4. 3 Push the lint screen firmly back into place and close the lid IMPORTANT Do not run the dryer with the lint screen loose damaged blocked or missing Doing so can cause overheating and damage to both the dryer and fabrics e Some towels made of synthetic fibers and natural fibers polyester and cotton blends may shed more lint than other towels causing your dryer s lint screen to fill up faster Be sure to remove lint from the lint screen before and after drying new towels As needed cleaning Laundry detergents and fabric softeners can cause a residue buildup on the lint screen Clean the lint screen with a nylon brush every six months or more frequently if it becomes clogged due to a residue buildup Use the following method 1 Wet both sides of lint screen with hot water 2 Wet a nylon brush with hot water and liquid detergent scrub lint screen with the Bul brush to remove residue RAM buildup 3 Rinse screen with hot water 4 Thoroughly dry lint screen with a clean towel replace in dryer Clean Screen Alert Clean Screen alert indicates excessive lint is present on your lint screen A full lint screen restricts airflow and reduces drying effi ciency When the Clean Screen alert glows stop the dryer immediately and clean the lint screen NOTE Clean your lint screen before each load Do not wait for the lint light to glow 14 C aring for Your Dryer Cleaning the dryer exterior and wi

Drying tips e Close zippers snaps and hooks to avoid snagging other items Remove heat sensitive trim that can be damaged by drying Tie strings and sashes e Sharp or metal objects can damage your dryer Check pockets for pins clips money bolts nuts etc Do not lay these objects on your dryer after emp so they will not tangle tying pockets Turn pockets inside out e Check garments to make sure all spots e Place small items such as baby socks or and stains were removed during the wash hankies in a mesh bag for easier removal Do not tumble dry soiled or stained items e Articles to be ironed should be removed Heat may permanently set stains from the dryer while still damp 17 Laundry Tips Drying special care items Most garments and household textiles have manufacturer s care labels with laundering instructions Always follow care label directions when they are available Page 11 includes drying instructions for most types of washables The chart below provides drying instructions for special care washables ITEMS DRYING INSTRUCTIONS Blankets and Machine drying knitted woolens is not recommended Block to shape woolens when wet and allow to air dry Line dry blankets in shade on a breezy day over two lines Pin edges together and straighten them When partly dry turn the blanket over repin and restraighten When dry brush nap eCotton rayon Dry as recommended for permanent press fabri

7. to handle CYCLES CYCLE CONTROL KNOB Timed Dry Use this cycle to complete drying if some items are damp after Automatic drying Timed drying is also useful to dry delicate items that require a short drying time QUICK PRESS cycle The QUICK PRESS cycle removes wrinkles from clothes that have been packed in a Suitcase or from items not removed from the dryer at the end of a cycle As soon as the dryer stops fold or put the items on hangers continued on next page Operating Your Dryer CYCLES CYCLE CONTROL KNOB Automatic cycles Use an automatic cycle to dry most loads e Your automatic cycle shuts off when the selected dryness is reached e The Cycle Control Knob will not move until the load is almost dry After the cool down the Cycle Control Knob automati cally moves to an OFF area and tumbling stops Dry most loads using the Energy Preferred Automatic Setting If the load is drier than you like select a setting closer to LESS DRY the next time you dry a similar load If the load is not as dry as you like complete drying using the Timed Dry cycle Select a setting closer to VERY DRY the next time you dry a similar load Energy preferred automatic setting Automatic Delicate Use this cycle to dry delicate items and knits that require a short drying time Automatic Regular Heavy The indicates the Energy Preferred Automatic Setting This cycle can be used for heavyweight and med

11. cs on page 11 synthetic blankets eElectric blankets If manufacturer recommends machine drying electric sheets 1 Place one or two dry towels in the dryer and preheat 3 5 minutes woolen blankets on a high setting This will dry blankets faster and help avoid washable woolen pilling garments 2 Put blanket in dryer with warm towels Set control for 20 minutes 3 Check after 10 minutes Remove when still damp Overdrying and long tumbling can cause shrinking and pilling 4 Place blanket on flat surface or over two lines to finish drying Gently stretch to original size and shape 5 When completely dry brush gently to raise nap Press binding with cool iron if needed Curtains Remove drapery weights and hooks before laundering slipcovers For slipcovers replace while still slightly damp They will dry to fit tightly eDraperies Dry only a few minutes slipcovers 1 Leave room in dryer for load to fluff 2 Remove from dryer while slightly damp Do not overdry Diapers baby Wash and dry small items in a mesh bag or pillowcase for clothes convenient handling Remove diapers and cotton knit items while still slightly damp They will feel softer shrink less and be easier to fold Elastic items Remove from dryer while still slightly damp Flame retardant Some items have been treated with a flame retardant finish to finishes improve their resistance to buming Such items are clearly labeled To retain flame retardant qual

