Figure 3 12 Section 3 AssEMBLY amp Set Up Tire Pressure WARNING Under any circumstance do not exceed manufacturer s recommended psi Equal tire pressure should be maintained at all times Excessive pressure when seating beads may cause tire rim assembly to burst with force sufficient to cause serious injury Refer to sidewall of tire for recommended pressure The tires are over inflated for shipping purposes Check the tire pressure before operating the snow thrower Refer to the tire side wall for tire manufacturer s recommended psi and deflate or inflate the tires as necessary NOTE Equal tire pressure is to be maintained at all times for performance purposes Adjustments Skid Shoes The snow thrower skid shoes are adjusted upward at the factory for shipping purposes Adjust them downward if desired prior to operating the snow thrower CAUTION It is not recommended that you operate this snow thrower on gravel as it can easily pick up and throw loose gravel causing personal injury or damage to the snow thrower and surrounding property For close snow removal on a smooth surface raise skid shoes higher on the auger housing Use a middle or lower position when the area to be cleared is uneven such as a gravel driveway NOTE If you choose to operate the snow thrower on a gravel surface keep the skid shoes in position for maximum clearance between the ground and the shave plate To adjust the

3. 2 Insert chute control rod into chute control head Push rod 4 as far into chute control head as possible keeping the holes in the rod pointing upward See Figure 3 4 Figure 3 4 3 Place chute onto chute base and ensure chute control rod is positioned under the handle panel Install hex bolt previously removed but do not secure with wing nut at this time See Figure 3 5 Figure 3 5 Section 3 AssEMBLY amp Set Up 5 Squeeze the trigger on the joystick and rotate the chute by hand to face forward The holes in the chute control input will be facing up See Figure 3 6 Chute Control Top View Figure 3 6 NOTE The chute will not rotate without squeezing the trigger on the joystick Rotate the joystick to the one o clock position so that the silver indicator arrow on the pinion gear below the control panel faces upward See Figure 3 7 Figure 3 7 NOTE The joystick will be angled slightly to the right at the one o clock position See Top View in Figure 3 6 6 Insert the chute control rod into the pinion gear below the joystick Make sure to line up the hole in the rod with the arrow on the pinion gear See Figure 3 8 NOTE The chute control rod will fit snuggly into the pinion gear Support the rear of the dash panel with one hand while inserting the rod with your other hand to ensure the rod is inserted all the way into the pinion gear NOTE The hole is a ref

CAUTION Operate the snow thrower in open areas and at slow speeds until you are familiar with the drive control and comfortable operating the steering controls CAUTION It is recommended that you wear gloves when using the heated grip If the heated grip become too hot turn it off Figure 5 1 5 Replacing Shear Pins The augers are secured to the spiral shaft with shear pins and cotter pins If the auger should strike a foreign object or ice jam the snow thrower is designed so that the pins may shear If the augers will not turn check to see if the pins have sheared See Figure 5 2 Figure 5 2 CAUTION NEVER replace the auger shear pins with anything other than OEM Part No 738 04124A replacement shear pins Any damage to the auger gearbox or other components as a result of failing to do so will NOT be covered by your snow thrower s warranty WARNING Always turn off the snow thrower s engine and remove the key prior to replacing shear pins 16 Maintenance amp Adjustments Maintenance Engine Refer to the Engine Operator s Manual Tire Pressure Refer to Assembly and Set up section for information regarding tire pressure Shave Plate and Skid Shoes The shave plate and skid shoes on the bottom of the snow thrower are subject to wear They should be checked periodically and replaced when necessary NOTE The skid shoes on this machine have

Special tools are required and several components must be removed in order to replace the snow thrower s friction wheel rubber See your authorized service dealer to have the friction wheel rubber replaced or phone Customer Support as instructed on page 2 for assistance To inspect the friction wheel proceed as follows 1 Allow the engine to run until it is out of fuel Do not attempt to pour fuel from the engine 2 Carefully pivot the snow thrower up and forward so that it rests on the auger housing 3 Remove the frame cover from the underside of the snow thrower by removing four self tapping screws which secure it See Figure 7 4 4 Examine the friction wheel for signs of wear or cracking Troubleshooting Problem Engine fails to start Choke not in CHOKE position Move choke to CHOKE position 2 Spark plug wire disconnected 2 Connect wire to spark plug 3 Fuel tank empty or stale fuel 3 Fill tank with clean fresh gasoline 4 Engine not primed 4 Prime engine as instructed in the Engine Operator s Manual 5 Faulty spark plug 5 Clean adjust gap or replace 6 Key not in ignition on engine 6 Insert key fully into the switch 7 Extension cord not connected 7 Connect one end of the extension cord to the electric starter outlet and the other end toa three prong 120 volt grounded AC outlet Engine running erratically 1 Engine running on CHOKE 1 Move choke lever to RUN p

