Never fill chip pans more than one third full with oil or fat Never leave oil or fat unattended during the heating or cooling period Never heat fat or fry with a lid on the pan Always dry food thoroughly before frying and lower it slowly into the hot oil or fat Frozen foods in particular will cause frothing and spitting if added too quickly Always keep the outside of the pan clean and free from streaks of oil or fat HOW TO DEAL WITH A FAT FIRE Do not move the pan Turn off the hotplate burners Smother the flames with a fire blanket or damp cloth to extinguish the fire Do not use water or a fire extinguisher as the force of it may spread the burning fat or oil over the edge of the pan Leave the pan for at least 60 minutes before moving it GRILL CAUTION ACCESSIBLE PARTS MAY BECOME HOT WHEN THE GRILL IS IN USE YOUNG CHILDREN SHOULD BE KEPT AWAY GRILLING SHOULD NEVER BE UNDERTAKEN WITH THE GRILL DOOR CLOSED The grill control is designed to provide variable heat control of either the full width of the grill or just the left half Turning the control knob clockwise will switch on the full width and turning anti clockwise will switch on just the left half A gentle flow of air will be blown from underneath the control panel when the grill or ovens are in use GRILL PAN HANDLE The grill pan handle is detachable from the pan to facilitate cleaning The handle can be either detachable from or fixed t

5. the temperature Each shelf has a safety stop to prevent it from being pulled out too far when attending to food Shelves are removed by pulling them out to the stop and then lifting at the front to withdraw Never withdraw loaded shelves beyond their safety stop position The oven cooking charts are a guide only giving approximate cooking temperatures and times To suit personal taste and requirements it may be necessary to increase or decrease temperatures by 10 C A gentle flow of air will be blown from underneath the control panel when the ovens or grill are in use TOP OVEN CONVENTIONAL COOKING The top oven can be used to cook small quantities of food or used in conjunction with the main oven to provide additional cooking space TO USE THE TOP OVEN 1 Place oven shelf in chosen position refer to cooking chart 2 Turn the top oven control knob clockwise to the required setting The top oven thermostat light will go off when the oven has reached the set temperature Food should be placed in the centre of the shelf with a gap of at least 25mm 1 inch between it and the grill element to avoid burning and ensuring an even cooking Do not place food or dishes on the floor of the oven MAIN OVEN FAN COOKING Fan cooking is ideal for large poultry or joints of meat reducing cooking times and often eliminating the need for preheating the oven It is also ideal for batch cooking where food is cooked on more than one level because the fo

7. tone will be heard and the Bell symbol will disappear Step 4 To cancel the audible tone press the button To cancel the minute minder period press the button until 0 00 is displayed in the window then press the button If at any time the display shows flashing zero s it is likely that the electricity supply has been interrupted Reset the timer to the correct time of day Note The Timer display will show the minute minder period as follows Any period up to 99 minutes and 50 seconds The display shows MINUTES and SECONDS 10s intervals eg 19 minutes 50 seconds Any period between 100 minutes 1 hour 40 minutes and up to 10 hours The display shows HOURS and MINUTES eg 1 hour 41 minutes 13 HOTPLATE The hotplate lid is fitted with a safety device which cuts off the gas supply to the hotplate burners unless the lid is fully open Do not use the safety device as a means of controlling the hotplate burners The hotplate has two high speed burners and two simmering burners which will accommodate pans between 100mm 4 and 230mm 9 diameter All pans should be positioned centrally over the burners TO USE THE HOTPLATE 1 Remove any items or spillage from the top of the lid and then raise it to its fully open position 2 Press the ignition button and then push in and turn the control knob of the chosen burner anti clockwise to the large flame symbol Continue to press the ignition b

TABILITY BRACKET The back of the cooker has a slot for engagement of a stability bracket which can be obtained as an extra from your cooker supplier CONNECTING TO GAS SUPPLY The cooker is designed to match the depth of standard 600mm worktops An adaptor backplate should therefore be fitted within the shaded area shown to allow the cooker to be pushed fully to the wall REAR OF COOKER GAS BACKPLATE POSITION STABILITY BRACKET POSITION SLOT FOR STABILITY BRACKET Connection to the cooker should be made with an approved appliance flexible connection to BS 669 Hoses connected to LPG should be suitable for LPG and capable of withstanding 50mbar pressure A length of 0 9 to 1 25m is recommended The length of hose chosen should be such that when the cooker is in situ the hose does not touch the floor The temperature rise of areas at the rear of the cooker that are likely to come in contact with the flexible hose do not exceed 70 C 29 ELECTRICAL INSTALLATION WARNING THIS APPLIANCE MUST BE EARTHED The cooker must be connected by a qualified electrician to a suitable double pole control unit with a minimum rating of 32A and a minimum contact clearance of 3mm which should be fitted adjacent to but not above the cooker in accordance with IEE regulations The power supply cable should conform to BS6004 with a conductor size of Amm2 The control unit should be easily accessible in the event of an emergency This app

