1. Installation of Lytecaster Frame in Kit 1102HF and Ballast Assembly Read and understand these instructions before installing fixture Page 1 of 2 This fixture is intended for installation in accordance with the National Electrical Code and local or Federal code specifications To assure full compliance with codes and requlations check with your local electrical inspector before installation To prevent electric shock turn off electricity at fuse box before proceeding Retain these instructions for maintance reference WARNING RISK OF FIRE Do not install insulation within 3 inches of fixture sides or wiring compartments nor above fixture in such a manner as to entrap heat NOTE Complete fixture consists of Frame in Kit Ballast Assembly and Reflector Trim Each must be ordered HER separately FIG B FIG C FIG D FIG E 2 Wire in 3 Close in 4 Snap on 5 Push up FRAME IN FIG A WOOD JOIST CONSTRUCTION FIG F Line up bottom edge of Adjustable Mounting Bar with bottom of wood joist Fasten Mounting Frame to wood joist by nailing Mounting Bar Tab or nail into joist SUSPENDED CEILING CONSTRUCTION FIG G Position notched area of Adjustable Mounting Bars on top of T Bar for proper spacing to finished ceiling Lock Mounting Bars by bending Tab underneath T bar Bead FIG G1 For round T Bar Bead use screws to lock Mounting Bars FIG G2 NOTES a2. Adjustable Mounting Bars are pre assembled on long side of Mounting Frame for rigidity and ease of installation FIG F Locking screw is provided to lock frame in a desired position Mounting bars can not be mounted on short side of frame b Mounting Bars can be extended to 24 The Mounting Frame can be mounted off center Centering slots act as guides to align adjacent frames c For suspended ceilings make certain that bottom of Mounting Frame is no higher than 1 above ceiling line and notched area of Adjustable Mounting Bars are positioned on top of T Bar FIG G USS Patent Nos 4 313 154 5 045 985 Lo ma LIGHTOLIER a GENLYTE company I 631 Airport Road Fall River MA 02720 fe 508 679 8131 FAX 508 647 4710 1996 Installation of Lytecaster Frame in Kit 1102HF and Ballast Assembly Page 2 of 2 2 WIRE IN FIG B A Install ballast onto the frame by placing Tab of Ballast Plate over the frame The mounting bars must slide into the slots in the plate Install screw through tab into frame FIG H B Ballast Assembly HPSM50 HPSM70 MHM100 MHM75 MPM70 and MPM100 can be wired to 120V or 277V supply Follow FIG for wiring diagram NOTE for MHM75 and MHM100 use lamps identified by lamp manufacturer For use in open or closed fixture 1 Fasten the flexible conduit from ballast assembly to the junction box by passing wires with connectors through 7
3. 8 dia j box hole and pushing conduit connector into hole Plug together dual connectors Plug blue fixture lead single connector to black ballast lead single connector for 120V supply to red ballast lead single connector for 277V supply 4 Connect 120V or 277V hot supply lead to black fixture lead Connect white neutral supply lead to white fixture lead Connect supply ground to bare copper fixture lead Note that supply connections can be made before the ballast assembly is attached and wired C Ballast Assembly MHM32120 Follow FIG J for wiring diagram 1 Follow steps 1 and 2 of section B 2 Plug blue fixture lead single connector to black ballast lead single connector 3 CLOSE IN FIG C Install plasterboard or other dry type ceiling as required Hole in board can be cut either on floor or after the board is secured in the ceiling Use Mounting Frame opening as cutting guide template for hole make sure Roto Clips are rotated out of hole area by turning counterclockwise NOTE For wet plaster ceiling use Plaster Ring Accessory No 1961 order separately 4 SNAP ON FIG D See separate instruction sheet for your choice of reflector trim 5 PUSH UP FIG E See separate instruction sheet for your choice of reflector trim WARNING Use only with trims designated by Lightolier Inc Use of other manufacturers trims void the Underwriters Laboratories Listing and could constitute a fire hazar
4. d TO INSPECT OR REPLACE BALLAST 1 TURN OFF POWER 2 Remove Reflector Trim from ceiling to get access to ballast through ceiling opening 3 Remove ballast assembly by loosening mounting Screw then lift Ballast Assembly and pull back through the ceiling opening FIG K 4 Inspect and replace Ballast by following section 2 WIRE IN instructions on this instruction sheet 5 Reinstall Reflector Trim wn Forure Lead Single Connector AG 1 Ballast Leads Sngle Connector Forure lead Single Connector AG J Wining for MHM32120 T Ballas Lead Single Connector Supply Leads FIG K Splice Box Plate Banan Tab allast nee Screv Sd Pav eng of ballast Slots for Mounting Bar 1996