18. screws which secure it Refer to Figure 6 4 Figure 6 4 gt Apply a light coating of Bostik Regular Grade Never Seez to the hex shaft See Figure 6 5 MN E A SES cy a _ Q CII Figure 6 5 NOTE When lubricating the hex shaft be careful not to get any oil on the aluminum drive plate or the rubber friction wheel Doing so will hinder the snow thrower s drive system Wipe off any excess or spilled oil Adjustments Shift Cable If the full range of speeds forward and reverse cannot be achieved adjust the shift cable as follows 1 Place the shift lever in the fastest forward speed position 2 Loosen the hex nut on the shift cable index bracket See Figure 6 6 Figure 6 6 3 Pivot the bracket downward to take up slack in the cable 4 Retighten the hex nut Auger Control Refer to the Assembly and Set up section for instructions on adjusting the auger control cable Skid Shoes Refer to the Assembly and Set up section for instructions on adjusting the skid shoes SECTION 6 MAINTENANCE amp ADJUSTMENTS 17 18 Drive Control When the drive control is released and in the disengaged up position the cable should have very little slack It should NOT be tight NOTE If excessive slack is present in the drive cable or if the snow thrower s drive is disengaging intermittently during operation the cable may be in need of adjustm
19. secure it See Figure 7 4 Figure 7 4 7 Loosen and remove the shoulder bolt which acts as a belt keeper See Figure 7 5 Figure 7 5 8 Remove the belt from around the auger pulley and slip the belt between the support bracket and the auger pulley See Figure 7 6 SECTION 7 SERVICE NOTE Engaging the auger control will ease removal and reinstallation of the belt Figure 7 6 9 Replace the auger belt by following instructions in reverse order NOTE Do not forget to reinstall the shoulder bolt and reconnect the spring to the frame after installing a replacement auger belt 10 After replacing the auger belt perform the Auger Control test on page 11 of the Assembly and Set Up section Drive Belt NOTE Special tools are required and several components must be removed in order to replace the snow thrower s drive belt See your authorized service dealer to have the drive belt replaced or phone Customer Support as instructed on page 2 for assistance Friction Wheel Inspection Ifthe snow thrower fails to drive with the drive control engaged and performing the drive control cable adjustment fails to correct the problem the friction wheel may need to be replaced NOTE
20. to stop before re adjusting the auger control To readjust the control cable loosen the upper hex screw on the auger cable bracket See Figure 3 14 Figure 3 14 Position the bracket upward to provide more slack or downward to increase cable tension Retighten the upper hex screw Repeat steps 2 through 6 above to verify proper adjustment has been achieved SECTION 3 AssembBLY amp Set Up 11 12 Controls and Features Chute Assembly Shift Lever 4 Way Chute Directional Control Skid Shoe Snow thrower controls and features are described below and illustrated in Figure 4 1 Shift Lever The shift lever is located in the right side of the handle panel and is used to determine ground speed and direction of travel Forward There are six forward F speeds Position one 1 is the slowest and position six 6 is the fastest Reverse There are two reverse R speeds One 1 is the slower and two 2 is the faster GQ Ea GI O F1 R1 R2 Figure 4 1 Skid Shoes Position the skid shoes based on surface conditions Adjust upward for hard packed snow Adjust downward when operating on gravel or crushed rock surfaces See Set Up amp Assembly section Augers When engaged the augers rotate and draw snow into the auger housing Chute Assembly Snow drawn into the auger housing is discharged out the chute assembly Headlight The headlight is located on the handle pane

72. skid shoes 1 Loosen the four hex nuts two on each side and carriage bolts Move skid shoes to desired position See Figure 3 13 Figure 3 13 2 Make certain the entire bottom surface of skid shoe is against the ground to avoid uneven wear on the skid shoes 3 Retighten nuts and bolts securely Auger Control WARNING Prior to operating your snow thrower carefully read and follow all instructions below Perform all adjustments to verify your snow thrower is operating safely and properly Check the adjustment of the auger control as follows 1 When the auger control is released and in the disengaged up position the cable should have very little slack It should NOT be tight 2 Ina well ventilated area start the snow thrower engine Refer to the Engine Operator s Manual packed with your snow thrower 3 While standing in the operator s position behind the snow thrower engage the auger 4 Allow the auger to remain engaged for approximately ten 10 seconds before releasing the auger control Repeat this several times 10 With the throttle control in the FAST rabbit position and the auger control in the disengaged up position walk to the front of the machine Confirm that the auger has completely stopped rotating and shows NO signs of motion If the auger shows ANY signs of rotating immediately return to the operator s position and shut off the engine Wait for ALL moving parts
