1. Never leave the treadmill unattended while it is running Always remove the key unplug the power cord and switch the reset off cir cuit breaker to the off position when the treadmill is not in use See the drawing on page 5 for the location of the reset off circuit breaker Do not attempt to raise lower or move the treadmill until it is properly assembled See ASSEMBLY on page 6 and HOW TO FOLD AND MOVE THE TREADMILL on page 23 You must be able to safely lift 45 Ibs 20 kg to raise lower or move the treadmill Do not change the incline of the treadmill by placing objects under the treadmill 23 When folding or moving the treadmill make sure that the storage latch is holding the frame securely in the storage position 24 Inspect and properly tighten all parts of the treadmill regularly 25 Never insert or drop any object into any Opening on the treadmill 2 DANGER Always unplug the power cord immediately after use before cleaning the treadmill and before performing the main tenance and adjustment procedures de scribed in this manual Never remove the motor hood unless instructed to do so by an authorized service representative Servicing other than the procedures in this manual should be performed by an authorized service representative only 27 The treadmill is intended for in home use only Do not use the treadmill in any commer cial rental or institutional setting 28 Over exercising
2. press the Start but ton or the Speed increase button The walking belt will begin to move at 1 mph When the next seg ment of the workout begins the treadmill will auto matically adjust to the speed and incline settings for the next segment Follow your progress with the displays See step 5 on pages 16 and 17 Measure your heart rate if desired See step 6 on page 17 Turn on the fan if desired See step 7 on page 17 When you are finished exercising remove the key from the console See step 8 on page 17 HOW TO CREATE A CUSTOM WORKOUT 1 Insert the key into the console See HOW TO TURN ON THE POWER on page 15 Select one of the custom workouts To select a cus tom workout press the Custom Workouts button repeatedly until the desired workout appears in the center display SPEED di DISTANCE 1 000 CALORIES INCLINE Note If the custom workout has not yet been defined only three columns of indicators will appear in the center display If more than three columns of indicators appear see HOW TO USE A CUSTOM WORKOUT on page 20 Start the walking belt and program the desired speed and incline settings Press the Start button or the Speed increase but ton to start the workout A moment after you press the button the treadmill will automatically adjust to the first speed and incline settings for the workout Hold the handrails and begin walking Each custom workout is divid

HOW TO TURN ON THE POWER at the left Select the manual mode When the key is inserted the manual mode will be selected If a workout has been selected reselect the manual mode by removing the key and then reinserting it Start the walking belt To start the walking belt press the Start button the Speed increase button or one of the One Touch Speed buttons numbered 1 through 12 If you press the Start but ton or the Speed in crease button the walk ing belt will begin to a move at 1 mph As you PULSE DISTANCE SPEED exercise change the speed of the walking belt as desired by pressing the Speed increase and de crease buttons Each time you press one of the buttons the speed setting will change by 0 1 mph if you hold down the button the speed setting will change in increments of 0 5 mph Note After you press the buttons it may take a moment for the walking belt to reach the selected speed setting If you press one of the One Touch Speed buttons the walking belt will gradually change speed until it reaches the selected speed setting To stop the walking belt press the Stop button The word PAUSED will appear in the display To restart the walking belt press the Start button the Speed increase button or one of the One Touch Speed buttons Change the incline of the treadmill as desired To change the incline of the treadmill press the Incline increase and de crease buttons or one of the One

6. obtain a reputable book or consult your physician Remember proper nutrition and adequate rest are essential for successful results EXERCISE INTENSITY Whether your goal is to burn fat or to strengthen your cardiovascular system exercising at the proper inten sity is the key to achieving results You can use your heart rate as a guide to find the proper intensity level The chart below shows recommended heart rates for fat burning and aerobic exercise 165 155 145 145 138 130 125 120 115 125 115 110 103 Y 95 90 vw 20 30 40 70 80 To find the proper intensity level find your age at the bottom of the chart ages are rounded off to the near est ten years The three numbers listed above your age define your training zone The lowest number is the heart rate for fat burning the middle number is the heart rate for maximum fat burning and the highest number is the heart rate for aerobic exercise Burning Fat To burn fat effectively you must exer cise at a low intensity level for a sustained period of time During the first few minutes of exercise your body uses carbohydrate calories for energy Only after the first few minutes of exercise does your body begin to use stored fat calories for energy your goal is to burn fat adjust the intensity of your exercise until your heart rate is near the lowest number in your training zone For maximum fat burning exercise with your heart rate near the middle num
