1.    UNPACKING YOUR PERSONAL ALARM  Before attempting to use your Personal Key  Chain Alarm  remove the insulation tape between  the alarm housing and the battery compartment     The GE Personal Key Chain Alarm requires    4  LR44 batteries  included   Test the batteries  by pressing the pushbutton on the left side of  the unit  Replace the batteries once the red  light does not illuminate  Average battery life  for typical usage is 6 months     1  Access the battery compartment by removing  the three screws on the back of the unit and  separating the front and  back halves     2  Insert  4  LR44 button  batteries noting polarity     3  Replace halves and secure  with screws                    WARNING    Limitations of Alarm Products   This product should be tested weekly to make  sure itis working properly  The product  if used  properly  may reduce the risk of burglary   robbery  fire  or other adverse events  However   GE HEP is not an insurer  this product is neither  insurance nor a guarantee that such an event  will be prevented  and users should protect  themselves with proper insurance  GE HEP  makes no representation that this product  cannot be compromised or circumvented    that it will provide an adequate warning    or that it will prevent any personal injuries   property damage  or other losses  Like any  alarm product  including expensive commercial  systems  it may be bypassed  it is subject to  compromise  and it may fail to warn for a variety  of reasons  inclu
2. ding  but not limited to     4    D          IMPORTANT  Remove batteries before storing  the Alarm for extended periods  Batteries corrode  over time and may cause permanent damage to  the unit  Different types of batteries or new and  used batteries should not be mixed  Depleted  batteries should be removed from the unit and  disposed of properly     OPERATION OF ALARM  see figure on page 3    1  To activate siren  hold alarm in one hand and  pull on cord with the other  pulling metal  pin out of alarm body    2  To stop the siren  insert the metal pin back  into the alarm body     OPERATION OF LIGHT  1  Press and hold pushbutton on left side of unit   Red light will illuminate     DO NOT USE IN WET LOCATIONS     improper installation or positioning  improper  maintenance  tampering  dead or improperly  installed batteries  sensing limitations   component failures  smoke may not reach  detectors  for wireless systems  the functional  range may be adversely affected by certain  environmental conditions  radio frequency  interference and obstructions between the  transmitters and receivers  for systems using  telephone lines  the lines may be out of service  or disrupted  for infrared products  intrusions  may be outside of a product s designed range  and certain environmental conditions may  impact performance and audible alarm signals  may be outside of hearing range  muted by  doors  walls  and floors  unheard by deep  sleepers or the hearing impaired  or  overwhelmed by ot
