2. 3 Set the Oven Temperature Control Knob to the baking roasting temperature you want The OVEN HEATING Indicator Light will come on The oven is preheated when the OVEN HEATING Indicator Light first goes off NOTE Do not preheat oven when roasting or cooking items such as casse roles 4 Put food in the oven During baking roasting the elements will turn on and off to maintain the temperature setting The OVEN HEATING Indicator Light will turn on and off with the elements NOTE The top element helps heat during baking roasting but does not turn red 5 When baking roasting is done turn the Oven Selector to OFF The OVEN HEATING Indicator Light will go off 12 USING YOUR RANGE Adjusting the oven temperature control Although your new oven is properly adjusted to provide accurate temperatures it may cook faster or slower than your old oven If after using the oven for a period of time you are not satisfied with the baking roasting results you can change the temperature calibration by following these steps 1 Make sure the Oven Temperature Control Knob is turned to the off position Pull knob straight off and flip it over 2 Loosen the locking screws inside the control knob Note the position of the notches 3 To lower the temperature hold knob handle firmly and move the tooth a notch counterclockwise Each notch equals about 5 F 2 5 C 4 To raise the temperature hold knob handle firm

7. to continue cooking SETTING RECOMMENDED USE e To start foods cooking e To bring liquids to a boil Medium high To hold a rapid boil e To fry chicken or pancakes Medium opposite OFF e For gravy pudding and icing e To cook large amounts of vegetables e To keep food cooking after starting itona higher setting LO e To keep food warm until ready to serve Cookware tips e Select a pan that is about the same size as the surface unit e NOTE For best results and greater energy efficiency use only flat bottomed cookware that makes good contact with the surface units Cookware with rounded warped ribbed such as some porcelain enamelware or dented bottoms could cause severe overheating which damages the cookware and or surface unit You can however use the newer cookware available with slightly indented bottoms or very small expansion channels This cookware is specially designed to provide the good contact needed for best cooking results Also woks canners and teakettles with flat bottoms suitable for use on your cooktop are now available in most stores that sell housewares e The pan should have straight sides and a tight fitting lid e Choose medium to heavy gauge thick ness pans that are fairly lightweight e The pan material metal or glass affects how fast heat transfers from the surface unit through the pan material and how evenly heat spreads over the pan bottom Choose pan
8. ack with the food Turn up foil edges and make sure foil is about 1 inch 3 cm ama am HANSEL E EAA larger all around than the dish holding Pr the food f NEEF e Do not cover the entire rack with alumi v7 lina alimlar l ma num foil It will reduce air circulation and cause poor cooking results e Do not line oven bottom or entire oven rack with foil or other liners It could affect the quality of your baking 7 10 USING YOUR RANGE Setting the clock 1 Press the Clock pad 2 Press the Increase or Decrease pad until the correct time is displayed Using the Minute Timer The Minute Timer does not start or stop the oven It works like a kitchen timer It can be set in hours and minutes up to 24 hours You can use the Minute Timer during any cooking function 1 Press the Timer On Off pad 2 Press the Increase or Decrease pad until the desired time in hours and minutes is displayed At end of timer countdown A series of beeps will sound Press the Timer On Off pad to cancel the beeps To cancel the Minute Timer When TIMER is on the display press the Timer On Off pad The display will show 00 and Set for 5 seconds and then the time of day will show on the display USING YOUR RANGE Baking roasting 1 Position the rack s properly before turning on the oven For further informa tion see Positioning racks and pans on page 9 2 Set the Oven Selector to BAKE
9. ctor bowls reflect heat back to the utensils on the surface units They also help catch spills When they are kept clean they reflect heat better and look new longer If a reflector bowl gets discolored some of your utensils may not be flat enough or some may be too large for the surface unit In either case some of the heat that s meant to go into or around a utensil goes down and heats the reflector bowl This extra heat can discolor it 19 CARING FOR YOUR RANGE Lift up cooktop 1 Lift front of cooktop at both front corners until the support locks into place 2 Wipe with warm soapy water Use a soapy steel wool pad on heavily soiled areas 3 To lower the cooktop lift cooktop from both sides while pressing the support back to unlock it Lower the cooktop into place 20 CARING FOR YOUR RANGE Removing the oven door Removing the oven door will help make it easier to clean the oven NOTE Make sure the oven is cool before removing oven door 1 Open the door to the first stop position 2 Hold the door at both sides and lift it at the same angle it is in NOTE Be careful not to place hands between the spring hinge and the oven frame as the spring hinge could snap back and pinch your fingers or damage the porcelain on the front of the range Cover the hinges with toweling or empty paper towel rolls while working in the oven area 3 To replace fit the bottom corners of the door over the end