7. sure that all parts are properly tightened before you use the treadmill Keep the included hex keys in a secure place One of the hex keys is used to adjust the walking belt see pages 26 and 27 To protect the floor or carpet from damage place a mat under the treadmill 12 OPERATION AND ADJUSTMENT THE PRE LUBRICATED WALKING BELT Your treadmill features a walking belt coated with high performance lubricant IMPORTANT Never apply sil icone spray or other substances to the walking belt or the walking platform Such substances will deteriorate the walking belt and cause excessive wear HOW TO PLUG IN THE POWER CORD A DANGER Improper connection of the equipment grounding conductor can result in an increased risk of electric shock Check with a qualified electrician or service man if you are in doubt as to whether the product is properly grounded Do not modify the plug provided with the product if it will not fit the outlet have a proper outlet installed by a qualified electrician Your treadmill like any other type of sophisticated electronic equipment can be seriously damaged by sudden voltage changes in your home s power Voltage surges spikes and noise interference can result from weather conditions or from other appliances being turned on or off To decrease the possibility of your treadmill being damaged always use a surge suppressor with your treadmill see drawing 1 at the right To purchase a surge suppres
8. the audio jack near the speakers Then plug the other end of the audio wire into a jack on your MP3 player CD player or other personal audio player Make sure that the audio wire is fully plugged in Next press the Play button on your MP3 player CD player or other personal audio player Adjust the vol ume on your personal audio player or press the Volume increase and decrease buttons on the con sole If you are using a personal CD player and the CD skips set the CD player on the floor or another flat sur face and not on the console 22 HOW TO FOLD AND MOVE THE TREADMILL HOW TO FOLD THE TREADMILL FOR STORAGE Before folding the treadmill adjust the incline to the lowest position If you do not do this the treadmill may be permanently damaged Remove the key and unplug the power cord CAUTION You must be able to safely lift 45 Ibs 20 kg to raise lower or move the treadmill 1 Hold the metal frame firmly in the location shown by the arrow at the right CAUTION To decrease the pos sibility of injury do not lift the treadmill by the plastic foot rails Make sure you bend your legs and keep your back straight As you raise the frame make sure to lift with your legs rather than your back Raise the frame about halfway to the vertical position 2 Raise the frame until the latch knob locks into the storage position Make sure that the latch knob is locked in the storage position To protect the floor or carpet

T LOSS AEROBIC WORKOUTS WORKOUTS PERFORMANCE CUSTOM WORKOUTS WORKOUTS div A Workouts at Fit com ONE TOUCH INCLINE ONE TOUCH SPEED INCLINE INCLINE START SPEED SPEED AN FEATURES OF THE CONSOLE The treadmill console offers an impressive array of features designed to help you get the most from your workouts When the manual mode of the console is se lected the speed and incline of the treadmill can be changed with the touch of a button As you exercise the console will display continuous exercise feedback You can even measure your heart rate using the built in handgrip pulse sensor In addition the console features twelve preset work outs five weight loss workouts four aerobic workouts and three performance workouts Each workout auto matically controls the speed and incline of the treadmill as it guides you through an effective exercise session You can even create your own custom workouts and save them in memory for future use The console also features the new iFit interactive work out system The iFit system enables the console to ac cept iFit interactive workout cards containing workouts designed to help you achieve specific fitness goals For example lose unwanted pounds with the 8 week Weight Loss workout or train for a long distance run with the Marathon workout iFit wo

