2. eft and right edges of the memory module until the retention clips snap into place CAUTION To prevent damage to the memory module do not bend the memory module 11 Align the tabs 1 on the memory module compartment cover with the notches on the computer 12 Close the cover 2 4 13 Tighten the memorv module compartment cover screws 3 14 Replace the batterv 15 Reconnect external power and external devices 16 Turnon the computer Chapter 1 Replacing the memory module ENWW 2 ENWW Effect of increasing memorv on the hibernation file When hibernation is initiated the operating svstem saves vour information to a hibernation file on the hard drive and then turns off the computer The operating svstem reserves space on the hard drive to store the hibernation file based on the amount of system memory When you increase the system memory the operating system increases the hard drive space reserved for the hibernation file If you experience problems with hibernation after increasing memory be sure that the amount of free space on the hard drive is larger than the space required by the hibernation file To display the amount of free space on the hard drive 1 Select Start gt My Computer 2 Right click the primary hard drive listing and then click Properties To display the amount of space required by the hibernation file A Select Start gt Control Panel gt Performance and Maintenance gt Po
3. mputer on by pressing the power button Then shut down the computer through the operating system Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer Unplug the power cord from the AC outlet Turn the computer upside down on a flat surface Remove the battery from the computer Loosen the memory module compartment cover screws 1 2 8 9 Lift the memory module compartment cover 2 away from the computer Remove the memory module a Pull away the retention clips 1 on each side of the memory module The memory module tilts up CAUTION To prevent damage to the memory module hold the memory module by the edges only Do not touch the components on the memory module b Grasp the edge of the memory module 2 and gently pull the module out of the memory module slot To protect a memory module after removal place it in an electrostatic safe container Chapter 1 Replacing the memory module ENWW ENWW 10 Inserta new memorv module a Align the notched edge 1 of the memory module with the tab in the memory module slot CAUTION Toprevent damage to the memorv module hold the memorv module bv the edges only Do not touch the components on the memory module b With the memory module at a 45 degree angle from the surface of the memory module compartment press the module 2 into the memory module slot until it is seated c Gentivpress the memory module 3 down applying pressure to both the l
