Neutral Brown Live As the colours of the wires in the mains lead of this appara tus may not correspond with the coloured markings identi fying the terminals in your plug proceed as follows The wire which is coloured blue must be connected to the terminal which is marked with the letter N or coloured black The wire which is coloured brown must be connected to the terminal which is marked with the letter L or coloured red IMPORTANT A 5 ampere fuse is fitted in this plug Should the fuse need to be replaced please ensure that the replacement fuse has arating of 5 amperes and that it is approved by ASTA or BSI to BS1362 Check for the ASTA mark or the BSI mark on the body of the fuse IF THE FITTED MOULDED PLUG IS UNSUITABLE FOR THE SOCKET OUTLET IN YOUR HOME THEN THE FUSE SHOULD BE REMOVED AND THE PLUG CUT OFF AND DISPOSED OF SAFELY THERE IS A DANGER OF SEVERE ELECTRICAL SHOCK IF THE CUT OFF PLUG IS INSERTED INTO ANY 13 AMPERE SOCKET If in any doubt consult a qualified electrician ml VA INS CR L5_E book Page 5 Monday May 19 2003 4 05 PM Precautions Continued This unit contains a semiconductor laser system and is classified as a CLASS 1 LASER PRODUCT So to use this model properly read this Instruction Manual carefully In case of any trouble please contact the store where you purchased the unit To prevent exposure to the laser beam do not try to open the enclosure D

Press the MEMORY button to store the station The station is stored and the preset number stops flash ing Repeat this procedure for all of your favorite radio sta tions Notes e If you try to store more than 40 stations the message Memory Full appears on the display e When the CR LS is tuned into a station that s transmitting PS Program Service Name RDS information the sta tion s name will be displayed instead of the frequency mal MP INS CR L5_E book Page 23 Monday May 19 2003 4 05 PM Using the Radio Continued e L Selecting Presets You can select previously stored presets as follows I Use the INPUT lt gt buttons or the remote controller s INPUT a y but tons to select AM or FM 2 Use the PRESET lt gt buttons or the remote controller s 1 lt lt 1 but tons to select a preset Deleting Presets You can delete unwanted presets as follows I Select the preset that you want to delete See the previous section for information on selecting presets In this example preset 3 has been selected 2 While holding down the MEMORY button press the FM MODE button The selected preset is deleted and its number disap pears from the display RDS Radio Data System The Radio Data System RDS allows FM radio stations to broadcast various information to RDS compatible radios
11. and 2 P M everyday you can turn it off as follows I Press the TIMER button repeatedly until Clock appears on the display as shown 2 Press the ENTER button AccuClock appears on the display as shown These asterisks appear when the ACCUCLOCK function is on If Manual Adj appears use the Up Down A buttons to select AccuClock 3 To turn off ACCUCLOCK press the DISPLAY button The asterisks disappear indicating that the ACCU CLOCK function is off To turn the ACCUCLOCK function on again press the DISPLAY button so that asterisks appear ha lt mal Se l gt CR L5_E book Page 17 Monday May 19 2003 4 05 PM Powering Up and Setting the Clock Continued e L Displaying the Time in Standby Mode You can set the CR L5 so that the time is displayed while the CR L5 is in Standby mode I With the CR L5 turned on press and hold the CR L5 s STANDBY ON but ton for more than 2 seconds To turn off the time display repeat this procedure Notes e Setting the CR LS to display the time will slightly increase the power consumption in Standby mode Displaying the Day amp Time You can display the day and time at anytime I Press the CLOCK CALL button The day and time appear on the display Press the DISPLAY button to toggle between 12 and 24 hour formats Press the CLOCK CALL button aga

E book Page 14 Monday May 19 2003 4 05 PM Connecting Antenna e L This chapter explains how to connect the supplied indoor FM antenna and AM loop antenna and how to connect com mercially available outdoor FM and AM antennas AM antenna push terminals FM antenna connector ANTENNA muzsa OOOO Connecting the Indoor FM Antenna The supplied indoor FM antenna is for indoor use only I Attach the FM antenna as shown ANTENNA FM 75Q Insert the plug fully into the socket Once your CR LS is ready for use you ll need to tune into an FM radio station and adjust the position of the FM antenna to achieve the best possible reception 2 Use thumbtacks or something similar to fix the FM antenna into position Caution Be careful that you don t injure yourself when using thumbtacks If you cannot achieve good reception with the supplied indoor FM antenna try a commercially available outdoor FM antenna instead see page 15 Connecting the AM Loop Antenna The supplied indoor AM loop antenna is for indoor use only I Assemble the AM loop antenna inserting the tabs into the base as shown P A 2 Connect both wires of the AM loop antenna to the AM push terminals as shown The antenna s wires are not polarity sensitive so they can be connected either way around Make sure that t