Touch Incline buttons If you press the Incline increase or de crease button the incline will change by 0 5 per cent If you press one of the One Touch Incline buttons the incline will gradually change until it reaches the selected incline setting INCLINE TIME CALORIES Follow your progress with the displays The center display When the manual mode is selected the center display offers three display modes The display mode that you select will de termine which workout information is shown Press the Graphical Display button repeatedly to select the desired display mode As you walk or run on the PEED treadmill the 5 display can show the follow ing workout in formation CALS 20 7 The speed of the walking belt Your walking or running pace in minutes per mile or minutes per kilometer The approximate number of calories you have burned The elapsed time The distance that you have walked or run The number of laps you have completed There are four laps in a mile The incline setting of the treadmill whenever the incline setting changes Your heart rate Note Your heart rate can be displayed only while you use the handgrip pulse sensor e An animation of a road Regardless of which display mode you select the speed or incline setting will appear in the display for a few seconds each time you change the setting The left display As you exercise the
13. ase see the front cover of this manual The console displays remain lit when you remove the key from the console a The console features a display demo mode designed to be used if the treadmill is displayed in a store If the displays remain lit wnen you remove the key the demo mode is turned on To turn off the demo mode hold down the Stop button for a few seconds If the displays are still lit see THE INFORMATION MODE on page 22 to turn off the demo mode The displays of the console do not function properly a Remove the key from the console and UNPLUG THE POWER CORD Next carefully lower the Uprights 111 112 Then remove the two indicated 8 x 3 4 Screws 1 Note A Phillips screwdriver with a shaft at least 8 in 20 cm long is needed 25 PROBLEM SOLUTION PROBLEM SOLUTION Raise the Uprights 111 112 to the vertical position Remove the three 8 x 3 4 Screws 1 from the Motor Hood 63 and carefully pivot the Motor Hood off Locate the Reed Switch 65 and the Magnet 49 on the left side of the Pulley 51 Turn the Pulley until the Magnet is aligned with the Reed Switch Make sure that the gap between the Magnet and the Reed Switch is about 1 8 in 3 mm If necessary move the Reed Switch slightly using a slotted screwdriver Reattach the Motor Hood not shown making sure that the five 8 x 3 4 Screws not shown are inserted into the same holes from which they were removed Run the trea
14. at the power cord is unplugged With the help of a second person carefully tip the treadmill onto its left side Partially fold the Frame 54 so that the treadmill is more stable Do not fully fold the Frame until the treadmill is completely assembled Attach two Base Pads 88 to the Base 85 in the locations shown with two 8 x 1 Tek Screws 8 and two Base Pad Spacers 87 Then attach the other two Base Pads 88 to the Base with two 8 x 1 Tek Screws 8 Do not overtighten the Tek Screws 2 Attach a Wheel 92 to the Base 85 with a 3 8 x 2 1 4 Bolt 6 and a 3 8 Nut 5 Do not over tighten the Nut the Wheel must turn freely 3 Identify the Right Upright 112 which is marked with a Right sticker Have a second person hold the Right Upright near the Base 85 as shown See the inset drawing Tie the wire tie in the Right Upright 112 securely around the end of the Upright Wire 79 Then pull the other end of the wire tie until the Upright Wire is routed completely through the Right Upright Have a second person hold the Right Upright 112 against the Base 85 with the Right Upright positioned as shown Be careful not to pinch the Upright Wire 79 Attach the Right Upright 112 to the Base 85 with two 3 8 x 2 1 2 Bolts 10 and two 3 8 Star Washers 9 Note If the Bolt A hits the 8 x 3 4 Screw 1 attaching the Base Cap 86 loos
15. ber in your training zone Aerobic Exercise If your goal is to strengthen your cardiovascular system you must perform aerobic exer cise which is activity that requires large amounts of oxygen for prolonged periods of time For aerobic ex ercise adjust the intensity of your exercise until your heart rate is near the highest number in your training zone WORKOUT GUIDELINES Warming Up Start with 5 to 10 minutes of stretching and light exercise A warm up increases your body temperature heart rate and circulation in preparation for exercise Training Zone Exercise Exercise for 20 to 30 min utes with your heart rate in your training zone During the first few weeks of your exercise program do not keep your heart rate in your training zone for longer than 20 minutes Breathe regularly and deeply as you exercise never hold your breath Cooling Down Finish with 5 to 10 minutes of stretch ing Stretching increases the flexibility of your muscles and helps to prevent post exercise problems EXERCISE FREQUENCY To maintain or improve your condition complete three workouts each week with at least one day of rest be tween workouts After a few months of regular exer cise you may complete up to five workouts each week if desired Remember the key to success is to make exercise a regular and enjoyable part of your everyday life 28 SUGGESTED STRETCHES The correct form for several basic stretches is shown at th
