1. Verify maintenance of proper clearance to combustible household objects Gasket Seal Glass 1 Inspect gasket seal and its condition Assembly and Glass Inspect glass for scratches and nicks that can lead to breakage when exposed to heat 3 Confirm there is no damage to glass or glass frame Replace as necessary 4 Verify that latches engage properly and glass attachment components are intact and operat ing properly Replace as necessary 5 Clean glass Replace glass assembly if severely coated with silicate deposits that cannot be removed Valve Compartment Vacuum and wipe out dust cobwebs debris or pet hair Use caution when cleaning these and Firebox Top areas Screw tips that have penetrated the sheet metal are sharp and should be avoided 2 Remove any foreign objects 3 Verify unobstructed air circulation Logs 1 Inspect for broken damaged or missing logs Replace as necessary EE 2 Verify correct log placement and no flame impingement causing sooting Correct as neces sary Firebox 1 Inspect for paint condition warpage corrosion or perforation Sand and repaint as neces sary 2 Replace appliance if firebox has been perforated Burner Ignition and 1 Verify burner is properly secured and aligned with pilot or igniter Operation 2 Clean off burner top inspect for plugged ports corrosion or deterioration Replace burner if necessary USE CAUTION WHEN CLEANING HANDLING CERAMIC BURNER 3 Replace ember mat

7. minutes to clear out any gas Smell for gas including near the floor If you smell gas STOP Follow B ofthe safety information above If you don t smell gas go to the next step Push gas control knob in and turn counterclockwise 77 to the pilot position NOTE Knob cannot be turned unless knob is pushed in slightly Do not force PIEZO IGNITER Press down on the gas control knob in pilot position and simultaneously press the piezo igniter This may take many repetitions for lighting ELECTRONIC IGNITER Ifthe unit is equipped with an electronic igniter it should begin sparking right away 9 The pilot should be visible through the door opening 10 After the pilot is lit continue holding control knob down for approximately 30 seconds Release the knob and it will pop back up Pilot should remain lit MiLLIVOLT If it goes out repeat steps 7 through 9 GENERATOR Fui Tf the knob does not pop up when released stop and immediately call your service technician or gas supplier If the pilot will not stay lit after several tries turn the gas control knob clockwise to OFF and call your service technician or gas supplier 11 Reinstall door and face Wait five minutes to allow pilot flame to stabilize and establish proper draft 12 Push down and turn gas control knob counterclockwise to ON 13 Push burner rocker switch on the control panel to ON If thermostat is to be used leave switch in OFF position and set

16. small hole through the ceiling and roof at this point From the roof locate the drill hole and mark the outline of the cathedral ceiling support box Step 3 Remove shingles or other roof covering as necessary to cut the rectangular hole for the support box Cut the hole 1 8 in 8mm larger than the support box outline Step 4 Lower the support box through the hole in the roof until the bottom of the support box protrudes at least 2 in 51mm below the ceiling Figure 5 16 Align the support box both vertically and horizontally with a level Temporarily tack the support box in place through the inside walls and into the roof sheathing LEVEL CATHEDRAL CEILING SUPPORT BOX 2 in 61mm MIN BELOW FINISHED CEILING CUT HOLE 1 8 in 8mm GREATER IN SIZE THAN PATTERN OF SUPPORT BOX AS IT IS PROJECTED ONTO ROOF LINE Figure 5 16 Step 5 Using tin snips cut the support box from the top corners down to the roofline and fold the resulting flaps over the roof sheathing Figure 5 17 Before nailing it to the roof run a bead of non hardening mastic around the top edges of the support box to make a seal between it and the roof Clean out any combustible material from inside the support box Page 18 Quadra Fire Sapphire 250 7233F Figure 5 17 Step 6 Complete the cathedral ceiling installation by following the same procedures outlined in steps 4 through 8 for

19. to the bottom of the ceiling support box add 3 in 76mm to this measurement and cut a section of 4 in 101mm flex pipe to that length the flex should be fully extended Step 3 Connect the end of the flex pipe section to the underside of the top adapter using four sheet metal screws Figure 5 20 Flex 4 Sheet Metal Screws 24 Figure 5 20 January 28 2008 Quadra Fire Sapphire 250 7233E Step 4 Pass the flex pipe down through the center of the chimney system and center the top adapter on the top of the chimney pipe Drill four 1 8 in 3mm diameter holes through the top adapter and into the chimney top Ensure that you are drilling into the metal on the chimney Twist lock the high wind termination cap onto the top adapter Figures 5 21 and 5 22 Figure 5 21 HIGH WIND TERMINATION CAP SHEET METAL SCREWS DRILL FOUR 1 8 in 3mm DIAMETER Figure 5 22 Step 5 Pull the flex pipe down through the ceiling support box until it protrudes approximately 3 in 76mm Connect the flex pipe to the retro connector and attach with sheet metal Screws Step 6 Push the flex pipe back up into the ceiling support box center the retro connector and attach it to the support box with sheet metal screws Step 7 The connection between the appliance and the retro connector may be completed with sections of direct vent pipe Page 19 4 Existing Masonry Chim
