1. 5 When broiling is done turn both the Oven Selector and Oven Temperature Control Knob to OFF The OVEN HEAT ING Indicator Light will go off Custom broil e If food is cooking too fast turn the Oven Temperature Control Knob counterclock wise until the OVEN HEATING Indicator Light goes off e If you want the food to broil slower from the start set the Oven Temperature Control Knob between 170 F and 325 F 77 C and 163 C These temperature settings allow the broil heating element to cycle and to slow cooking The lower the temperature the slower the cooking e Fish and chicken are some foods that may cook better if you use lower broiling temperatures The Oven Selector must be on BROIL for all broiling temperatures NOTE Leave the oven door partly open whenever using the oven to broil This allows the oven to maintain proper temperatures 14 Broiling rack position chart RACK POSITION TYPE OF FOOD FROM BOTTOM DONENESS ae Hamburger patties and thin steaks 1 2 thick or Broiling tips less e Use the broiler pan and grid for broiling They are designed to drain excess liquid and grease away from the cooking surface to help prevent spatter smoke or fire e Refer to a broiling chart in a reliable cookbook for correct broiling times e After broiling remove the broiler pan from the oven when you remove the food Drippings will bake on the pan if you leave it in the heated oven Quickly sear
2. 2 Lift drawer front and push in until metal stops on drawer slide rails clear white stops on drawer guides Lift drawer front again to clear second stop and slide drawer closed Drawer slide rail USING YOUR RANGE The anti tip bracket The range will not tip during normal use However tipping can occur if you apply too much force or weight to the open door without the anti tip bracket properly secured AWARNING Personal injury Hazard e To reduce risk of range tipping over secure range with a properly installed anti tip bracket supplied with range or an optional wall mounted anti tip bracket kit e If range is moved for cleaning or service check that anti tip device is engaged before using range Failure to follow the above precautions could result in personal injury To verify the anti tip bracket is engaged if you have a floor bracket e Remove the storage drawer See page 17 Rear e Look to see if the anti tip bracket is attached leveling to floor with screws leg e Make sure one rear leveling leg is positioned under the anti tip bracket e See Installation Instructions for further details To verify the anti tip bracket is Floor bracket engaged if you have a wall bracket e Look to see if the anti tip bracket is attached Cable with screws to the wall behind the control arama panel control e Make sure the cable on the back of the range panel is secured by the two hooks on the bracke

Adjusting the oven temperature control Oven temperature controls will gradually shift after years of use So even though your new oven is properly adjusted to provide accurate temperatures it may cook faster or slower than your old oven If after using the oven for a period of time you are not satisfied with the temperature settings you can change them by following these steps 1 Make sure the Oven Temperature Control Knob is turned to the off position Pull knob straight off and flip it over 2 Loosen the locking screws inside the Locking Tooth control knob Note the position of the screws notches To lower 3 To lower the temperature hold knob handle firmly and move the tooth a notch counterclockwise Each notch equals about 5 F 2 5 C 4 To raise the temperature hold knob handle firmly and move the tooth a notch clockwise Each notch equals about 5 F 2 5 C Notches 5 Tighten the locking screws and replace the control knob USING YOUR RANGE Broiling 1 Position the rack before turning the oven on See Broiling rack position chart on page 15 2 Put the broiler pan and food on the rack 3 Close the door to the Broil Stop position open about 4 inches 10 2 cm The door will stay open by itself 4 Set the Oven Selector and Oven Tem perature Control Knob to BROIL The OVEN HEATING Indicator Light will come on NOTE Do not preheat oven when OvEN TEMP SELECTOR broiling

7. in opposite corners of the oven rack Three or four pans Place in opposite corners on each oven rack Stagger pans so no pan is directly over another Using aluminum foil for baking Use aluminum foil to catch spillovers from pies or casseroles e Place the foil on the oven rack below the rack with the food Turn up foil edges and make sure foil is about 1 inch 3 cm larger all around than the dish holding the food e Do not cover the entire rack with aluminum foil It will reduce air circulation and cause poor cooking results e Do not line oven bottom or entire oven rack with foil or other liners Poor baking will result AWARNING Electrical Shock and Fire Hazard Do not allow foil to touch the heating elements Failure to follow this precaution could result in electrical shock or fire hazard and damage to the elements Setting the clock Push in and turn the Minute Timer Knob to set the clock 1 Push in Minute Timer Knob and turn clockwise until clock shows the correct time of day 2 Let the Minute Timer Knob pop out Turn clockwise until Minute Timer hand points to OFF The clock setting will change if you push in the knob when turning Using the Minute Timer The Minute Timer does not start or stop the oven It works like a kitchen timer Set it in minutes up to an hour You will hear a buzzer when the set time is up NOTE Do not push in the knob when setting the Minute Timer or when stoppin

