Installation and User s Guide Section 1 Introduction The Prowler 710 Overview Automatically clean your pool in 60 to 90 minutes or less The fastest and most effective robotic cleaner in its class the Prowler 710 features true plug and play convenience It operates totally independently of your pool s circulation system to cover and clean any dimension form or shape of inground pool up to 50 feet in length A Jet Drive propulsion system with a single powerful motor drives the cleaner and enables the cleaner to roll along floors up inclines to the waterline so long as there is an adequate floor to wall angle most vinyl lined pools or radius of about 6 inches from beginning of radius to end most hard surface pools in 60 to 90 minutes or less Scrubs vacuums and filters your entire pool The Prowler 710 works while you relax freeing you from the drudgery of manual pool cleaning and the drawbacks of more cumbersome and costly automatic cleaners The Prowler 710 has a patented built in pump motor which powers the hydroscrubbing jets jet streams of water The hydroscrubbing jets stir up dirt and debris for easy vacuuming by the cleaners suction power without any attention from you Plus the Prowler 710 won t get stuck by ladders and other underwater obstacles Prowler 710 Prowler 710 Installation and User s Guide General Features The Prowler 710 features three way cleaning performance Dual

Use of a washing machine cold water only 15 recommended when visible dirt will not rinse off by other methods DO NOT USE DETERGENT or BLEACH DO NOT MACHINE DRY 3 Turnthe Filter Bag right side out felt surface on the inside re mountthe Bag on the Wire Frames making sure that the Label on the Bagis centered on one of the Lock Tabs Intake Valve Flaps Figure 11 Figure 12 Bottom Lid Assy i Figure 14 9 ei e LongSide Bottom Lid Assy Filter Bag Figure 15 Figure 16 long sides ofthe Bottom Lid Assembly directly between the two U sin the Wire Frames see Figure 16 Pull the Bag toward the middle of each Wire Frame so that the Bag corners are snug against the corners of the Wire Frame Tuck the excess Bag into the U shaped section of the Wire Frames as shown in Figure 16 4 Re install the Bottom Lid Assembly Make sure that neither debris nor the Filter Bag itself interferes with complete closure of the Bottom Lid Assembly A locking sound from each Lock Tab will be heard when locked properly Prowler 710 Installation and User s Guide 11 In Season Storage WARNING Do not allow swimmers in the pool while your pool cleaner is in the pool Cable can trip or entangle swimmers which could result in drowning Do not leave your cleaner in the pool when not in use Doing so will reduce the life of your Filter Bag and cleaner After removing your cleaner from
4. of the pool and is not tangled or hooked as this will limit the movement of the cleaner Prowler 710 Installation and User s Guide 14 Does not reverse direction Take a garden hose with high pressure spray into the Valve Housing at each Valve Port opening Figure 2 Item 9 This should free the Jet Valve System of any debris If this does not solve the problem firmly grab hold of both of your cleaner s Handles Figure 2 Item 5 and forcefully dunk the cleaner in and out of the pool several times to flush out the dirt causing the problem If debris is still lodged such as sand or dirt or there is debris wrapped around the Propeller the Jet Valve or between the Valve Flap and the Valve Housing wall proceed below to Cleaning the Propeller If this still does not solve the problem then use a Phillips head screwdriver to loosen each of the screws at the top of the Valve Housing Figure 2 Item 7 that keep each side of the Housing together by 1 turns each counterclockwise Then repeat high pressure spraying into the Valve Housing Retighten each screw 175 turns clockwise to re secure Cleaning the Propeller Remove Valve Extension Screws Figure 2 Item 8 on one side of cleaner and respective Valve Extension Port Figure 2 Item 9 Bend a common large paper clip into the shape of a hook Figure 18 on page 15 and push the Valve Flap back with your finger to expose the Pump Motor Propeller You may find debris like hair s

6. the pool you should clean and re install the Filter Bag Then rest your cleaner on all four wheels in a dry shaded area along with its Power Supply and properly coiled Floating Cable Off Season Storage When the Pool Season 1s over you should thoroughly clean the Filter Bag Make sure that there 15 no water in your cleaner Completely untangle and then properly coil the Floating Cable Your cleaner and Power Supply should be stored in a dry protected area away from freezing temperatures Prowler 710 Installation and User s Guide 12 Prowler 7 10 Installation and User s Guide 13 oection 3 Troubleshooting Use the following troubleshooting information to resolve possible problems with your Prowler 710 pool cleaner Slower motion or inefficient vacuuming Check to see if the Filter Bag is thoroughly clean FYI The Fine Filter Bag is capable of filtering particles 20 times smaller than the naked eye can see Therefore thorough cleaning of the bag may be required NOTE Use the Fine Filter Bag to trap smaller debris such as algae bacteria sand and silt Use the Mesh Filter Bag to trap larger debris such as leaves acorns twigs and pine needles It may be necessary to rinse with high pressure water and wring the Filter Bag in a bucket of clean water Rinse wring squeeze dry and repeat until the rinse water is clear Check to see if the Intake Valve Flaps Figure 11 on page 10 on the bottom of the cleaner are free
