ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS NOTE For additional information regarding the parts listed in the following pages refer to the Assembly Diagram on page 13 CAUTION Always make sure the Power Cord 13 of the Sander is unplugged from its electrical outlet prior to making any adjustments or doing servicing or adding or remov ing sanding discs ATTACHING THE DUST BAG 28 1 Slide the Dust Bag 28 onto the back of the Sander Snap it in place using firm pressure 2 The collection of the dust will only work if the sandpaper has holes _ that line up with the 8 dust collection holes in the Backing Pad 23 There are 4 other holes in the Backing Pad for the Screws 26 that attach the Backing Pad to the Sander Dust Bag 28 am acking Pad 23 SKU 93431 For technical questions please call 1 800 444 3353 Page 10 OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS NOTE For additional information regarding the parts listed in the following pages refer to the Assembly Diagram on page 13 Note CAUTION Always make sure the Power Cord 13 of the Sander is unplugged from its electrical outlet prior to making any adjustments to the tool Clamp your workpiece down or insert it in a vise Make sure the wood you are sanding does not have any nails or metal of any kind in it or you will ruin the sandpaper and damage the Backing Pad 23 After donning the appropriate safety gear covered on page 5 of this manual plug in the Sande

11. ollowing illustration See Figure A DOUBLE INSULATED TOOLS TOOLS WITH TWO PRONG PLUGS 4 Tools marked Double Insulated do not require grounding They have a special double insulation system which satisfies OSHA requirements and complies with the applicable standards of Underwriters Laboratories Inc the Canadian Standard Association and the National Electrical Code See Figure B 5 Double insulated tools may be used in either of the 120 volt outlets shown in the following illustration See Figure B Note This tool has a 2 Prong Plug FIGURE B SKU 93431 For technical questions please call 1 800 444 3353 Page 8 EXTENSION CORDS i Grounded tools require a three wire extension cord Double Insulated tools can use either a two or three wire extension cord 2 As the distance from the supply outlet increases you must use a heavier gauge extension cord Using extension cords with inadequately sized wire causes a serious drop in voltage resulting in loss of power and possible tool damage See Figure C 3 The smaller the gauge number of the wire the greater the capacity of the cord For example a 14 gauge cord can carry a higher current than a 16 gauge cord See Figure C 4 When using more than one extension cord to make up the total length make sure each cord contains at least the minimum wire size required See Figure C 5 If you are using one extension cord for more than one tool add the namepl
12. r Turn on the Sander by turning on the Switch 15 Always run the Sander for a few seconds before contacting the workpiece Contact the workpiece with minimal pressure If the Sander is not removing enough material try a grittier piece of sandpaper If you want to remove a lot of material fast use a belt sander All orbital sanders leave sanding marks on the workpiece To minimize sanding marks always try to sand with the grain of the wood Occasionally check the sandpaper for tears wear or fraying Replace if necessary When you are finished turn off the Switch 15 On Off Switch 15 W CHICAS SKU 93431 For technical questions please call 1 800 444 3353 Page 11 INSPECTION MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING 1 Z WARNING Make sure the Power Switch 15 of the Sander is in its OFF position and that the tool is unplugged from its electrical outlet before performing any inspection maintenance or cleaning procedures 2 BEFORE EACH USE inspect the general condition of the Sander Check for loose screws misalignment or binding of moving parts cracked or broken parts damaged electrical wiring and any other condition that may affect its safe operation If abnormal noise or vibration occurs have the problem corrected before further use Do not use damaged equipment Wipe the unit down after each use with a dry lint free cloth 2 Make sure the vents on the top are clear of dust and debris 3 Periodica