11. 22 CARING FOR YOUR RANGE PART WHAT TO USE Oven cavity Sponge and warm soapy Remove door for easier access water See page 21 e Wash rinse and dry well Soapy steel wool pad for Rinse well with water heavily soiled areas OR Commercial oven cleaner Remove door for easier access for heavily soiled areas Place newspaper on floor to protect floor surface Follow directions provided with the oven cleaner Rinse well with clear water Use in well ventilated room Do not allow commercial oven cleaners to contact the heating elements heat seal thermostat or exterior surfaces of the range Damage will occur Heavy duty aluminum foil Place piece of foil or shallow pan or shallow pan used slightly larger than the cooking while cooking container on lower rack to catch spillovers NOTE Do not use foil or foil liner to cover the oven floor Poor baking roasting results could occur 23 CARING FOR YOUR RANGE The oven light To turn the oven light on use the Oven Light Switch on the control panel AWARNING Electrical Shock and Personal Injury Hazard e Make sure oven and light bulb are cool and power to the range has been turned off before replacing the light bulb Failure to do so could result in electrical shock or burns e The bulb cover must be in place when using the oven The cover protects the bulb from breaking and from high oven temperatures Because bulb cover is made of glass be careful

To fry chicken or pancakes Medium For gravy pudding and opposite OFF icing e To cook large amounts of vegetables e To keep food cooking after starting it on a higher setting LO e To keep food warm until ready to serve Using the ceramic glass cooktop Cooking on the ceramic glass cooktop is almost the same as cooking on coil surface units There are however a few differences e The surface unit will glow red when it is turned on You will see the element cycling on glowing red and off even on HIGH setting to maintain the proper tempera ture setting you have selected e Sliding metal pans on ceramic glass cooktop surface could leave marks Wiping off the cooktop before and after each use will help keep the surface free from stains and provide the most even heating See pages 20 and 21 for care and cleaning suggestions Cookware tips e Select a pan that is about the same size as the surface unit e NOTE For best results and greater energy efficiency use only flat bottomed cookware that makes good contact with the surface units Cookware with rounded warped ribbed such as some porcelain enamelware or dented bottoms could cause uneven heating and poor cooking results You can however use the newer cookware available with slightly indented bottoms or very small expansion channels This cookware is specially designed to provide the good contact needed for best cooking resu
13. ace the rack so the top of the food will be AWARNING centered in the oven Rack placement for specific foods Frozen pies large Lowest level or roasts turkeys 2nd level from bottom Personal Injury Hazard e Always position oven rack s in desired location before turning oven on Be sure the rack s is level e lf rack s must be moved while oven is hot use potholders or oven mitts to protect hands Failure to follow the above precautions could result in personal injury Angel and bundt 2nd level from cakes most quick bottom breads yeast breads casseroles meats Cookies biscuits 2nd or 3rd level muffins cakes from bottom nonfrozen pies When baking on two racks arrange racks on bottom and third level from bottom NOTE For recommended rack placement when broiling see Broiling rack position chart on page 15 USING YOUR RANGE For best air circulation Hot air must circulate around the pans in the oven for even heat to reach all parts of the oven This results in better baking e Place the pans so that one is not directly over the other e For best results allow 11 2 to 2 inches 4 5 cm of space around each pan and between pans and oven walls There must be a minimum space of 1 inch 2 5 cm e Use only one cookie sheet in the oven at one time Use the following as a guide to determine where to place the pans One pan Place in the center of the oven rack Two pans Place
14. and the razor scraper included with your range are all you need to clean your cooktop For proper cleaning methods please review Cleaning tips on pages 20 and 21 Follow them after each use to ensure top performance and to preserve that uniquely elegant look 19 CARING FOR YOUR RANGE AWARNING Personal Injury Hazard e When removing heavy or sugary spills from the hot cooktop wear oven mitts to prevent burns e Do not use cooktop cleaner on a hot cooktop The cleaner could produce hazardous fumes or damage the cooktop e Do not use the range if the cooktop is cracked or broken Failure to follow these instructions could result in personal injury To avoid damaging the cooktop follow these instructions e Remove sugary spills before cooktop cools to prevent pitting e Do not use the cooktop as a cutting board e Do not allow anything that may melt such as plastic or aluminum foil to come in contact with the surface while it is hot e Do not use the ceramic cooktop to cook popcorn that comes in prepackaged aluminum containers The container could leave aluminum marks on the cooktop that cannot be removed com pletely e Do not use steel wool plastic cleaning pads abrasive powdered cleansers chlorine bleach rust remover ammonia or glass cleaning products with ammo nia These could damage the cooktop surface e Dropping heavy or hard objects on the cooktop could crack it Be careful with
15. climb ing on it e Do not leave children alone or unattended in area where the range is in use They should never be allowed to sit or stand on any et of the range They could be burned or injured e Do not operate the range if it is damaged or not working properly e Do not use the range for warming or heating the room Persons could be burned or injured or a fire could start To reduce the risk of fire electrical shock injury to persons or damage when using the range follow basic precautions including the following eUse the range only for its in _ tended use as described in this manual Do not touch surface units areas near units heating ele ments or interior surfaces of oven Surface units and heating elements may be hot even though they are dark in color Areas near surface units and interior surfaces of an oven become hot enough to cause burns During and after use do not touch or let clothing or other flammable materials contact surface units areas near units heating elements or interior surfaces of oven until they have had sufficient time to cool Other surfaces of the range such as the oven vent opening the surface near the vent opening the cooktop and the oven door could also become hot enough to cause burns Do not wear loose or hanging garments when using the range They could ignite if they touch a hot surface unit and you could be burned continued on next page 3
