7. e Use supplied Allen wrench to make the adjustment for each string NOTE This adjustment requires accurate gauges to measure proper string fret distances and the proper radius curva ture between the neck and strings If you are unfamiliar with this type of adjustment we recommend that this setting be performed by qualified personnel at your authorized Peavey dealer String Intonation Accurate string intonation settings ensure that your instrument will play in tune at any point on the neck Although perfect intonation is a physical impossibility with a fretted instrument the correct settings with the bridge and saddle combination of the instrument will maximize the accuracy of individual notes up and down the neck intonation is set by comparing the pitch of an open string tothe pitch of thesame string when it is played one octave higher at the twelfth fret The actual vibrating length of that string is varied until the notes are both at the right pitch The vibrating length of the string is altered by adjusting the individual bridge saddles either forward or backward depending on whether the fretted note is sharper or flatter in pitch than the open note If the fretted note is sharper than the open note the vibrating length of the string must be increased move the bridge saddle to the rear away from the pickup Ifthe fretted note is flat the vibrating length must be shortened move the bridge forward toward the pick
8. e CCW position 3 Low Control The Low Control is centered at 50 Hz and offers 8 dB boost CW and 8 dB cut CCW Mid Control A Mid Control has been included and is of the peak notch variety This control operates trom 100 Hz to 2 kHz with notch centers at 300 Hz CCW and 1 5 kHz GW Some interaction with the Low and High controls will be noticed at either extreme of the Mid Control s operation 5 High Control The High Control is centered at 2 5 kHz and has 12 dB boost CW and 12 dB cut CCW 6 Bypass Switch The Bypass Switch is a two position mini toggle located on the face of the instrument Its purpose is to allow the player to convienently switch to the passive made in the event of battery mal function or failure The up position of the switch is passive and bypasses the internal preamp This allows normal passive operation of the Dyna Bass OD sar COMPARTMENT iC In the passive mode the Volume and Blend controis are operational and the High Control is converted toa standard high rolloff tone control NOTE if the Bypass Switch is operated when signal is present an audible pop may occur This is due to the rapid change in signal level sent to the input of the bass guitar amplifier The down position is active and engages the Dyna Bass preamp with its active tone controls 7 Preamp Input Control This is a screwdriver adjusted control and is accessible through a small hole in the control

10. instrument a stereo cable will not work itis recommended that the cable first be plugged into the Dyna Bass then into the bass amplifier input To ensure longest battery life be sure to unplug the cable from the Dyna Bass when notin use Adjustments Your instrument has been carefully adjusted for accu rate intonation and playing ease at the Peavey factory However your playing style or playing requirements may necessitate additional adjustments at sometime in the future These adjustments should be made by your Peavey dealer However with a little care and by adhering closely to the following instructions you may attempt these adjustments yourself CAUTION PLEASE READ AND UNDERSTAND THE INSTRUC TIONS THOROUGHLY BEFORE ATTEMPTING ANY ADJUSTMENTS Adjusting Torsion Rod To sot the straightness or relief of the neck a Peavey torsion rod wrench No 75031001 must be used available from a Peavey Accessory Center 1 2 3 4 5 6 Tune the instrument to standard A 440 pitch Check for clearance between the strings 1 through 4 and the first fret IMPORTANT Use an accurate ruler or similar gauge for this measurement This clearance should be no less than 1 32 and no more than 1 16 at the first fret Check for clearance between the strings and the twelfth tret This clearance should be no less than 1 16 and no more 1 4 at the twelfth fret To increase clearance loosen countercloc
11. kwise torsion rod nut To decrease clearance tighten clockwise the torsion rod nut The torsion rod nut is located underneath the plastic cover plate on the head stock CAUTION IT IS NOT USUALLY NECESSARY TO ROTATE THE TORSION ROD NUT MORE THAN ONE FULL TURN IN EITHER DIRECTION ONE QUARTER TO ONE HALF TURN IS NORMALLY SUFFICIENT TOMAKEMOST ADJUSTMENTS EXCESSIVE ROTA TION MAY CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE NECK AND TORSION ROD IF EXCESSIVE FORCE IS NECES SARY TO ROTATE THE TORSION AOD NUT YOU SHOULD CONSULT YOUR PEAVEY DEALER OR THE PEAVEY FACTORY BEFORE ANY FURTHER ADJUSTMENT S MADE Repeat steps 1 through 6 until proper clearance has been reached NOTE STRING HEIGHT SHOULD BE ADJUSTED TO FIT YOUR OWN PARTICULAR PLAYING STYLE IT SHOULD BE NOTED THAT SETTING THE STRING HEIGHT TOO LOW WILL RESULT IN EXCESSIVE STRING BUZZ AND RATTLE ESPECIALLY WITH A HEAVY PLAYING TECHNIUE EXCESSIVELY HIGH ACTION WILL RESULT IN INTONATION PROBLEMS AND DECREASED PLAYABILITY String Spacing Adjustment The fully articulated Schaller bridge allows for maxi mum flexibility when adjusting spacing between strings To adjust loosen string then rotate saddle roller to desired position Retune string Saddle Height Adjustment The four individual bridge saddles work to determine the overall string height Individual string saddies can be adjusted to follow the curvature 8 radius of the neck to maximize string fret distanc
12. nt in a normal playing position Do not exert any undue pressure on the neck as it will affect intonation settings 4 Play the first string open G and compare it to the pitch of the samestring when itis playedat the twelfth iret These notes should be the same 5 Using a flathead screwdriver adjust the length of the first string saddie so that the open noteand the fretied note or harmonic are the same NOTE IT WILL OFTEN BE NECESSARY TO RETUNE THE OPEN STRING TO STANDARD PITCH AFTER THE BRIDGE SADDLE POSITION IS ALTERED 6 Repeat steps 4 and 5 for the 2nd 3rd and 4th strings 7 Repeat steps 1 through 6 as necessary until into nation of all strings is accurately adjusted Temperature and Humidity It is important that your instrument be protected from any extremes or sudden changes in either temperatureor humidity The instrument should be stored in its case whenever it is not in use Strings String lite may be greatly extended by frequent clean ing and wiping after use Dirt and perspiration tend to build up on the underside of the strings so it is often necessary to slide a rag between the strings and the fingerboard Dirt laden strings cause tuning and into nation problems as well as rust and corrosion For best performance strings should be changed approximately once a month or every twenty four hours of playing Some players may find that they prefer to change strings more often NOTE YOUR INSTRUMENT I
