Make sure that the lower tiple clamp is sitting flush with the lip on the bottom of the steerer tube If it is not loosenthe steererclamp boltand side the teererup untilthe bottom lip on the seererisagainstthe bottom sde of the lowertriple clamp Retorque the teererclamp boltto 85in Ibs Side the crown race onto the teerertube and installthe race using a side hammerorotherrace installation tool Inspectthe race and make sure thatthe bottom ofthe race stsflush with the crown race seat onthe lowertriple clamp and thatthe race isfimlyin place Step 4 Install the fork 1 Side the teerertube into the headtube of the bike and while supporting the bottom of the teerertube and lower triple clamp with yourhand dide the uppercup ofthe headsetonto the steerer Route both derailleurand rear brake cables between the two triple clamps and in between stanchion tube and head tube CAUTION DO NOTroute cables outside of fork legs Loss of control and serious injury may result Always route cables between fork leg and head tube Slide the uppertriple clamp onto steerer tube and the stanchion tubes and temporarily tighten the steerer cinch bolt Important Do not cutthe steerer tube at this point Step 5 Decide where you want the upper triple clamp mounted The postion of the uppertriple clamp on the Chubby forksissomewhat flexible Youcan place the uppertiple clamp directly ontop ofthe headset or you
3. can space so thatit clamps up higher on the stanchions Remember the position of the lowertriple clamp is FIXED and should notbe moved ordown The sepsbelow willshow you how to mountthe uppertriple clamp properly in any location 1 Withthe uppertriple clamp temporarily installed side the stem with handlebarattached onto the teererand postion it where you would like it Tighten the stem cinch boltsand siton the bike to check the handlebar height Do notride the bike like this You are only checking handlebar position now Note Ifyou wanta lower stem position the stanchion tubes will probably extend above the top of the uppertiple clamp Make sure this is what you want before making any alterations to the steerer tube Ifyou would preferto have the top of the stanchion tubesfiush with the top of the uppertriple clamp youwillneed to place enoughheadsetspacersontop ofthe headsetinorderto do so Measure the amountofexposed stanchion tube with the uppertriple clamp installed directlyon top ofthe headset Thisisthe amountofheadsetspacersyou Option 1 wilneed Installthe headsetspacersand uppertriple clamp into the desired postionand tighten seererclamp boltto 85in bs Insertthe two spring stacksand preload adjustersinto the stanchion tubesand tighten with the Chubby Wrench Tighten the remaining boltson the upperclamp to 85 65 Rotate the forkand checkforany binding orgrinding i

8. ch In b Torque Wrench with 4 6mm hexbits K2Goo orotherTeflon fortified grease Thread ocking compound Loctite Blue 242 8mm HexWrench with long extenson Intemalsnap ing pliers Lubrication Sliders and Stanchions Lubrication ofthe sidersand stanchion tubesisa smple procedure that should be done every month during normal riding conditions Thiswill allow the two forktubesto move smoothly and willreduce friction between the sanchion and siders 1 Cleanoffalldirtand grime from forkand remove frontwheel 2 Disconnectfrontbrake cable from brake lever Thiswillallow you to leave the brakeson while removing siders 3 Remove 4mmhexboltslocated on bottom offorklegs You may experience difficulty when doing this Note If you have trouble removing the bottom slider bolts increase the preload on the spring stack and try again If this doesn t work remove the spring stack and the x shaped spacer and insert an 8 mm wrench with a long extension into the spring seat to preventthe spring seatfrom rotating See Chubby diagram on page___ forpartexplanations Push rubberfork bootiesup off of diders Separate sidersfrom sanchiontubeswith downward tug Cleanthe outsde ofthe stanchion tubesand the inside of the siderswith clean rag Applythin layerof grease to stanchion tubesand to the insde of the wipersealon the siders Push siderup onto stanchionsand reinstall lowersiderbolts Torque to 80 in Ibs Elastomer Stack and inner Stanchion T

