1. cellofoam PROCEDURES FOR USING PERMAFLOAT DOCK FLOTATION Adherence to the following procedures is required under the permafloat 15 year warranty FLOAT STORAGE e Permafloat dock floats are shipped upside down with the plug hole facing downward We recommend floats remain face down in storage e Do not store floats with vent plugs inserted in areas of direct sunlight or extreme temperatures e Do not stack floats in excess of ten feet high e Dropping the float may result in damage to the corners and flanges VENT PLUGS e Vent plugs are not to be installed until the float is ready to be installed and or used e Prior to vent plug insertion ensure any water that entered the float through the vent hole is drained completely e Apply silicone or pipe sealer on vent plug prior to installation to keep the float watertight e A 5 16 Allen wrench is needed to install the vent plug e Thread the vent plug into the float drum until the top of the plug is level with the top of the float DOCK FRAME SUPPORT e Both the sides and ends of the float must be supported by the dock frame e The minimum frame support of the float must be every 48 x 48 or sixteen square feet FLOAT ATTACHMENT e All mounting slots of float must be bolted or lagged to the frame if the dock is exposed to tidal changes or strong wave action e A minimum of four mounting slots must be used to attach the float to the dock frame for any float four fee2. t in length or less e Floats greater than four feet in length must be attached using all mounting slots along the sides of the float and at least one hole or slot in every corner e Attachment requires a minimum of 3 8 bolts lag screws or float clips e Bolts lag screws float clips washers and lock nuts must be galvanized or stainless steel DOCK INSTALLATION AND REMOVAL e When installing or removing a dock section with float installed lift each section Do not slide floats e In areas of sever ice movement docks must be removed during winter months For additional technical support or questions regarding the use of permafloat dock flotation please call 1 800 531 4734 or email floats cellofoam com April 2 2012
