Speed Queen AUTOMATIC DRYER OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS Models HE4503 and HG4509 frem va Irene ae TO DRY CLOTHES FABRIC PERMANENT PRESS ATS TIME Dey CE PUSH TO START 1 CLEAN LINT FILTER See Page 8 LOAD DRYER Open dryer door Shake out laundry and place in dryer See Helps and Hints Pages 9 and 10 CLOSE DOOR Dryer will not operate with door open SELECT DRYING TEMPERA TURE The FABRIC switch con trols the drying temperature SELECT TIMER SETTING in cycle desired PERMANENT PRESS REGULAR DELICATE FLUFF or TIME cycle These cycles control the drying time See Pages 2 through 7 for detailed information START DRYER Press the PUSH TO START button Dryer will operate until the end of the cycle when timer knob indicator reaches the OFF position TO STOP DRYER AT ANY TIME Open dryer door or turn timer knob to OFF position TO RESTART DRYER Close door reset timer if necessary and press PUSH TO START button Speed Queen dryers are designed so they will not operate if the door is open The PUSH TO START but ton which is out of the reach of small children MUST be pressed to start the dryer if it has been stopped for any reason This is a safety feature SIGNAL om tovo SET SIGNAL CONTROL Turn selector to LOUD loudest sound or to OFF no sound or to any level between The signal will buzz for one to two

4. minutes before the dryer stops at the end of each cycle as a reminder to remove the clothes from the dryer The signal will also stop when the door is opened Unless you want to change the sound level the signal need not be set for each load It will buzz automatically Page 1 ABOUT YOUR SPEED QUEEN DRYER AUTOMATIC CYCLES The AUTOMATIC REGULAR cycle is designed to dry large and aver age size loads of similar weight fabrics When properly set for the load the dryer will determine the exact length of drying time shut the heat off when the clothes are dry and will tumble for a determined number of minutes with no heat before stopping at the OFF position Uniformity of fabrics is important to ensure that all items will dry in the same length of time THE TIMER WILL NOT ADVANCE WITH THE SAME REGULARITY IN THE AUTOMATIC CYCLE AS IT DOES IN THE TIME CYCLE See BEFORE YOU CALL FOR SERVICE Page 11 LOAD TYPES FOR AUTOMATIC REGULAR CYCLE NORMAL For cottons such as terry cloth towels cotton knits corduroys cotton work clothes and mixed loads DELICATE For medium and light weight fabrics not permanent press as in sheets dresses dress shirts and for delicate items These cycles have a 5 minute cool down no heat period at the end of the cycle PERMANENT PRESS KNIT cycle For permanent press polyester knits and other synthetics that are no iron This cycle has a 10 minute cool down no heat period before th
5. ng that time the load is tumbled with no heat This helps reduce wrinkling Setting the timer in either of these positions will result in the load being tumbled with no heat Page 5 TIME CYCLE This cycle will operate the dryer for the number of minutes for which it is set up to 75 Use for any load desired Use for items you might want to remove while still damp such as knits woolens or clothes to be ironed Turn the timer knob for the number of minutes required for drying This cycle has a 5 minute cool down no heat period The dryer will not heat if set for 5 minutes or less SUGGESTED DRYER SETTINGS LOAD TYPE FABRIC SETTING MINUTES Temperature Approximate COTTONS Heavyweight NORMAL 40 60 average load Medium Weight NORMAL 35 45 average load NORMAL Lightweight or 15 30 average load DELICATE WOOL 10 15 for blankets NORMAL Use stuffers and Machine Washable remove wool damp PILLOWS Except Foam Rubber NORMAL 2 hours or more reset timer The times suggested are approximate Your loads installation and drying requirements will determine the setting you should use To dry for ironing dampness use less time For wringer washer loads increase the time 10 to 15 minutes BA BS Page 6 FLUFF CYCLE This is a no heat cycle that tumbles for 15 minutes Use for any items that should not be dried with heat Use also for fluffing shag rugs bedspreads pillows blankets
6. thes are too dry the timer has been over set The heat on the DELICATE setting is not sufficient to remove wrin kles from permanent press Always use the SIGNAL with the AUTOMATIC PERMANENT PRESS cycle Page 3 ABOUT YOUR AUTOMATIC CYCLES The timer does not advance at an even pace in the automatic cycles as it does in the time cycle For instance you may notice the timer remains in the same position for 15 minutes before it begins to move THE TIMER IS NOT MAL FUNCTIONING This only means it took 15 minutes for the load to become dry enough to start advancing the timer The length of time it takes for the timer to begin advancing depends on the type and size of load being dried The following are examples of settings used in the various automatic cycles NORMAL Use this setting for bath towels cotton work clothes cotton sheets dresses and shirts For large loads set indicator higher in the normal cycle Page 4 DELICATE Use this setting for sheer and very lightweight cottons and those items labeled Dry With Low Heat PERMANENT PRESS Use this setting for permanent press polyester knits and heavy er and medium weight synthetics The cool amp tumble portion of the cycle tumbles the load without heat for about 16 minutes after the load is dry This helps to eliminate wrin kling in these types of fabrics COOL DOWN PERIODS Each automatic cycle has a cool down period at the end of the cycle Duri
