11. he DisplayLink software offers additional features for configuring monitors attached to the port replicator for computers running Windows Vista and Windows XP e Screen Resolution Changes the resolution of the external monitor e Color quality Changes the color depth of the external monitor to 16 or 32 bit e Screen rotation Rotates the display of the external monitor 90 180 or 270 degrees e Off Turns the external monitor off e Advanced Opens the Windows properties box For computers running Windows 7 and Windows Vista the following option is also available e Optimize for Video Improves the video playback experience on the display attached to the port replicator Standby Sleep Hibernation shutdown and restart If the computer connected to the port replicator initiates Standby Windows XP or the Sleep state Windows Vista and Windows 7 or Hibernation the monitor turns off When the computer exits Standby Sleep or Hibernation the connected monitor returns to the previous monitor settings If the computer is restarted or shut down and then turned back on the connected monitor returns to the previous monitor settings Chapter 1 Getting started 2 Using the port replicator Port replicator guidelines e Operating systems For optimal performance use the port replicator with HP or Compaq computers running the Windows 7 Windows Vista or Windows XP operating systems e Power To use port replicator feature

14. ne jack on the computer is disabled Either use the microphone connected to the port replicator or disconnect it A connected home entertainment system does not have audio Audio is not connected properly Be sure that the port replicator is properly connected to the home entertainment system Solving common problems 17 Video problems Problem The screen resolution of an external monitor connected to the DisplayPort cannot be changed Possible cause Solution The monitor attached to the DisplayPort Use a single link monitor may be a dual link monitor Fonts and other characters on the external monitor appear large The external monitor screen resolution is higher than the maximum limits of 1600 x 1200 or 1680 x 1050 Set the screen resolution equal to or lower than the maximum limits The graphics application does not detect the external monitor Some graphics applications do not detect external monitors connected to the port replicator Use the DisplayLink software to configure the external monitor Refer to Using the software on page 7 The external monitor cannot be set as the primary monitor when using some Intel graphics applications The computer monitor does not work Older Intel graphics applications do not support setting the external monitor as the primary monitor The external monitor has been disconnected from the port replicator before the port replicator w
