Instructions For patients who can understand instructions the following information will help prepare them for the test Inform them that 1 You will insert the ear tip into the ear canal 2 He She will hear a series of sounds for a few seconds up to a minute or so 3 The test will be fastest and most accurate if the patient remains quiet throughout the entire test which will be brief no more than a minute That means no talking minimal movement and the patient should not respond to the sounds in any way Welch Allyn OAE Hearing Screener Directions for Use 705353 Rev E 11 Chapter 4 Care and Maintenance of the Probe Place the clear tube slightly onto Using your fingertip continue pushing The end of the clear tube of the ear Do not pinch foam while attaching the nozzle of the probe body on the top of the foam until the clear tip should cover the nozzle completely ear tip onto the nozzle tube covers the entire nozzle leaving no gap at the base To remove foam tips hold the probe body Do not pull on the foam This will cause suction You may end up pulling the foam off of the clear with your fingertips on top of the nozzle clips of the tube around grooves in the nozzle and will tube while the tube remains on the nozzle Then with the other hand place your fingemails actually impede the removal behind the clear tube at the base of the nozzle and slide the tube toward the end Slide ear tip onto the probe nozzle until