16. button or the Speed increase button The walking belt will begin to move When the next segment of the workout begins the treadmill will automatically ad just to the speed and incline settings for the next segment Follow your progress with the displays See step 5 on pages 16 and 17 Measure your heart rate if desired See step 6 on page 17 Turn on the fan if desired See step 7 on page 17 When you are finished exercising remove the key from the console See step 8 on page 17 CAUTION Always remove iFit cards from the iFit slot when you are not using them THE INFORMATION MODE The console features an information mode that keeps track of the total number of miles or kilometers that the walking belt has moved and the total number of hours that the treadmill has been operated The information mode allows you to choose an audio setting for your iFit workouts You can also select miles or kilometers as the unit of measurement and turn on and turn off the display demo mode To select the information mode hold down the Stop button while inserting the key into the console and then release the Stop button When the information mode is selected the following information will be shown You can select an audio setting if de sired When you use an iFit card a personal trainer will guide you through your workouts If you select the ON setting next to IN STRUCTION the personal trainer will give you de tailed instructio
17. dicate the approximate intensity level of your exer cise For example if five of the indicators in the meter are lit you are exercising at a medium inten sity level WORKOUT INTENSITY MEDIUM ES 1 To reset the displays press the Stop button re move the key and then reinsert the key Measure your heart rate if desired Before using the handgrip pulse sensor remove the sheets of clear plastic from the metal contacts In addition make sure that your hands are clean Contacts 17 To measure your heart rate stand on the foot rails and hold the metal contacts avoid moving your hands When your pulse is detected one or two dashes will appear and then your heart rate will be shown In addition each time your pulse is detected a peak will appear in the line next to your heart rate For the most accurate heart rate reading continue to hold the contacts for about 15 seconds Turn on the fan if desired The fan features high low and auto speed set tings Press the Fan button repeatedly to select a fan speed or to turn off the fan When the auto mode is selected the speed of the fan will auto matically increase and decrease as the speed of the walking belt increases and decreases Note If the fan is on when the walking belt is stopped the fan will turn off automatically after a few minutes The auto mode can only be selected while the walking belt is moving When you are finished exercising r

19. dly until the desired workout appears in the center display As each custom workout is selected the maximum speed setting and maximum incline setting of the workout will flash in the displays for a few seconds The workout duration and a profile of the speed settings of the workout will appear in the center display Note If only three columns of indica tors appear in the center display see HOW TO CREATE A CUSTOM WORKOUT on page 19 Start the walking belt Press the Start button or the Speed increase but ton to start the workout A moment after you press the button the treadmill will automatically adjust to the first speed and incline settings for the workout Hold the handrails and begin walking Each custom workout is divided into several one minute segments One speed setting and one in cline setting are programmed for each segment Note The same speed setting and or incline set ting may be programmed for consecutive seg ments 20 The custom workout will function in the same way as a preset workout see step 3 on page 18 If desired you can redesign the workout while using it To change the speed setting or the in cline setting for the current segment simply press the Speed or Incline buttons When the current segment ends the new setting will be saved in mem ory To increase the length of the workout first wait until the workout is completed Then press the Start button and program speed and incline se