10. is set on high Reduce heat setting to lowest position needed to keep water boiling e Keep reflector bowls clean for best heat reflection e To prolong the life of the elements Prepare small batches at a time Do not use elements for canning all day e Refer to your canner manual for specific instructions Positioning racks and pans To remove racks 1 Pull rack toward you 2 Tilt up front end 3 Pull rack out To replace racks 1 Place rack on rack guides 2 Tilt up front end 3 Push rack in until it clears the stop 4 Lower front and push rack in the rest of the way General guidelines e Before turning on the oven place oven racks where you need them e Be sure the rack s is level e Use pot holders or oven mitts to protect your hands if rack s must be moved while the oven is hot e For baking roasting with one rack place the rack so the top of the food will be centered in the oven e When baking roasting on two racks arrange racks on the bottom and third level from the bottom e Do not place items on the oven door when it is open Rack placement for specific foods FOOD RACK POSITION Lowest level or 2nd level from bottom Frozen pies large roasts turkeys angel food cakes 2nd level from bottom Bundt cakes most quick breads yeast breads casseroles meats Cookies biscuits muffins cakes nonfrozen pies 2nd or 3rd level from bottom NOTE For rec
11. ly and move the tooth a notch clockwise Each notch equals about 5 F 2 5 C 5 Tighten the locking screws and replace the control knob Locking screws To raise To lower a Notches Tooth 13 USING YOUR RANGE Broiling 1 Position the rack properly before turning on the oven The oven rack should be positioned so that the surface of the food is at least 3 inches 7 cm away from the broil element See Broiling rack position chart on page 15 2 Put the broiler pan and food on the rack 3 Close the door to the Broil Stop position open about 4 inches 10 cm The door will stay open by itself 4 Set the Oven Selector and Oven Tem perature Control Knob to BROIL The OVEN HEATING Indicator Light will come on NOTE Do not preheat oven when broiling 5 When broiling is done turn the Oven Selector to OFF The OVEN HEATING Indicator Light will go off Custom broil e If food is cooking too fast turn the Oven Temperature Control Knob counterclock wise until the OVEN HEATING Indicator Light goes off e If you want the food to broil slower from the start set the Oven Temperature Control Knob between 170 F and 325 F 77 C and 163 C These temperature settings allow the broil heating element to cycle and to slow cooking The lower the temperature the slower the cooking e Fish and chicken are some foods that may cook better if you use lower broiling tem peratures The Oven Selector

13. must be on BROIL for all broiling temperatures NOTE Leave the oven door partly open whenever using the oven to broil This allows the oven to maintain proper temperatures 14 USING YOUR RANGE Broiling rack position chart RACK POSITION TYPE OF FOOD FROM BOTTOM DONENESS Hamburger patties and thin steaks 2 thick or less Quickly searing food rare and medium steaks medium patties ham slices fish steaks frankfurters Well done steaks and patties lamb chops split chicken pork steaks and chops whole fish Not used for broiling Broiling tips e Use the broiler pan and grid for broiling They are designed to drain excess liquid and grease away from the cooking surface to help prevent spatter smoke or fire e Do not cover the broiler grid with foil e To ensure adequate grease drainage do not use cookie sheets or similar pans for broiling e Place food about 3 or more from the broil element e After broiling remove the broiler pan from the oven when you remove the food Drippings will bake on the pan if you leave it in the heated oven 15 USING YOUR RANGE Energy saving tips Although the energy used for cooking is usually a very small percentage of the total energy used in the home cooking energy can be used efficiently Here are some tips to help you save energy when using your cooking product e Use pans with flat bottoms straight sides and tight fitting lids e Match the pan