16. e oven when possible The oven vent Hot air and moisture escape from the oven through a vent on the backguard below the control panel The vent is needed for air circulation Do not block the vent Poor baking roasting can result e Turn on the surface unit only after placing filled pan on the unit e Oven peeking may cause heat loss longer cooking times and unsatisfactory baking results Rely on your timer to keep track of the cooking time e Bake cakes pies or cookies when the oven is warm Best time to bake is right after a meal has been cooked in the oven e Preheat the oven no longer than necessary e Plan your meals for the most efficient use of the range When using the oven to cook one food try to cook the rest of the meal in it also e Do not preheat when broiling roasting or cooking items such as casseroles Oven vent USING YOUR RANGE The storage drawer You can remove the storage drawer to make it easier to clean under the range and to check for installation of the anti tip floor bracket if you have one Use care when handling the drawer Removing the storage drawer 1 Empty drawer of any pots and pans before removing drawer Pull drawer straight out to the first stop Lift front and pull out to the second stop 2 Lift back slightly and slide drawer all the way out Replacing the storage drawer 1 Fit ends of drawer slide rails into the drawer guides on both sides of opening
17. ficient and safe use of your range Using the surface units Push in control knobs before turning them to a setting You can set them anywhere between HI and OFF Surface unit markers The solid dot in the surface unit marker shows which surface unit is turned on by that knob Surface heating indicator light The SURFACE HEATING Indicator Light on the control panel will glow when a surface unit is turned on Hot surface indicator light The Hot Surface Indicator Light on the control panel will glow when a surface unit becomes too hot to touch The Indicator Light will con tinue to glow as long as the surface unit is too hot to touch even after it is turned off AWARNING Burn and Fire Hazard Be sure all control knobs are turned to OFF and all indicator lights are OFF when you are not cooking Someone could be burned or a fire could start if a surface unit is accidentally left ON USING YOUR RANGE NOTE The surface elements may smoke slightly and emit a burning odor during the first few hours of use This is normal It is caused by the insulation material of the new ceramic cooktop elements and will not occur again Until you get used to the settings use the following as a guide For best results start cooking at the high setting then turn the control knob down to continue cooking SETTING RECOMMENDED USE To start foods cooking e To bring liquids to a boil Medium high To hold a rapid boil e
18. g the buzzer Pushing in and turning the Minute Timer Knob changes the clock setting 1 Without pushing it in turn the Minute Timer Knob counterclockwise until the timer hand passes the setting you want 2 Without pushing it in turn the knob back to the setting you want When the time is up a buzzer will sound To stop the buzzer turn the Minute Timer hand to OFF USING YOUR RANGE USING YOUR RANGE Baking roasting 1 Position the rack s properly before turning on the oven To change rack position lift rack at front and pull out For further information see Positioning racks and pans on page 9 2 Set the Oven Selector to BAKE 3 Set the Oven Temperature Control Knob to the baking roasting temperature you want The OVEN HEATING Indicator Light will come on The oven is preheated when the OVEN HEATING Indicator Light first goes off NOTE Do not preheat oven when roasting or cooking items such as casseroles 4 Put food in the oven During baking roasting the elements will turn on and off to maintain the temperature setting The OVEN HEATING Indicator Light will turn on and off with the elements NOTE The top element helps heat during baking roasting but does not turn red 5 When baking roasting is done turn both the Oven Selector and the Oven Temperature Control Knob to OFF The OVEN HEATING Indicator Light will go off OVEN TEMP OVEN TEMP SELECTOR USING YOUR RANGE
19. heavy skillets Do not store jars or cans above the cooktop 20 Cleaning tips What to use e Cooktop Polishing Creme with paper towel or clean damp sponge Included with your range this creme has been developed especially for cleaning and protecting your cooktop When using follow instructions on container e Razor scraper included with your range Use to remove cooked on soils from your ceramic cooktop Razor blades will not scratch your cooktop Store razor blades out of reach of children NOTE For more information on using the razor scraper see back of scraper package Steps to follow 1 Most spills can be wiped off easily using a paper towel or clean damp sponge as soon as Hot Surface Indicator Lighi s go off 2 Rub Cooktop Polishing Creme into cooked on soil using a paper towel If some soil remains leave some creme on the spot s and follow Step 3 3 Carefully scrape spots with the razor scraper 4 Finish by polishing entire cooktop with Cooktop Polishing Creme and a paper towel Additional tips e Sugar spills and soils such as jellies and candy syrups can cause pitting on the cooktop if not removed while the ceramic surface is still warm Remove as soon as possible after the spill occurs e Remove dark streaks specks and discoloration with Cooktop Polishing Creme e Remove metal marks from copper or aluminum pans with Cooktop Polishing Creme before heating the cooktop again If
