2. o Flash Photography This section explains how to take pictures with a flash Flashes are used in lighting up and taking pictures of backlighted subjects or the dark area as well as in taking pictures in dark places The camera has features such as flash synchronization effect which fires the flash at the beginning or end of a slow shutter E 20 Refer to Flash Synchronization Effect P 51 for details Flash Preparation If a flash is needed for a certain picture the orange lamp inside the viewfinder will light up when the shutter release button is pressed down halfway The orange lamp in the viewfinder blinks when the flash is required Press the flash pop up button The flash will pop up NOTE m e The flash is being charged while the Orange lamp is blinking In this status it is not possible to take a picture Wait until the Orange lamp goes off to take the picture e When the shutter is popped up or retracted while the shutter release button is kept pressed halfway the orange lamp will start blinking and no shooting will be possible Release your finger from the shutter release button and then press it again Flash Illumination Range ISO WIDE TELE 100 0 3 3 6 m 1 12 ft 0 3 25m 1 8 2ft 200 0 9 5 1 m 3 16 7 ft 0 6 3 5 m 2 11 5 ft 400 1 2 7 2 m 3 9 23 6 ft 0 8 5 0 m 2 6 16 4 ft Flash Modes This camera has 4 flash modes Use them according to

Preprint Setup You can store information such as the number of copies to print out on either SmartMedia or a CompactFlash This procedure is called preprint setup Preprint setup is only effective for prints made at stores that can print out using DPOF ready printers and DPOF systems Preprint mark The number SM dh 2 540 Preprinting of All Images SELCEG ALE CEEAR AEE OFF DATE TIME CARD INDEX OEE COJN E 58 Setting the Number of Copies to Print Out This procedure stores the number of copies to print out via a printer etc The actual printing is done by simply loading the card media into a print er The images will be printed out in the specified number of copies EI Set the mode dial to PI select images to set preprint with the jog dial E Press the A M button The window where you specify the number of copies will appear on the LCD monitor 4 Specify the number of copies with the right left point of the jog dial E Press the OK button The green mark will appear when the number is one and the red mark and the specified number when the number is more than one in the upper right hand corner of the image as it is displayed on the LCD monitor MEMO m e To cancel preprint setup select 0 after displaying images to cancel or select CLEAR ALL from the menu Preprinting of All Images The below procedure explains how to set up all images on the media selec