14. n door Let hot air or steam escape before removing or replacing food Grease eGrease is flammable Do not allow grease to collect around cooktop or in vents Wipe spill overs immediately oN eDo not use water on grease fires Never pick up a flaming pan Smother flaming pan on range by covering with a well fitting lid cookie sheet or flat tray Flaming grease outside of pan can be extinguished with baking soda or if available a multipurpose dry chemical or foam type extinguisher Care and cleaning Do not soak removable heating elements in water The element will be damaged and shock or fire could result eDo not clean door heat seal It is essential for a good seal Care should be taken not to rub damage or move the seal Clean only parts recommended in this Use and Care Guide Do not repair or replace any part of the range unless specifically recommended in this manual All other servicing should be re ferred to a qualified technician e Disconnect the electrical supply before servicing the range SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS Parts and Features This section contains captioned illustrations of your range Use them to become familiar with the location and appearance of all parts and features To help you find information on specific parts or features quickly page references are included Anti tip bracket not shown Plug in surface p 17 unit with one piece aS SS chrome
15. oktop eMake sure the reflector bowls are in place during cooking Cooking without reflector bowls could sub ject the wiring and components underneath them to damage e Do not line reflector bowls with aluminum foil or other liners Im proper installation of these liners could result in a risk of electric shock or fire Select a pan with a flat bottom that is about the same size as the surface unit If pan is smaller than the surface unit some of the heat ing element will be exposed and could result in the igniting of cloth ing or pot holders Correct pan size also improves cooking efficiency eCheck to be sure glass cookware is safe for use on the range Only certain types of glass glass ce ramic ceramic earthenware or other glazed cookware are suitable for cooktops without breaking due to the sudden change in tempera ture IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS eNever leave surface units unat tended at high heat settings A boilover could result and cause smoking and greasy spillovers that could ignite J e Turn pan handles inward but not over other surface units This will help reduce the chance of burns igniting of flammable materials and spills due to bumping of the pan When using the oven e Always position oven rack s in desired location while oven is cool If a rack must be removed while oven is hot do not let pot holder contact hot heating ele ments in oven eUse care when opening ove
16. ommended rack placement when broiling see Broiling rack position chart on page 15 Bakeware tips e When baking with insulated cookie sheets or baking pans place them in the bottom third of the oven You may need to increase the recommended baking times so test for doneness before removing from the oven e For most baking reduce the oven temperature by 25 F but use the same baking time when using ovenproof glass ware or dark pans These pans absorb heat producing darker bottom browning and crispier crusts When baking pies and bread you can use the temperature called for in the recipe USING YOUR RANGE For best air circulation Hot air must circulate around the pans in the oven for even heat to reach all parts of the oven This results in better baking e Place the pans so that one is not directly over the other e For best results allow 11 to 2 inches 4 5 cm of space around each pan and between pans and oven walls e Use only one cookie sheet in the oven at a time Use the following as a guide to determine where to place the pans One pan Place in the center of the oven rack Two pans Place in opposite corners of the oven rack Three or four pans Place in opposite corners on each oven rack Stagger pans so no pan is directly over another Using aluminum foil for baking Use aluminum foil to catch spillovers from pies or casseroles e Place the foil on the oven rack below the r

18. r of range and carefully try to tilt Bracket forward If anti tip bracket is attached to factory floor or wall correctly range should not tilt location forward e See Installation Instructions for further Chain details Washer and screw 17 Caring for Your Range Your range is designed for easy care You can do most cleaning with items found around your home Cleaning your range whenever spills or soiling occurs will help to keep it looking and operating like new NOTE Let range cool before cleaning Surface units and reflector bowls Removing 1 Make sure all surface units are off and cool before removing surface units and reflector bowls 2 Lift the edge of the unit opposite the receptacle just enough to clear the reflector bowl 3 Pull the surface unit straight away from the receptacle 4 Lift out the reflector bowl See Cleaning chart on page 22 for cleaning instructions 18 CARING FOR YOUR RANGE Replacing 1 Make sure all surface units are off and cool before replacing surface units and reflector bowls 2 Line up openings in the reflector bowl with the surface unit receptacle 3 Hold the surface unit as level as possible with the terminal just started into the receptacle Push the surface unit terminal into the receptacle 4 When terminal is pushed into the recep tacle as far as it will go push down the edge of the surface unit opposite the receptacle NOTE Refle
