3. double insulation system which satisfies OSHA requirements and complies with the applicable standards of Underwriters Laboratories Inc the Canadian Standard FA Association and the National Electrical Code Double insulated tools may be used in either of the 120 volt outlets shown in the preceding illustration Outlets for 2 Prong Plug See Outlets for 2 Prong Plug Page 8 For technical questions please call 1 888 866 5797 Item 69079 Extension Cords 1 Grounded tools require a three wire extension cord 7 Double Insulated tools can use either a two or three wire extension cord 2 As the distance from the supply outlet increases you must use a heavier gauge extension cord 8 Using extension cords with inadequately sized wire causes a serious drop in voltage resulting in loss of power and possible tool damage See Table A on page 9 3 The smaller the gauge number of the wire the greater the capacity of the cord For example a 14 gauge cord can carry a higher current than a 16 gauge cord See Table A 4 When using more than one extension cord to make up the total length make sure each cord contains at least the minimum wire size required See Table A 5 If you are using one extension cord for more than one tool add the nameplate amperes and use the sum to determine the required minimum cord size See Table A 6 If you are using an extension cord outdoors make sure it is marked with the s
4. live and shock the operator 6 When ripping always use a rip fence or straight edge guide This improves the accuracy of cut and reduces the chance of blade binding 7 Always use blades with correct size and shape diamond versus round of arbor holes Blades that do not match the mounting hardware of the saw will run eccentrically causing loss of control 8 Never use damaged or incorrect blade washers or bolt The blade washers and bolt were specially designed for your saw for optimum performance and safety of operation 9 Causes and Operator Prevention of Kickback e Kickback is a sudden reaction to a pinched bound or misaligned saw blade causing an uncontrolled saw to lift up and out of the workpiece toward the operator When the blade is pinched or bound tightly by the kerf closing down the blade stalls and the motor reaction drives the unit rapidly back toward the operator If the blade becomes twisted or misaligned in the cut the teeth at the back edge of the blade can dig into the top surface of the wood causing the blade to climb out of the kerf and jump back toward the operator e Kickback is the result of saw misuse and or incorrect operating procedures or conditions and can be avoided by taking proper precautions as given below Item 69079 10 12 For technical questions please call 1 888 866 5797 a Maintain a firm grip with both hands on the saw and position your arms to resist

If damaged have the power tool repaired before use Many accidents are caused by poorly maintained power tools Keep cutting tools sharp and clean Properly maintained cutting tools with sharp cutting edges are less likely to bind and are easier to control Use the power tool accessories and tool bits etc in accordance with these instructions taking into account the working conditions and the work to be performed Use of the power tool for operations different from those intended could result in a hazardous situation Item 69079 Circular Saw Safety Warnings 1 AXDANGER Keep hands away from cutting area and the blade Keep your second hand on auxiliary handle or motor housing f both hands are holding the saw they cannot be cut by the blade 2 Do not reach underneath the workpiece The guard cannot protect you from the blade below the workpiece 3 Adjust the cutting depth to the thickness of the workpiece Less than a full tooth of the blade teeth should be visible below the workpiece 4 Never hold piece being cut in your hands or across your leg Secure the workpiece to a stable platform t is important to support the work properly to minimize body exposure blade binding or loss of control 5 Hold power tool by insulated gripping surfaces when performing an operation where the cutting tool may contact hidden wiring or its own cord Contact with a live wire will also make exposed metal parts of the power tool

10. ase until it is the desired distance from the Blade Tighten in place with the Fence Lock Knob Dust Collector 10 11 For technical questions please call 1 888 866 5797 Connect a Dust collection system sold separately to the Dust Chute on the Stationary Guard Designate a work area that is clean and well lit The work area must not allow access by children or pets to prevent distraction and injury Route the power cord along a safe route to reach the work area without creating a tripping hazard or exposing the power cord to possible damage The power cord must reach the work area with enough extra length to allow free movement while working Secure loose workpieces using a vise or clamps not included to prevent movement while working Verify that there are no utility lines or hardware in or near the workpiece This is especially critical for plunge cuts Make straight cuts only Do not attempt to twist the Circular Saw to the right or left while cutting If this occurs the Saw Blade will bind in the workpiece causing kickback potential injury and or damage to the workpiece and Circular Saw Do not force the Circular Saw to cut faster than it is designed to cut Feed the Saw Blade gradually into the workpiece Turn off the Circular Saw if the Saw Blade is to be backed out of an uncompleted cut When turning off the Circular Saw allow the Saw Blade to fully stop on its own before removing the Circula

16. kickback forces Position your body to either side of the blade but not in line with the blade Kickback could cause the saw to jump backwards but kickback forces can be controlled by the operator if proper precautions are taken SAFETY b When blade is binding or when interrupting a cut for any reason release the trigger and hold the saw motionless in the material until the blade comes to a complete stop Never attempt to remove the saw from the work or pull the saw backward while the blade is in motion or kickback may occur Investigate and take corrective actions to eliminate the cause of blade binding c When restarting a saw in the workpiece center the saw blade in the kerf and check that saw teeth are not engaged into the material If saw blade is binding it may walk up or kickback from the workpiece as the saw is restarted d Support large panels to minimize the risk of blade pinching and kickback Large panels tend to sag under their own weight Supports must be placed under the panel on both sides near the line of cut and near the edge of the panel e Do not use dull or damaged blades Unsharpened or improperly set blades produce narrow kerf causing excessive friction blade binding and kickback f Blade depth and bevel adjusting locking levers must be tight and secure before making cut If blade adjustment shifts while cutting it may cause binding and kickback g Use extra caution when making a plung

20. pindle Lock Lever To Remove lnstall A Saw Blade sold separately 1 Lower the Base Plate to its lowest setting See Depth Adjustment following 2 Depress the Spindle Lock Lever to hold the Saw Blade in place and unscrew counterclockwise and remove the Blade Clamp Bolt and Outer Flange 3 Pull the Lower Guard all the way up into the Upper Guard Remove the old Saw Blade and install a new Saw Blade onto the Spindle 4 Slide the Outer Flange onto the Spindle with the cupped side towards the blade and wrench tighten the Blade Bolt in place on the Spindle WARNING Blade must be rated to at least 5 500 RPM Note Make sure to install the new 2 gt Saw Blade with its teeth and the arrow fe on the Saw Blade pointing in the same direction as the arrow on the Lower Guard E Depth Adjustment 1 Loosen the Depth Lever Base S 2 Hold the Base down with one hand and raise or lower the body of the Saw with the other hand until the Blade is at the desired Depth of cut using the Depth Gauge as a guide 3 Tighten in place with the Depth Lever Depth Lever Depth Gauge WARNING To reduce the risk of Serious Injury Figure 3 Lower Guard Depth of cut must be adjusted to just clear the workpiece Angle Adjustment 1 Loosen the Angle Lock Knob N 2 Adjust the Base to the desired angle between 0 and 45 using the Angle Gauge as a guide Angle Lock Knob 3 Tighten in place with the Angle Loc
