3. theemp ty machine should be run using the same pro gramme U se a normal amount of detergent WASHING TIME The Q symbol indicates that the remaining washing time is shown at the bottom right in the display within ten minutes after the wash ing programme starts W hen a programme is choosen the washing timeis calculated T he calculated washing time can vary from timeto time dueto the tempera ture of incoming water The remaining time is recalculated during the programme and may then be increased or reduced to some extent 11 oC WASHING WITH EASY CONTROL Easy washing by pushing a few buttons Your washing machine works like a radio with pre set tuning Instead of radio stations howe ver you select your preferred washing program me in this case We have preset the buttons with four common programmes Switch on the machine and press the button for your preferred programme You can change the temperature and the spin speed by pressing one or more extra buttons You then simply press the Start button To alter the settings for OID You can create your own favourite program mes if you wish T here is a range of different programme types You can also enter various options such as D elayed start Pre soaking and Super rinse so that the programmes suit your particular needs Chapter 11 M aking your own washing pro grammes tells you what to do to create a tem porary or permanent

6. fibres T hese materials require alot of space if they are not to crease Fill the drum only to half load when washing man made synthetic fibres Se lect a short spin by selecting a spin speed of 800 revolutions minute or lower NOTE Viscose and acetate are brittle when wet HIGH WATER LEVEL If you require more water for the main wash and rinsing you can use the H igh water level option See Chapter 11 M aking your own pro grammes for details of how to select this op tion H igh water level is always used in the Wool and H and programmes AVOID CREASES WASHING You should use the Anti crease option to avoid creased washing T his option means that the washing will continue to be rotated for two hours after the programmehas ended See C hap ter 11 M aking your own programmes for de tails of how to select this option MINIMIZING ALLERGY HAZARDS This washing machine offers a Super rinse function You should use this to take account of persons with a sensitive skin for example persons with allergies and infants See Chapter 11 M aking your own programmes for details of how to select this option SAVE TIME Use the White C oloured programme to save time T his programme has a shorter main wash than N ormal but it is often sufficient for nor mally soiled washing ECONOMY AND EFFICIENCY You can save a lot of energy by not using a stronger programme than necessary Without increasing the temperature the was
7. programme It also inclu des a list of all the available programmes and options T hefollowing step by step instructions are pro vided to help you to achieve the best possible washing result SORT THE WASHING For tipsand advice see Chapter 8 Before washing NOTE Empty the pockets Coins nails and similar items can cause damage to the machine TURN ON THE MAIN POWER SWITCH OPEN THE DOOR AND PUT IN THE WASHING Press the button and a key will appear on the bottom edge of the display door will open after three seconds Put in the washing T he table above the washing programme in dicates how much washing you can put in for each programme PUTTING IN THE WASHING AND DETER GENT Follow the recommendations on the de tergent packet for how much detergent should be used T he capacity of the machine is for 6 0 kg washing If you put a smaller amount in the machine you can reduce the amount of deter gent accordingly Powder detergent Pour in the powder for main wash 2 and any pre wash 1 see figure Pre wash PY pf nnm liquid detergent W hen using liquid detergent follow the deter gent manufacturer s recommendations Detergent ball or dosing bag If you are using a detergent ball or dosing bag load it directly with the washing and select a programme without pre wash Fabric conditioner Pour conditioner in the compartment marked e Follow the maker s instructions NOTE D o
8. this until the finished programme appears in the display together with the spin speed and any preferred temperature and other options T he text Stop will be displayed on the bottom line ORCI You can now use the programme without sto ring it temporary programme Close the door and press the button to start the pro gramme Store the programme permanently If you wish to store the programme for use whenever you intend to usethe washing mach ine press the button before starting The button selected by you originally 1 4 will appear at the bottom left of the display You can now select the programme by pres sing the button chosen by you in Step 1 NOTE TheD elayed start option and temperatures over 60 C are not stored permanently IMPORTANT If you store a programme by mistake you can reset it to its settings at the time of delivery see Reset programme later in this C hapter TIP If you do not wish to index through all the settings options you can terminate the input by pressing the Ene button ON CE To store the programme you must then press the button once more INTERRUPT INPUT If you change your mind and wish to interrupt the input sequence you should switch off the machine with the main power switch When you switch it on again you can start from the beginning or select one of the pre set programmes as usual 21 22 RESET PROGRAMME If you wish to revert to the se