7. to open and close These Flaps should move easily to allow the entry of water and debris If you are not satisfied yet remove the bag reinstall the Bottom Lid without the Bag and run it in the pool If the cleaner moves quickly this is an indication that your Bag is not clean enough and you must repeat the cleaning instructions until the Bag is clean Water flow from the hydroscrub jet tubes Remove the Bottom Lid Assembly Check clear vinyl tubing for Figure 2 Item 6 have no pressure or obstructions blockages and that each are securely connected to water coming out from them the Pump Motor Housing If tubes are obstructed or blocked then remove the tubing from the pump housing by gently pulling the tubing from the pump The tube is not glued in place After the tube is removed you can clear blockage by running water through the tube using the pressure from a garden hose Be sure to replace the tubing securely Does not cover the entire pool Adjust the timing cycle on the Power Supply so that the Pentair cleaner reaches the other side of the pool preferably to waterline and remains there for approximately 2 seconds before changing direction Check to see if the Filter Bag is clean and not clogged with debris Especially fine dirt Check to see if the wheel rotation and axle movement is free of obstructions like hair string or accumulated debris Check to see if the Floating Cable has adequate length to reach all sides
8. al timer which will automatically shut off the cleaner after 2 hours of operation However the Switch will remain in the ON position To re start the cleaner for another cycle switch the Power Supply OFF and then switch it back to the ON position and press the Reset Button See Figure 1 1 Placethe Power Supply ina dry sheltered area at least 10 feet away from the pool see Figure 3 Since the Power Supply is water resistant not water proof it should not be left out in the rain or placed in puddles of water 2 Plugthe Power Supply Cord intoa 1 15V three prong grounded GFCI outlet fan outletis not close enough a grounded 115V extension cord may be used to connect to the nearest outlet see Figure 4 Figure 4 At Least 10 Feet Figure 3 Remember to keep the Power Supply at least 10 feet away from the pool Prowler 710 Installation and User s Guide Placing the Cleaner into the Pool WARNING Risk of electrical shock or electrocution Failure to do so could create an electrical hazard which could result in death or serious injury to pool or spa users installers or others due to electrical shock and may also cause damage to property 7 The power supply MUST be placed and a minimum distance of 10 feet away from the pool 1 Placethecleanerinthe pool upside down gently tilting it side to side to allow any trapped air to escape Once the air is removed turn the cleaner righ
9. esult in death or serious injury to serviceman pool users or others due to electrical shock Read and follow the specific instructions inside this guide WARNING Hazardous suction Do not play with cleaner or cable or apply to body Can trap and tear hair or body parts Cable can trip or entangle swimmers which could result in drowning WARNING not allow swimmers in the pool while pool cleaner is operating Cable can trip or entangle swimmers which could result in drowning WARNING To reduce the risk of injury do not let children use or play with pool cleaner CAUTION Before installing the cleaner in a gunite pool or a pool that is partially or completely tiled repair loose tiles and tighten any loose light rings CAUTION Before installing the cleaner understand cleaner coverage The cleaner was not designed to automatically clean steps or to work under a solar cover It was also not designed to do initial cleanup for a new pool installation CAUTION The unit must be supplied through a residual current device RCD having a rated operating current not exceeding 30mA e The connection to the branch circuit should be consistent with the local and National Electrical Code e Mishandling the unit can result in leakage of lubricants e f the supply cord is damaged it must be replaced by a licensed or certified electrician or a qualified pool serviceman in order to avoid hazards Prowler 710
