6. tch it to STANDBY a Master Thermostat Installation Install the master thermostat as follows For ambient temperature Choose a location about 5 ft above control the floor Avoid locations where For ambient temperature control with floor tempera air outlet dead air spots behind a ture limit door direct sunlight or concealed chimneys or stove pipes there are air drafts top of staircase For floor temperature con The thermostat can be installed trol anywhere WARNING Make sure all linked units are in STANDBY mode nstall the master thermostat as follows Wire the 12 VDC power base to the nearest linked unit See the top wiring diagram WARNING Only one linked unit must be used to power the master thermostat insert the floor sensor cable through one of the two openings on the power base and connect the sensor wires to terminals 4 and 5 no polarity The sensor cable must pass outside the electrical box and follow the wall down to the floor Position the sensor cable such that it does not come in con tact with the floor heating wires The sensor must be cen tered between two floor heating wires for best temperature control Do NOT staple the sensor head epoxy section to the floor Doing so might damage the sensor The damage might not be noticeable during testing but can become apparent sev eral days later Install the power base on the wall using
7. the provided screws and wall anchors 2 4 ai IAG IZL M9 Izt j aNd 3A er p CT230 120GA CT230 120GB CT230 240GA CT230 240GB Install the control module faceplate of the master thermostat onto the power base Once the thermostat is installed return power to heating system and switch all linked units and the master thermostat to ON Ground Fault Protection A ground fault protection thermostat is different from conventional thermostats In the event of a ground fault the ground fault protection mechanism on the thermostat will trip and quickly stop the flow of electricity to prevent serious injury 3 1 Definition of a ground fault Instead of following its normal safe path electricity passes through a person s body to reach the ground For example a defective floor heating mat can cause a ground fault A ground fault protection thermostat does not protect against circuit overloads short circuits or electrical shocks For example you can still receive an electrical shock if you touch bare wires while standing on a non conducting surface such as a wood floor 3 2 Ground Fault Protection Reset When the ground fault protection mechanism trips the TEST light is On red To reset the ground fault protection switch the linked unit to Standby or Off then back to On The TEST light will go off if the ground fault protection is functioning properly 3 3 Ground Fault P
