 28 The Multi Ranger Base is manufactured from Mild Steel and then finished in a high gloss Black Paint The Multi Ranger base is designed to be used with various Modular or off the Shelf Seating Systems 3 Unpacking The Multi Ranger may be delivered fully assembled ready for use I this is the case you can skip the following sections and go directly to section 5 on page 8 The Multi Ranger may also be supplied in packaging In this case some assembly will be required and you should read the whole manual Warning the transit packaging is heavy so moving and unpacking must be done with care Observe all lifting and handling regulations Remove the Multi ranger from the packaging and check that you have the following items Oi Multi Ranger Lifting Seat a EN 3 Push handle fixing bolts nuts and washers 2 J J 4 Battery 5 Batterycharger oo o D e S 6 Mama oS o S i If any items are damaged or missing please contact Tendercare Preferably by fax 01903 734083 within 36 hours of delivery Multi Ranger Lifting Seat User Manual v1 P f
10. into the lifting seat 1 Put the brakes on 2 Lower the seat to the lowest position 3 Lower yourself onto the seat using the armrests if fitted for support 4 Place your feet on the footrest if fitted 5 6 Getting out of the lifting seat 1 Put the brakes on 2 Lower the seat to the lowest position 3 Place arms on armrests 4 Slowly push yourself up to a standing position 6 Attendant Pushing 6 1 Pushing 1 The Multi Ranger has good stability even when raised but it is designed for use on hard flat floor surfaces It MUST NOT be pushed on steep slopes or steps It is easy to push but care should be taken when pushing and it is advisable to have the seat set in a low position Never force the Multi Ranger if it becomes stuck this may cause the Multi Ranger tip If the Multi Ranger gets jammed move it away from the obstruction Multi Ranger Lifting Seat User Manual v1 f1 vl Authority Quality Controller Page 10 of 13 Authorised by J Adams January 06 Tendercare Ltd Multi Ranger Lifting Seat User Manual 2 Always use two hands for pushing the Multi Ranger 3 For the comfort of the occupant always avoid pushing too fast or making sudden fast turns Many occupants are liable to be affected by rough handling which can cause loss of confidence discomfort or pain 4 DO NOT push the Multi Ranger up down or across steep slopes It can be pushed on gentle slopes so long as the seat is in the LOWER
11. l vl Authority Quality Controller 5 of 13 Authorised by J Adams January 06 Tendercare Ltd Multi Ranger Lifting Seat User Manual After unpacking and checking you have all components and that they are in good condition carefully dispose of the packaging at your local recycling centre 4 Preparing for use and operation Warning when assembling the Multi Ranger for use ensure that you hold the frame so that you avoid any danger of catching your fingers in moving parts The multi ranger needs a minimum amount of assembly as follows 4 1 Push handle The push handle 1 supplied with nuts bolts and washers to fasten it to the frame Hold the push handle so that the battery controller is facing towards the back of the frame then insert the push handle into the socket in the frame See photo opposite Fasten the push handle to the frame as follows a 1 The push handle is supplied with two M8 Setscrews Nyloc nuts and Washers Frame Socket Wen 2 Place a washer over setscrew and screw it into the back of the frame Using a 13 mm spanner tighten to 25Nm Keeping the spanner on the bolt head to prevent it moving fit the Nyloc nut onto the screw and tighten to 25Nm using a second 13 mm spanner See Sketch 1 below PUSHHANDLE WASHER SET SCREW THREADED HOLE SKETCH 1 Multi Ranger Lifting Seat User Manual v1 Authority Quality Controller Authorised by J A
