5. side jamb CUT AT BOTTOM ONLY Check with a level as you mark each hole to drill and again as you install each screw Page 4 O Hang the security door Hang the security door on the hinges holding the door open to a 90 angle and starting with the bottom pin first Reminder Maintain annually Apply Pa white grease to hinge pins Hinge pins come pre lubricated from factory Hinge pins _ Shim washer Applied to hinge jamb Follow manufacturer s instructions included with each item Handleset Door closer O Attach hardware door closer and windchain sold separately Windchain Page 5 Q Prepare latch and deadbolt clearance then install latch side jamb A Mark for latch and deadbolt clearance BEFORE permanently installing the latch side jamb Hold the latch side jamb in place making sure the top end of the jamb is butted up against the top jamb Use a level to ensure the jamb remains plumb mark the mounting holes E F G amp H and the latch and deadbolt holes Remove latch side jamb and use the 1 2 Spade drill bit to drill clearance holes in center of latch and deadbolt markings approximately 1 4 deep Attach the sweep Push the sweep in place on the bottom edge of the security door and adjust it so that the rubber bug sweep on the bottom lightly touches the threshold You may need to tap the sweep in place using a wood block Pre drill wi
6. t the front edge of the back of the door frame You will use these measurements in Step 3 Door Frame Side View l Step A Top jamb Install top jamb Existing l entryway Ta side jamb lengths Existing threshold from primary door Existing threshold Page 3 Trimming the jamb Use the measurement taken in step 2 mark each jamb down from the top see diagram hinge pins face the top of the jamb Using a hacksaw and a metal cutting blade trim the bottom of each jamb at the mark you made Top of hinge side jamb Warning do NOT cut at top Note verify that direction of hinge pins match illustration before cutting bottom of jamb Bottom of hinge side jamb CUT AT BOTTOM ONLY O Install the hinge side jamb Hold the hinge side jamb in place making sure the hinge pins face up and the top end of the jamb is butted up against the top jamb Use a level to insure the jamb remains plumb and mark through the holes A B C amp D Drill four 1 8 holes 1 1 2 deep though the marks you made on the frame Put the hinge side jamb back in place and mount it using four of the supplied 10 x 2 stainless mounting screws F Use a level to ensure the hinge side jamb remains plumb as you install each screw and adjust as needed Push jamb up into corner tight against the top jamb 10 x 2 Stainless mounting screws Top of latch side jamb do NOT cut at top Bottom of latch
7. th 1 8 drill bit and secure the sweep in place using 2 of the 8 x 5 8 self tapping screws provided Be sure to keep your drill on a low speed so that the threads do not strip Push jamb up into corner tight against the top jamb B Re insert latch side jamb Check reveal by closing door Gap should be about 5 32 Use shims or spacers to set reveal Drill 1 8 holes 1 1 2 deep through the mounting hole marks at E F G amp H holes Attach the latch side jamb using 4 of the 10 x 2 stainless mounting screws F provided being sure to maintain the 5 32 reveal throughout the mounting process Check with a level as you mark each hole to drill and again as you install each screw Bottom of door Page 6 Re install glass caulk and paint around the door frame and install weatherstripping Re install glass panel if removed prior to door installation Caulk around the outside of the security door jamb using paintable caulk Install foam weatherstripping provided around top and both sides of door D Paint mounting screws Shake touch up paint included vigorously for 2 minutes and paint the screw heads Touch up paint Warranty Information Your Unique Home Designs UHD Premium Security Screen Door is warranted for residential installations against manufacturer defects under normal use for as long as you own your UHD product and terminates if you sell or otherwise transfer the pro
