1. Zoom DV Deck Only This function allows you to zoom in on a portion of the screen during playback 1 Press T to zoom in on an image during playback Press W to zoom out MOVE SCREEN After zooming in use AV lt gt to move the screen up down left or right STOP ZOOM To leave the zoom view and return to the normal screen press W Another method is to press STOP and then press PLAY 2 ZOOM DURING PLAYBACK ADVANCED OPERATIONS cont Playback Effects DV Deck Only This function allows you to temporarily insert playback effects on the screen during playback Because these effects are not recorded on the tape you will only see the original image when you play back the tape next time ACTIVATE PLAYBACK EFFECT Press EFFECT repeatedly within two seconds to select the desired playback effect refer to the chart below 1 STO P PLAYBACK EFFECT Press ON OFF to turn off the playback effect Pressing ON OFF again causes the selected playback effect to re appear MENU ICON EFFECT Select when you do not want to use any playback effects Select when you want to add a movie like effect to the playback by omitting frames Select when you want the playback to be in black amp white Select when you want to add a sepia tone to the playback so that it resembles an old photograph B MO NOTONE

Press MENU to return to the normal screen CD Tape Position Indicator VHS Deck The tape position indicator appears on screen when from the Stop mode you press FF REW or perform an Index Search The position of E in relation to 0 beginning or end shows you where you are 1 23 45 on the tape REMAIN 2 35 O S D F pg 52 must be set to ON or the indicator will not appear NOTE Depending on the type of tape used there may be times when the indication is not correct 0 Beginning Time Code DV Deck During recording a time code is recorded on the tape This time code Is used to confirm the position on the tape when playing or editing a tape To perform Random Assemble Editing lt pg 36 time code is necessary Seconds Minutes H ours NOTES The presence of a blank unrecorded portion in the middle of a tape can result in misoperation A blank portion of a tape is a section where nothing is recorded on the tape If you start making a recording in a blank portion of a tape the time codes will start from 0 00 00 again If identical time codes are recorded in two different places on a tape Random Assemble Editing and other similar functions might not operate properly In the following circumstances you should play the tape and confirm where a scene ends and then begin recording from there e When starting to record in th

13. appears blinking on the recorder s display panel NOTES When watching a tape recorded with B E S T setto ON it is recommended that you leave B E S T on during playback as well e When watching a rental tape or one recorded on another video recorder or when using this recorder as the player for editing set B E S T to your preference by performing steps 1 through 5 on page 24 BEST only appears at the beginning of automatic tracking Even though it doesn t appear after that the B E S T function is operative 26 Playback Picture Adjustment Qe amp QOS D ODDA joey SPP J aoe MENU FApo oa Ve I Manual Tracking VHS Deck Only Your video recorder is equipped with automatic tracking control For most tapes this will automatically adjust the tracking to suit the particular tape you are playing In some circumstances it may be necessary to make manual tracking adjustments This is usually only associated with old or worn tapes or recordings made on old or worn recorders If the automatic tracking control fails to operate correctly you will see noise bars across the picture as shown on the left below To correct this you can override the automatic control and adjust the tracking manually by pressing the TV PRO G buttons 1 O VERRIDE AUTO MATIC TRACKIN G Press 447 on the remote to engage manual tracking ADJUST TRACKING MANUALLY Press TV PROG