9. to odour problems To avoid these problems we recommend running a 95 programme on a few occasions each year You should use small quantity of detergent at the sametime It is not necessary to fill themachine with washing CLEANING HOLES UNDER THE RIDGES If you suspect that objects eg nails paperclips pinsand so on havefallen through the washing drum you should check the space underneath the ridges Such items can corrode and cause rust stains on your washing N ails and other sharp objects can tear fabrics Proceed as follows 1 Usea screwdriver or similar tool 2 Insert the screw driver in themidd le hole in the ridge and carefully push the screwdriver handle to the left 3 Grip theridgewith your other hand Xx and lift it mi 5 Remove any objects you as illustrated 4 Lift up the ridge 6 Position the ridge in the fixing hole with the F marking towards you Ensure that the ridge lugs fit firmly in their holes in the drum Slide the ridge away from you until it stops HARD WATER If you live in an area that has hard water the washer drum may become coated with a grey white deposit To get rid of the deposit pour a packet of citric acid about 20 gram in thedrum and run the Normal programme at 95 C You will find citric acid on the spice shelf in your grocer s store 27 28 13IRO H ESHDOIING DOOR WILL NOT OPEN 1 Check that the main switch 50 2

13. a trap which coins hairpins and similar items fasten Clean the coin trap and the drain pump as follows 1 Ensure that the main power switch is turned OFF 2 Using the parti tion piece for liquid detergent open the drain pump cover as illus trated 3 Drain off the wa ter eg in a bowl by pulling loose the drain hoseon theinsideof the cover 4 Open the pump by turning its cover antic lockwise Lift off the cover and coin trap 5 Clean out any objects and foreign matter from the pump housing Ensure that the pump blade at the rear can be rotated 6 Screw on the cover and coin trap put the drain hose back on the cover lug and close the co b ver CLEANING THE DETERGENT COMPARTMENT Pull out the detergent compartment as far as it goes Flush and brush the detergent compartment to remove any residues Put the detergent compartment back in NOTE Do not wash the detergent compartment in a dishwasher CLEANING THE OUTSIDE OF THE MACHINE Usea mild detergent to clean the outside of the machine Do not use any solvents they can da mage the machine NOTE Do not spray the machine with water CLEANING THE INSIDE OF THE MACHINE TO PRE VENT PROBLEMS WITH ODOUR Today s modern detergents mean that washing at low temperatures is often sufficient H owe ver this can result in small deposits forming inside the machine T hese can eventually lead
14. alter certain settings and options after you have started the washing programme 15 16 Hold down the button for three se conds Within 15 seconds of releasing the but ton you must index forward with the end but ton to the new desired setting M ake any alte rations with In order to make an alteration however the part of the programme that you wish to alter must not have been activated yet Temperature can be altered before the main wash has started Spin speed can be altered before the water is pumped out after the main wash Super rinse can be changed before pumping out the water after the main wash E2 can bechanged beforethe main wash has started Anti crease can be changed for thefinal spin PROGRAMME COMPLETED The text stop on the lower edge of the display indicates that the programme is completed Press the button and a key will ap pear on the bottom edge of the display The door will open after three seconds WHEN WASHING IS FINISHED Turn off the main power switch Close the washer door to prevent small children from crawling into the machine DELAYED START 1 24 HOURS If D elayed start is set to 5 hours for example this meansthat the machine will start the pro gramme 5 hoursafter you pressthe but ton If you wish to delay the start of any pro gramme temporarily you should proceed as follows before pressing the button
15. and Drain Anti crease Anti crease On means that the machine will rotate the drum for a few seconds every minute for two hours after the programme is completed You can end the program me during this period with the door opening button Cannot be used together with No spin and No Drain Cannot be selected for programme ty pes Rinse Spin and Drain High water level High water level On means that an extra quantity of water is used in the main wash and rinses Can be used for all programmes apart from Wool and Hand These always use a high water level CREATE YOUR OWN WASHING PROGRAMME 1 Press one of the buttons under which you wish to store your programme You can select any button you like if you only want to make a temporary programme 2 Index forward with the button to the setting or option that you wish to change If the child lock isactivated nothing will happen H old down the button for 3 seconds and then press as usual the programme types settings and options are described in the table alongside Select Program Quick lt Next gt OOOO 3 If you wish to change a setting you should index forward or back with the gt but tons until the desired setting appears in the dis play Select Program Wool lt Next gt OOO 4 Then index further with the button to the next setting option and change it in the same way if required 5 Repeat
