4. being saved C2602M C 3 07 33 MODIFYING IMAGE RECORDING SETTINGS Image recording settings affect many aspects of working with the DX4000 Higher resolution images provide more detail in recorded video which improves their usefulness when monitoring events These high resolution images also consume more hard disk space which affects how much video can be stored on the hard disk Higher resolution images take longer to transmit to a remote agent over a network When determining the best image recording settings you should weigh your storage needs with your video monitoring needs To modify image recording settings 1 From the main menu of the DX4000 select Record and then press the Enter button The Record menu appears 2 Select Size Rec Rate Quality and then press the Enter button The Size Rec Rate Quality menu appears CAMERA TAS CAMERAZA 2 1 Size Rec Rate Quality gt a e re Camera Fi Rec Rate Quality High Highest a 30 Highest CAMERA o 1521240 M e ADO EEE 93 34 43 om Figure 35 Size Rec Rate Quality Menu 3 For each camera modify the following settings and then press the Enter button e Size Select the resolution at which you want to record video If you select a resolution that is incompatible with the recording rate setting an error message appears on the screen To increase the resolution you must choose a lower recording rate Sizes vary for NTSC and PAL cameras Refer to Ta
5. ystem configurations will be initiahzed a pr Cancel iia nl _ wo 2000 mio EEP Puja ra 04 Figure 21 Factory Default Reset Warning Message C2602M C 3 07 25 Changing the Screen Layout SCREEN ROTATION MODE To change the screen rotation mode press the SCR Mode button on the front panel of the DX4000 or on the remote control until the mode you prefer is in use By default the DX4000 displays four video panes at one time This is referred to as quad mode The following display modes are avallable on the DX4000 e Quad mode Displays a maximum of four video channels at the same time e Single mode Displays a single video channel at a time The same video channel is displayed until you select a different one e Sequence mode Rotates between a maximum of four video channels and displays them in single mode A circular arrow appears in the upper center of the screen The camera title changes as the DX4000 switches to another channel CAMERA2 4 x E gt e a n r f p e i J i alit T 2006701716 a Tus hie Figure 22 Sequence Mode on the DX4000 SCREEN VIEW SELECTION The DX4000 is set up to display a maximum of four video panes on a monitor By default all four channels are displayed in quad mode when you start the DX4000 for the first time To change the screen view to display only one channel at a time press any of the four channel buttons 1 through 4 on the front panel of the unit or on the

Back Up Menu 5 Select the storage device that you want to use and then press the Enter button 6 Select a start and end time if you want to limit the backup to specific days 7 Select the video you want to back up to the device as follows e Select All to back up all video for the time period e Select specific channels to back up video for just those cameras e Select the audio signal for each channel that you want to include in the backup e Select Event if you want to back up video recorded based on events 8 If desired move to the Title field and modify the title for this video as follows e Press the Enter button to select the field e Press the up or down arrow buttons to change each character in the title e Press the right or left arrow buttons to move to the next or previous character e Press the Enter button when you are done 9 Move to the Start command and then press the Enter button to start the backup C2602M C 3 07 10 If there is no media in the drive a warning message appears Insert media into the drive and then press the Enter button There is no media insert a new media Figure 62 Missing Media Warning Message 11 The Back Up menu displays a list of recorded video that matches your selection criteria along with estimates of how much storage space the video clips require Review the list and decide whether or not to back up the video Files that indicate a size of O MB will not be backed up CAMERA2

MO BACKUP DEVICE Start Time 2006 01 10 09 36 e y n A 7 End Time 2006 11 10 09 35 E m Audio of m o O Event g 200 ho rano a Se Oe Th im All CHi CH2 CH3 7 Canero CAMERAS a wie E Figure 59 Back Up Menu The Back Up menu Is used to copy recorded video from the DX4000 to a backup device usually to a writable CD CD RW or DVD DVD RW If your unit does not have a CD RW or DVD RW drive you can back up video to a USB flash memory device so long as it has sufficient storage space for the recorded video clip The following settings appear on the Back Up menu C2602M C 3 07 Device Select the device to which the video will be copied If No Backup Device appears your unit does not contain any writable media in either the CD RW drive DVD RW drive or USB port You cannot back up recorded video if no device is available or if the disc already has data written on it Always provide a blank disc or reformat an existing disc before using it You must reformat discs on a computer Start Time Select the start time for the video that you want to copy End Time Select the end time for the video that you want to copy All Select this option if you want to copy all recorded video to external storage devices The storage device must have sufficient space to copy all of the video Video Select each channel if you want to copy only the video recorded from specific cameras Audio Select each chann

12. default users that are provided with the unit The first time you start the DX4000 you should log on as the administrator so that you can access the menu options to configure the unit Each time you try to access the menu options you will be prompted to select a user ID and enter a password If you access the system from the remote agent application you can log on with the other user accounts manager or operator The default password for all users is 1234 For information on how to change a password refer to Changing Passwords on page 23 NOTE f you attempt to access a protected function you will be prompted to enter the appropriate user ID and password A maximum of four users may be logged on simultaneously If a user logs on to the system with the same user ID from the remote agent applica tion while someone else is already logged on the first person will be logged out of the system automatically A second person may log on to the system with the manager or operator user ID from the web client without interrupting another user s session on the remote agent application To start the DX4000 1 Press the power button on the front panel of the DX4000 or on the remote control if the unit is not already running The Setup screen appears and the Administrator user is selected 2 lf desired press the up or down arrow to select a different user ID You can choose Administrator Manager or Operator Refer to Choosing a User Account on page 15 f
