Figure 7 2 Remove belt guide Auger Belt To remove and replace your snow thrower s auger belt proceed as follows 1 Allow the engine to run until it is out of fuel Do not attempt to pour fuel from the engine Remove the key to avoid unintended starting 2 Remove the plastic belt cover on the front of the engine by removing the two self tapping screws See Figure 7 1 Figure 7 2 4 Roll the auger belt off the engine pulley See Figure 7 3 Figure 7 1 Figure 7 3 5 Carefully pivot the snow thrower up and forward so that it rests on the auger housing 6 Remove the frame cover from the underside of the snow 8 Remove the belt from around the auger pulley and slip the thrower by removing the self tapping screws which secure belt between the support bracket and the auger pulley it See Figure 7 4 See Figure 7 6 NOTE Engaging the auger control will ease removal and reinstallation of the belt Figure 7 4 7 Loosen and remove the shoulder bolt which acts as a belt keeper See Figure 7 5 Figure 7 6 9 Replace the auger belt by following instructions in reverse order NOTE Do not forget to reinstall the shoulder bolt and reconnect the spring to the frame after installing a replacement auger belt 10 After replacing the auger belt perform the Auger Control

Removal All Other Models If the snow thrower fails to drive with the drive control engaged and performing the drive control cable adjustment fails to correct the problem the friction wheel may need to be replaced Follow the instructions below Examine the friction wheel for signs of wear or cracking and replace if necessary 1 Allow the engine to run until it is out of fuel Do not attempt to pour fuel from the engine 2 Place the shift lever in first Forward F1 position 3 Carefully pivot the snow thrower up and forward so that it rests on the auger housing 4 Remove the frame cover from the underside of the snow thrower by removing the self tapping screws which secure it Remove the right hand wheel by removing the screw and bell washer which secure it to the axle See Figure 7 7 Figure 7 7 SECTION 7 SERVICE do Carefully remove the hex nut which secures the hex shaft to the snow thrower frame and lightly tap the shaft s end to dislodge the ball bearing from the right side of the frame See Figure 7 8 NOTE Be careful not to damage the threads on the shaft Figure 7 8 Carefully position the hex shaft downward and to the left before carefully sliding the friction wheel assembly off the shaft See Figure 7 9 Figure 7 9 NOTE If you re replacing the friction wheel assembly as a whole discard the worn part and slide the n

14. de control de la transmisi n el problema no se corrige es posible que deba reemplazar la rueda de fricci n NOTA Se requieren las herramientas especiales y varios componentes se deben quitar y para substituir el caucho de la rueda de fricci n del lanzador de la nieve Ver a distribuidor autorizado del servicio para tener el caucho de la rueda de fricci n substituido o ayuda de cliente del tel fono seg n lo mandado en la p gina 28 para la informaci n sobre pedir un manual de reparaciones Para examinar la rueda de fricci n seguir de la forma siguiente 1 Deje que el motor funcione hasta que se acabe el combustible 2 Gire con cuidado la m quina quitanieve hacia arriba y hacia delante de manera que quede apoyada sobre la caja de la barrena 3 Saque la cubierta del marco desde debajo de la m quina quitanieve retirando los cuatro tornillos autorroscantes que la aseguran Retire la rueda derecha quitando el tornillo y la arandela de campana que la aseguran al eje Vea 4 Examinar la rueda de fricci n para las muestras del desgaste o de agrietarse Extracci n de la Rueda de Fricci n Todos los dem s Modelos Si la m quina quitanieve no se mueve cuando el control de la transmisi n est engranado y si al realizar el ajuste del cable de control de la transmisi n el problema no se corrige es posible que deba reemplazar la rueda de fricci n Siga las instrucciones que aparecen a continuaci n Examine la rueda

16. de la transmisi n Cuando se suelta el control de la transmisi n y est en posici n desenganchada arriba el cable debe tener muy poco juego NO debe estar tenso NOTA Si el cable de transmisi n tiene demasiado juego o si la transmisi n de la m quina quitanieve se desengrana intermitentemente durante la operaci n es posible que deba ajustar el cable Compruebe el ajuste del control de la transmisi n de la siguiente forma 1 Cuando suelte el control de la transmisi n empuje suavemente la m quina quitanieve hacia delante La unidad deber a avanzar libremente 2 Enganche el control de la transmisi n e intente empujar suavemente la m quina quitanieve hacia adelante Las ruedas no deben girar La unidad no debe avanzar libremente 3 Con el control de la transmisi n suelto mueva la palanca de cambios hacia atr s y hacia delante entre la posici n R2 y la posici n F6 varias veces No deber a haber resistencia en la palanca de cambios Si falla cualquiera de las pruebas anteriores es necesario ajustar el cable de la transmisi n Proceda de la siguiente manera 1 Apague el motor como se indica en el manual del motor por separado 2 Afloje la tuerca hexagonal inferior del soporte del cable de la transmisi n Vea la Figura 6 6 Figura 6 6 Secci n 6 MANTENIMIENTO Y AJUSTES 3 Ubique la m nsula hacia arriba para brindar m s juego 0 hacia abajo para aumentar la tensi n de

18. prior to operating the snow thrower CAUTION It is not recommended that you operate this snow thrower on gravel as it can easily pick up and throw loose gravel causing personal injury or damage to the snow thrower and surrounding property For close snow removal on a smooth surface raise skid shoes higher on the auger housing Use a middle or lower position when the area to be cleared is uneven such as a gravel driveway NOTE If you choose to operate the snow thrower on a gravel surface keep the skid shoes in position for maximum clearance between the ground and the shave plate To adjust the skid shoes 1 Loosen the four hex nuts two on each side and carriage bolts Move skid shoes to desired position See Figure 3 21 NOTE Standard skid shoes shown for illustration Figure 3 21 2 Make certain the entire bottom surface of skid shoe is against the ground to avoid uneven wear on the skid shoes 3 Retighten nuts and bolts securely Chute Assembly Models 2410 2420 2620 and 2625 NOTE The upper chute on model 2840 is also controlled by the 4 way Chute Directional Control See Figure 4 1 The distance snow is thrown can be adjusted by changing the angle of the chute assembly To do so 1 Stop the engine Refer to the Engine Operator s Manual Remove the key from the engine and loosen the plastic knob found on the left side of the chute assembly 2 Pivot the chute upward or downward befor

87. ure 5 1 5 Replacing Shear Pins The augers are secured to the spiral shaft with shear pins and bow tie cotter pins If the auger should strike a foreign object or ice jam the snow thrower is designed so that the pins may shear If the augers will not turn check to see if the pins have sheared See Figure 5 2 Figure 5 2 CAUTION NEVER replace the auger shear pins with anything other than OEM Part No 738 04124A replacement shear pins Any damage to the auger gearbox or other components as a result of failing to do so will NOT be covered by your snow thrower s warranty WARNING Always turn off the snow thrower s engine and remove the key prior to replacing shear pins 18 Maintenance Adjustments Maintenance Engine Refer to the Engine Operator s Manual Shave Plate and Skid Shoes The shave plate and skid shoes on the bottom of the snow thrower are subject to wear They should be checked periodically and replaced when necessary NOTE Deluxe skid shoes on select models have two wear edges When one side wears out they can be rotated 180 to use the other edge To remove skid shoes 1 Remove the four carriage bolts and hex flange nuts which secure them to the snow thrower 2 Reassemble new skid shoes with the four carriage bolts two on each side and hex flange nuts Refer to Figure 6 1 NOTE Augers not shown for clarity Figure 6 1 To remove shave plate 1 Remove the car
