Print density is low e When using as facsimile machine When key is set to ON the ink save lamp is lit the printing is a half of ink consumption and light Press key to set OFF e When using as Parallel Printer When the print quality is set to Draft Quality by your computer the setting uses less ink than all the other print qualities Set the print quality to High Quality HQ or Excellent Quality before printing Print is not clear Paper has a correct side for printing If the print quality is not as clear as you would like it to be try turning the paper over and printing on the other side Also make sure the paper thickness lever inside the printer is set for your paper type Blurred or smudged characters If the printed characters are blurred or smudged make sure you are using the recommended paper Also make sure the paper thickness lever inside the printer is set for your paper type Smudges on back of printed page if ink happens to get on the printer s platen the back side of the printed page will have smudge marks If this occurs clean the platen by feeding a few sheets of paper through the printer irregular print quality If white streaks appear on the printed page or dots are missing on the printed output clean the print head To clean the print head unplug the AC cord and plug it again Then the SFX P500 will clean the print head automatically before starting the printing when the printin

3. 38 Redial When attempting a fax transmission if a number that has been dialed using direct dialing one touch speed dialing is busy the SFX P500 automatically redials You can also redial manually by pressing the key Automatic redial The dialed number is automatically redialed e The SFX P500 is set to redial a number twice three times for a number dialed using the timer transmission feature These settings can be changed using the feature switches No 05 and No 06 See pages 76 78 e The redial interval is about 3 minute e If the document is removed the automatic redial function is canceled A o 5 A 3 77 2 Manual redial 1 Press REDIAL P The number is redialed If the document is removed the number cannot be redialed e Manual redial can also be used for a phone call 39 ECM Error Correction Mode The SFX P500 performs ITU T ECM which is a significant communication signaling system between G3 facsimile machines equipped with this feature This feature reduces the possibility of damaged data as a result of a poor telephone line by re transmitting partial data When communicating with ECM the telephone charges may increase However using ECM costs less than if the entire page was re transmitted Stand by position of ECM can be set ON OFF or Not return by feature switch No 24 The initial factory setting is ON See pages 76 77 and 79 Temporary setting on or off 1