11. ghtened to the proper torque when servicing your fork Failure to torque all bolts properly can resultin failure during use and severe injury WARNING Make sure preload adjusteris installed fully Failure to do so could lead to fork bottoming outand serious injury Preload Preload is the amount of load placed on a spring to increase the spring rate in the initial part of the travel All of our Chubby forks feature adjustable preload Preload is used to help achieve the properamount of suspension sag foryour bike or fork Suspension sag isthe amounta shock compresses underthe weightofthe rider All suspension systems should exhibit some amount of suspenson sag Noleen forksshould allbe setup properly witha certain amountofsag The optimum sag amountforallof our front suspension systems is 20 of the total wheel travel Forexample Our Chubby LThas 125mm 5 of travel To calculate the optimum sag for this fork multiply 125mm by 2 The answer gives youa suggested sag which forthe Chubby is 25mm 1in Optimum suspension sag Chubby 20mm Chubby LT 25mm To measure the amountofsag 1 Before you begin measuring Ithelpsto compressthe forka few timesto overcome any initial friction there may be inthe shock Thiswillhelp in obtaining anaccurate measurement Measure the distance between a point on the lower leg of the fork bottom edge of the fork boot for example and a pointon the upper part of the fork The bottom of the lower tiple cr

15. rom the fork 1 Loosenthe three boltson the uppertriple clamp 2 Usngthe ChubbyWrench preload adjusterremovaltoo bosen and remove the preload adjusersand spring Sack 2 Side the uppertriple clamp offofthe top of the fork Step 2 Check the Critical Measurement for the Chubby Chubby LT CAUTION The lower triple clamp on the Chubby and Chubby LTmust remain a certain distance above the front tire The Chubby needs this amount of room allow the suspension to compress fully without the tire striking the lower triple clamp Improper fork installation could result in a loss of control and severe injury As stated in the caution above the Chubby needs this amount of room allow the suspension to compress fully without the tire striking the lowertriple clamp Thismeasurementisdifferentforthe two Chubby forks Thismeasurement DOESNO Tchange forthe different szesof each fork model Thismeasurementshould be taken from the middle ofthe dropout orthe middle ofthe fronthub axle to the bottom ofthe lowertriple clamp We call this measurementthe Critical Measurement See below forthe Critical Measurementfor the Chubby and Chubby LTforks Dim A Chubby both Standard and Long sizes 442mm Chubby LT both Standard and Long sizes 467mm Follow these instructions to set the Critical Measurement on your Chubby or Chubby LT 1 Using a tape measure orruler measure the distance from the center of the fork dropoutto the bottom of
16. the lowertiple clamp Check this measurementagainstthe Critical Measurement above Loosen the two bolts on the lowertriple clamp and slide the tiple clamp up or down so that both sides are set to the Critical Measurement Torque all of the lowertriple clamp bolts to 85 in Ibs Headtube Headset Measurement Dim B Proper Steerer Tube Installation Crown Installation Le Install steerer and fork Proper Cable Routing NOTE ARter you set the Critical Measurement you will be left with a certain amount of room between the triple clamps for your bike s headtube and the headset You will need to know the headtube length and the headsetstack heightto find this measurement This is VERY IMPORTANT The maximum amount of room between the triple clamps for our Chubby and Chubby LTforks are Dim B Standard Size long Size Example Headtube Length 125mm Chubby Chubby LT 156mm 191mm HeadsetStackHeight _27mm Total Height 152mm Inthe example above thiscombination willfita Chubby orChubby LTStandard sze fork Step 3 Install the crown race seat and steerer tube 1 Make sure thatthe crownrace foryourthreadlessheadsetwilfit onto the crown race seatonthe Chubby steerer tube The crownrace should have aninsde diameterof 30 0mm 1 1 8 Sandard The crown race should be sightly smalerthan the crownrace at thata pressfitisrequired to setthe race firmly onto the fork