10. ial clockwise will lengthen the time between reversals to a maximum time of 90 seconds Conversely turning the dial counter clockwise will reduce the time between reversals Once the Time Control 15 set to your satisfaction it does not need to be changed unless you use a different type of Filter Bag or there is an excessive amount of debris in your pool NOTE The alternate Mesh Bag may cause the cleaner to cross your pool in less time and the Time Control should be adjusted accordingly Turn Power Supply switch to the ON position see Figure 9 then press the Reset Button see Figure 9 Figure 7 Figure 8 Figure 9 Prowler 710 Installation and User s Guide The Cleaning Motion in the Pool The size of your pool and the amount of debris in it will determine the length oftime required to clean the pool The time required may vary up to two hours If the cleaner typically reaches the waterline at each side as it 1s supposed to but begins to slow down considerably constantly reverses direction before reaching the sides of the pool or is unable to climb the walls of the pool it is sending a signal that it s time to clean the Filter Bag Removing the Cleaner from the Pool CAUTION Removing your cleaner by its Floating Cable may cause severe damage to the cable requiring costly repairs Keep the cleaner on all four wheels to allow water to drain from its body properly After two hours your cleaner will automatica

13. lly turn itself off Although not necessary it is suggested to turn the Power Supply off by pressing the ON OFF switch See Figure 9 Unplug your cleaner s Floating Cable from the Power Supply see Figure 7 Gently pull your cleaner toward you using the Floating Cable When your cleaner is within reach remove it from the water using the handle only see Figure 10 HANDLE Figure 10 Prowler 710 Installation and User s Guide 10 Cleaning or Changing the Filter Bag 1 Makesurethatthe Power Supply isturned OFF and thatthe cleaner s Floating Cable isunplugged from the Power Supply Place the cleaner on its back on anon abrasive surface and release the two Lock Tabs located on the sides of the unit see Figure 11 Using your thumbs push the Lock Tabs away from the center of the cleaner to unlock the Bottom Lid Assembly one Lock Tab at a time see Figure 12 Remove the Bottom Lid Assembly see Figure 13 NOTE Rest you cleaner on a non abrasive surface i e towel doormat etc to avoid scuffing and scratching your cleaner 2 RemovetheFilter Bag fromthe bag support Wire Frames see Figure 14 Turn the Filter Bag inside out the Fine Filter Bag has a soft felt surface on the inside and wash off visible dirtusing high pressure with a garden hose or a faucet Gently agitate the Bag your hands to help remove fine particles Continue wringing cleaning and squeezing the Bag gently until rinse water is clear

16. t side up and allow it to sink to the bottom ofthe pool with the wheels down See Figure 5 NOTE Your cleaner must be completely submersed in the pool water before it is switched on If the cleaner does not sink it is because air is still trapped inside Repeat Step 1 2 Uncoilthe Floating Cable that extends from the cleaner s body and spread it over the pool water surface as evenly as possible If your pool is elongated rectangular oval etc place the Floating Cable at the middle of the pool s length to allow adequate cable length to reach the entire pool Make sure that the Floating Cable is not tangled or kinked See Figure 6 3 Plug yourcleaner s Floating Cable into the Power Supply see Figure 7 Be sure that the Power Supply ON OFF Switch is in the OFF position Figure 5 Figure 6 Remember to keep the Power Supply at least 10 feet away from the pool Prowler 710 Installation and User s Guide Adjusting the Timing Cycle The Time Control Dial located on the front panel ofthe Power Supply can be adjusted to allow more or less time between the cleaner s forward and reverse motion see Figure 8 Set your cleaner s Time Control Dial to 30 seconds The goal 15 to have your cleaner move across your pool at its widest point from one side to the other and wait at both sides for approximately 2 seconds before reversing Ifthis doesn t happen adjust the Time Control Dial accordingly NOTE Turning the Time Control D
17. tring or a small twig caught in the Propeller Use your paper clip to hook or free the debris and remove it Figure 20 on page 15 Reverses before reaching the opposite Turn the Time Control Dial located on the Power Supply end of the pool clockwise a few degrees to increase the time between reversals Repeat if necessary Check to see if the Filter Bag is thoroughly clean and installed properly Waits too long at the side of the pool Turn the Time Control Dial on the Power Supply counter clockwise before reversing a few degrees Repeat if necessary Floating Cable is twisting Your new cleaner was designed to clean most pools without issue but some pool shapes may cause the Floating Cable to coil or tangle This cleaner operates in a systematic cleaning pattern that varies in nature This may cause the Floating Cable to twist For this reason we have added a new feature to your cleaner This patented feature will allow you to untwist your Cable easily Disconnect the Power Supply Cord from the Power Supply place your cleaner on the ground outside of the pool perpendicular to you Figure 19 on page 15 At the end of the Power Cable located near the connection plug to the Power Supply is a plastic handle Swivel Figure 17 on page 15 Grab the handle firmly as shown in the illustration Walk away from the cleaner while pulling the handle This will cause the Cable to rotate within the plastic handle and force the Cable to untwist