15. buroo uaAQ ue Buroo uaAQ do ueg temperatures recommended by the Note If soft margarine is used for cake making manufacturers should be followed Temperatures recommended in this chart refer to cakes made with block margarine only 19 THE SLOW COOKING S SETTING The S setting on the main oven thermostat can be used for slow cooking PREPARING FOOD FOR SLOW COOKING 1 10 11 12 13 14 20 All dishes cooked by the S setting should be cooked for a minimum 6 hours They will hold at this setting for a further hour but marked deterioration in appearance will be noticed in some cases Joints of meat and poultry should be cooked at 170 for 30 minutes before turning to the S setting and never be cooked lower than the middle shelf position Joints of meat over 6 Ibs 2 7kg and poultry over 4 Ibs 8oz 2 kg should not be cooked using the S setting Always stand covered joints on a rack over the meat tin to allow good air circulation A meat thermometer should be used when cooking pork joints and poultry The internal temperature of the food should reach at least 88 C This method is unsuitable for stuffed meat and stuffed poultry Always bring soups casseroles and liquids to the boil before putting in the oven Cover casseroles with foil and then the lid to prevent loss of moisture Always thaw frozen food completely before cooking Root vegetables will cook be

19. ke care to support the weight of the inner glass when removing and refitting DROP DOWN DOORS Remove the door inner glass as follows 1 Open the door fully and unscrew the two screws securing the glass panel so that the securing brackets can be turned There is no need to remove the screws completely Fig 1 77 J 3 The inside of the outer door glass can now be cleaned while still fitted to the cooker NEVER OPERATE THE COOKER WITHOUT THE INNER DOOR GLASS IN POSITION Refit the door inner glass as follows 2 Turn the brackets so that the glass can be removed and cleaned at the sink Fig 1 Glass 1 NOTE The inner door glass has a special reflective coating on one side Replace the door inner glass so that the statement IMPORTANT THIS FACE TOWARDS THE OVEN can be read from the inner side of the door 2 Turn the two securing brackets back to their original position to retain the glass and tighten the screws Fig 2 o Z Fig 2 Glass SOMETHING WRONG WITH YOUR COOKER Before contacting your Service Centre or Installer check the problem guide below there may be nothing wrong with your cooker PROBLEM CHECK Ignition does not work Hotplate burner Burner ports Ignitor 24 If all burners fail to ignite Check that sparks appear at the burners a clicking noise should be heard If not Check that the electricity supply is turned on If the electricity su

21. o the pan Remove the screw and washer from the grill pan bracket tilt the handle over the recess adjacent to the bracket A Slide the handle toward the centre of the pan B and let the handle locate over the bracket C For a detachable handle Remove the screw and washer from the grill pan and keep safe For a fixed handle Replace the screw and washer and ensure they are fully tightened Warning Ensure when using grill pan handle in the detachable manner it is centralised and secure 9 USE THE GRILL Open the grill top oven door and place the shelf in the required position 2 Turn the grill control knob clockwise to 4 for full width grilling or anticlockwise for the half grill Slide the grill pan toward the back of the grill compartment until it stops Leave the control at 4 for toast and for sealing and fast cooking of foods For thicker foods requiring longer cooking turn the control to a lower setting after sealing on both sides at 4 PUW NOTE The grill will not operate unless the top oven control is in the OFF position Grilling can be started from cold but for best results preheat for approximately 2 minutes DO NOT cover the grill pan or grid with aluminium foil as this can hold fat intensify the heat and cause a fire hazard 16 OVENS Both ovens have a thermostat light that will illuminate until the oven has reached the set temperature It will then switch off and on during cooking as the thermostat maintains

25. r AUTOMATIC COOKING The main oven can be controlled automatically ES ON AUTOMATIC COOKING 4 10 11 12 Select foods which will take the same time to cook Set the oven timer so that the food has just finished or is just about to finish cooking on your return to the oven This will ensure the food has not cooled down and does not require reheating before serving Food should be as cold as possible when it goes into the oven ideally straight from the refrigerator Frozen meat and poultry should be thawed thoroughly before it is put in the oven Warm food should never be placed in the oven if there is to be a delay period Stews prepared by frying the meat and vegetables should be cooked as soon as possible Dishes containing left over cooked poultry or meat for example Shepherds Pie should not be cooked automatically if there is to be a delay period Stews and joints should be cooked by the long slow method so that the delay period is kept to a minimum On warm days to prevent harmful bacterial growth in certain foods ie poultry joints etc the delayed start should be kept to a minimum Wine or beer may ferment and cream may curdle during the delay period so it is best to add these ingredients just before serving Foods which discolour should be protected by coating in fat or tossing in water to which lemon juice has been added prior to placing food in the oven Dishes containing liquid should not be filled too full
