Grasp shelf at both ends 2 Lift shelf up and pull it out To replace the door shelves Qa 1 Insert door shelf hooks into guides on both edges of door liner 2 Push shelf down to lock into place 11 USING YOUR REFRIGERATOR Using the ice cube trays ED20ZK If you don t use the cubes they may shrink The moving cold air starts a slow evapora tion The longer you store cubes the smaller they get To remove ice 1 Hold tray at both ends 2 Twist slightly Using the ice dispenser EpD22zR AWARNING Personal Injury Hazard Tumbling ice and pressure can break a fragile glass Use a sturdy glass when dispensing ice or water Failure to do so could result in personal injury or breakage Ice dispenses from the ice maker storage bin in the freezer When you press the dispenser bar a trapdoor opens in a chute between the dispenser and the ice bin Ice moves from the bin and falls through the chute When you release the dispenser bar a buzzing sound may be heard for a few seconds as the trapdoor closes The dis penser system will not operate when the freezer door is open To dispense ice 1 Press a sturdy glass against the ice dispenser bar Hold glass close to dispenser opening so ice does not fall outside of glass 2 Remove the glass to stop dispensing NOTE The first few batches of ice may have an off flavor from new plumbing and parts Throw the ice away Also take large amounts o

Removing the ice maker storage bin ED22ZR Remove empty and clean the storage bin if e the ice dispenser has not or will not be used for a week or more e a power failure causes ice in the bin to melt and freeze together e the ice dispenser is not used regularly To remove ice bin 1 Pull the covering panel out from the bottom and slide it to the rear 2 Lift the signal arm so it clicks into the OFF up position Ice can still be dispensed but no more can be made 3 Lift the front of the storage bin and pull it out 4 Empty the ice bin Use hot or warm water to melt the ice if necessary Never use anything sharp to break up ice in the bin This can damage the bin and dis penser mechanism 5 Wash with mild detergent Rinse well Do not use harsh or abrasive cleaners or solvents 6 When replacing the bin make sure it is pushed in all the way Then push the signal arm down to the ON position to restart ice production 14 Dee aw oa CEA NN Se USING YOUR REFRIGERATOR Solving common ice maker dispenser problems PROBLEM Ice dispenser won t work Ice dispenser stops working Off taste or odor in ice CAUSE e Freezer door open Ice bin not property installed e Wrong ice in bin Dispenser not used for extended periods causing ice cubes to melt together e Ice dispenser bar held in too long e Ice attracts airborne odors old ice e Water quality e Foods not p

G YOUR REFRIGERATOR Adjusting the shelf glide Use the shelf glide to secure odd shaped items or to separate other items 1 Grasp glide 2 Slide glide along track NOTE Shelf glide cannot be removed Adjusting the refrigerator shelves Adjust shelves to match the way you use your refrigerator To remove the shelves 1 Remove items from the shelf 2 Tilt shelf up at front 3 Lift shelf up at back 4 Pull shelf straight out To replace the shelves 1 Guide the rear shelf hooks into the slots in the shelf supports on the back liner wall 2 Tilt front of shelf up until hooks drop into slots 3 Lower front of shelf to a level position Using the egg bin The egg bin has two pieces the lid and Lid the bin Use the egg bin to hold one two or three dozen eggs To hold one dozen eggs Bin Place a dozen eggs in or out of carton in the bin and cover with the lid To hold two dozen eggs Place two dozen eggs loose in the bin and cover with the lid To hold three dozen eggs Place two dozen eggs loose in the bin Invert the lid and place it on the bin Put a dozen eggs in their carton on top of the lid USING YOUR REFRIGERATOR Removing the crisper and crisper cover To remove the crisper 1 Slide the crisper straight out to the stop 2 Lift the front slightly 3 Slide out the rest of the way 4 Replace in reverse order Pull out to the stop lift the front an

14. f ice from the ice bin not through the dispenser 12 USING YOUR REFRIGERATOR Using the automatic ice maker Factory installed on ED22ZR optional on ED20ZK Here are a few things you will want to know about your automatic ice maker UP to e The ON OFF lever is a wire signal arm stop ice DOWN to make ice automatically maker UP to shut off the ice maker DOWN to NOTE Do not turn ice maker on until it is start ice connected to the water supply Instruc maker tions for ice maker water supply hook up are attached to the back of the refrigerator cabinet e For ED20ZK only The dial or lever on the side of the ice maker changes the size of the cubes e It is normal for ice crescents to be attached by a corner They break apart easily e The ice maker will not operate until the freezer is cold enough to make ice This can take overnight e If ice is not being made fast enough and more ice is needed turn the Refrigerator Control toward a higher number Wait a day and if necessary tum the Freezer Control toward C e Good water quality is important for good ice quality Try to avoid connecting the ice maker to a softened water supply Water softener chemicals such as salt froma malfunctioning softener can damage the ice maker mold and lead to poor ice quality If a softened water supply cannot be avoided make sure the water softener is operating properly and well maintained 13 USING YOUR REFRIGERATOR

17. ils on page 20 Changing the light bulbs AWARNING Electrical Shock Hazard Before removing a light bulb either unplug the refrigerator or disconnect the electricity leading to it at the main power supply Failure to do so could result in per sonal injury To change refrigerator light 1 Disconnect refrigerator from power supply 2 Reach behind the Control Console to remove bulb 3 Replace bulb with a 40 watt appliance bulb 4 Reconnect refrigerator to power supply Refrigerator light 16 USING YOUR REFRIGERATOR To change crisper light 1 Disconnect refrigerator from power supply 2 Pull top of light shield forward until it snaps free 3 Lower light shield to clear bottom supports Pull light shield straight out to remove 4 5 Replace bulb with a 40 watt appliance bulb 6 Replace light shield in reverse order 7 Reconnect refrigerator to power supply To change freezer light 1 Disconnect refrigerator from power supply 2 Push in sides of light shield until it snaps free 3 Replace bulb with a 40 watt appliance bulb 4 Replace light shield 5 Reconnect refrigerator to power supply NOTE Not all commercial appliance bulbs will fit your refrigerator Be sure to replace a bulb with one of the same size and shape 17 USING YOUR REFRIGERATOR Understanding the sounds you may hear Your new refrigerator may make sounds that your old one didn t Because the sou

20. nds are new to you you might be concerned about them Don t be Most of the new sounds are normal Hard surfaces like the floor walls and cabinets can make the sounds seem louder The following describes the kinds of sounds that might be new to you and what may be making them Slight hum soft hiss You may hear the refrigerator s fan motor and moving air Clicking or snapping sounds The thermostat makes a definite click when the refrigerator stops running It also makes a sound when the refrigerator starts The defrost timer will click when the defrost cycle starts Water sounds When the refrigerator stops running you may hear gurgling in the tubing for a few minutes after it stops You may also hear defrost water running into the defrost water pan ice maker sounds e trickling water e thud clatter of ice If your refrigerator has an automatic ice maker you may hear buzzing from the water valve trickling water and the clatter of ice dumped into the bin Running sounds Your refrigerator has a high efficiency compressor and motor It will run longer than older designs It may even seem to run most of the time Saving energy You can help your refrigerator use less electricity e Check door gaskets for a tight seal Level the cabinet to be sure of a good seal e Clean the condenser coils regularly e Open the door as few times as possible Think about what you need before you open the door Get