15. emoved f _aundry Tips This section provides information on preparing clothes for drying drying guidelines and instructions for drying special care items NOTES e Refer to your washer Use and Care Guide for proper washing techniques and addi tional laundry tips e See pages 3 and 4 of this book for Important Safety Information Sorting clothes e Separate dark from light colors colorfast from non col orfast Items properly sorted for washing are usually properly sorted for drying e Separate heavy fabrics denim towels from light fabrics synthetics permanent press Choosing load sizes e Mix large items with smaller items Load the dryer by the amount of space items take up not by their weight Do not overload the dryer Over Separate lint givers towels chenille from lint takers corduroy synthetics perma nent press When possible tum lint takers inside out e For better tumbling action when drying only a few small items add one or two lint free towels This also prevents small lightweight items from blocking airflow e Reduce wrinkling of permanent press crowding causes uneven drying and items and synthetics by drying smaller wrinkling and can cause items to wear out loads and removing items from the dryer faster because of pilling as soon as tumbling stops You may need to rearrange large items sheets blankets tablecloths during a cycle to reduce balling or rolling up

18. iumweight cotton items such as towels blue jeans cordu roys bedspreads and linens Operating Your Dryer CYCLES Automatic Permanent Press Extra Care Use this cycle to dry permanent press items and some synthetic fabrics If you have selected the Extra Care SMOOTH GUARD cycle and are unable to unload the dryer within 5 minutes after tumbling stops the SMOOTH GUARD cycle automatically takes over to protect your clothing from wrinkles If you have not selected the Extra Care SMOOTH GUARD cycle the dryer stops after cool down See page 10 CYCLE CONTROL KNOB Understanding the SMOOTH GUARD cycle When you are unable to remove a load from the dryer as soon as it stops wrinkles can form The SMOOTH GUARD cycle tumbles the load without heat every few minutes for up to 40 minutes after the Permanent Press Extra Care cycle ends This tumbling rearranges and fluffs the load to avoid wrinkles that set in when the load remains in the dryer after the Automatic Permanent Press Extra Care cycle Select the SMOOTH GUARD cycle by using the Extra Care Selector See page 10 If you do not open the door within a few minutes after the Automatic Perma nent Press Extra Care cycle stops the SMOOTH GUARD cycle takes over to protect the load NOTE A signal sounds every few minutes during the SMOOTH GUARD cycle The signal stops and the cycie ends when the dryer door is opened
19. lectrical power before attempting to service your dryer Shut off gas valve if you have a gas dryer Do not wash or dry items that are soiled with vegetable or cooking oil These items may contain some oil after laundering Due to the remaining oil the fabric may smoke or catch fire by itself e Store flammable solvents or fluids away from your dryer Dry cleaning solvents or fluids should never be put directly into your dryer e Install and or store dryer where it will not be exposed to the weather e Do not tamper with the controls e You are responsible for making sure that your dryer is installed repaired and has parts replaced by a qualified person e Use only fabric softeners specifically labeled as not being harmful to the dryer Do not allow lint to build up inside the dryer or exhaust system Cleaning should be done periodically by a qualified person e Clean lint screen before or after each load e Do not let dust lint paper rags chemi cals etc pile up around or under the dryer e Dryer must be electrically grounded See the Installation Instructions Be sure that your dryer is properly installed and leveled ona floor that can support the weight in a well ventilated room is connected to the proper outlet and electrical supply is properly connected to fuel and exhaust systems gas dryers must be vented outdoors is not installed against draperies or curtains or on carp
20. lightly damp Stretch into shape and lay flat to finish drying 19 Laundry Tips Using dryer fabric softeners Dryer fabric softeners are recommended for e Remove fabric softener stains by wetting reducing static cling and for softening the stains and rubbing them with liquid fabrics Always follow package instructions detergent or bar soap and rewash carefully Some fabric softeners can clog the lint e Put one fabric softener sheet on top of the load before start ing the dryer Do not add a fabric softener sheet after the cycle has started Instant heat can cause the fabric softener to spot fabrics screen and slow drying Use fabric soften ers labeled as dryer safe Saving energy e Use an Automatic cycle to dry most loads Shorten drying times by exhausting dryer e Dry only full loads without overdrying properly and cleaning exhaust duct and e Avoid overloading dryer adding wet items outside exhaust hood as needed to a partly dried load or opening the door Keep the lint screen clean unnecessarily Use your dryer in a room where room air e Plan your laundry to dry one load after temperature is above 45 F 7 C another A warm dryer shortens drying Sort loads by fabric weight and type time Vacation care 1 Unplug power supply cord or turn off electrical power supply 2 Clean lint screen 20 roubleshooting Most laundering problems are easily solved if you understand the cause Che