20. dmill for a few minutes to check for a cor rect speed reading The incline of the treadmill does not change correctly a With the key in the console press one of the Incline buttons While the incline is changing re move the key After a few seconds re insert the key The treadmill will automatically rise to the maximum incline level and then return to the minimum level This will recalibrate the incline system The walking belt slows when walked on a Use only a single outlet surge suppressor that meets all of the specifications described on page 13 b If the walking belt is overtightened treadmill perfor mance may decrease and the walking belt may be come damaged Remove the key and UNPLUG THE POWER CORD Using the hex key turn both idler roller bolts counterclockwise 1 4 of a turn When the walking belt is properly tightened you should be able to lift each edge of the walking belt 3 to 4 in 8 to 10 cm off the walking platform Be careful to keep the walking belt centered Then plug in the power cord insert the key and run the treadmill for a few minutes Repeat until the walking belt is properly tightened Idler Roller Bolts c If the walking belt still slows when walked on please see the front cover of this manual 26 PROBLEM The walking belt is off center or slips when walked on SOLUTION a If the walking belt is off center
21. e right Move slowly as you stretch never bounce 1 Toe Touch Siretch Stand with your knees bent slightly and slowly bend forward from your hips Allow your back and shoulders to relax as you reach down toward your toes as far as possible Hold for 15 counts then relax Repeat 3 times Stretches Hamstrings back of knees and back 2 Hamstring Stretch Sit with one leg extended Bring the sole of the opposite foot toward you and rest it against the inner thigh of your extended leg Reach toward your toes as far as possible Hold for 15 counts then relax Repeat 3 times for each leg Stretches Hamstrings lower back and groin 3 Calf Achilles Stretch With one leg in front of the other reach forward and place your hands against a wall Keep your back leg straight and your back foot flat on the floor Bend your front leg lean forward and move your hips toward the wall Hold for 15 counts then relax Repeat 3 times for each leg To cause further stretching of the achilles tendons bend your back leg as well Stretches Calves achilles tendons and ankles 4 Quadriceps Stretch With one hand against a wall for balance reach back and grasp one foot with your other hand Bring your heel as close to your buttocks as possible Hold for 15 counts then relax Repeat 3 times for each leg Stretches Quadriceps and hip muscles 5 Inner Thigh Stretch Sit with the soles of your feet together and your knees outward Pull your feet t
22. eadmill only as described Place the treadmill on a level surface with at least 8 ft 2 4 m of clearance behind it and 2 ft 0 6 m on each side Do not place the treadmill on any surface that blocks air open ings To protect the floor or carpet from dam age place a mat under the treadmill Keep the treadmill indoors away from mois ture and dust Do not put the treadmill in a garage or covered patio or near water Do not operate the treadmill where aerosol products are used or where oxygen is being administered Keep children under age 12 and pets away from the treadmill at all times The treadmill should be used only by per sons weighing 325 Ibs 147 kg or less Never allow more than one person on the treadmill at a time Wear appropriate exercise clothes when using the treadmill Do not wear loose clothes that could become caught in the treadmill Athletic support clothes are recom mended for both men and women Always wear athletic shoes Never use the treadmill with bare feet wearing only stockings or in sandals 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 When connecting the power cord see page 13 plug the power cord into a surge suppres sor not included and plug the surge sup pressor into a grounded circuit capable of carrying 15 or more amps No other appliance should be on the same circuit Do not use an extension cord Use only a single outlet surge suppressor that meets all of the speci

36. remove the key and UNPLUG THE POWER CORD If the walking belt has shifted to the left use the hex key to turn the left idler roller bolt clockwise 1 2 of a turn if the walk ing belt has shifted to the right turn the bolt coun terclockwise 1 2 of a turn Be careful not to over tighten the walking belt Plug in the power cord insert the key and run the treadmill for a few minutes Repeat until the walking belt is centered b If the walking belt slips when walked on first remove the key and UNPLUG THE POWER CORD Using the hex key turn both idler roller bolts clockwise 1 4 of a turn When the walking belt is correctly tightened you should be able to lift each edge of the walking belt 3 to 4 in 8 to 10 cm off the walking platform Be careful to keep the walking belt centered Then plug in the power cord insert the key and carefully walk on the treadmill for a few minutes Repeat until the walking belt is properly tightened 27 EXERCISE GUIDELINES AWARNING Before beginning any exercise program consult your physician This is especially important for persons over age 35 or persons with pre existing health problems The pulse sensor is not a medical device Various factors may affect the accuracy of heart rate readings The pulse sensor is in tended only as an exercise aid in determining heart rate trends in general These guidelines will help you to plan your exercise program For detailed exercise information
