1. 3 Slowly unscrew the boiler cap note some hot steam may still escape 4 Using a water jug fill with one litre of tap water 5 Fill the boiler taking care that the water does not spill over If this occurs remove the excess water 6 Replace the boiler cap screwing on tightly reconnect your generator to the mains and switch it on 7 Wait a few minutes until the boiler heats up The generator and the iron are ready to use when both the iron s thermostat light and the steam ready indicator go out 6 MAINTAINING YOUR GENERATOR e Before cleaning ensure that the appliance is unplugged and that the soleplate and the iron rest have cooled down e Do not use any cleaning or descaling products for cleaning the soleplate or the boiler e Never hold the iron or the base unit under the tap e Do not place the iron on a metal rest as this could damage it Place it on the iron rest on the base it has non slip pads and has been designed to withstand high temperatures The iron soleplate regularly clean the soleplate with a damp non metallic washing up pad The base unit clean the plastic parts occasionally with a slightly damp cloth 7 RINSING OUT THE BOILER Be careful e To extend the life of your boiler and to avoid the building up of scale it is essential that you rinse out the boiler after every 10 uses If your water is hard increase the frequency In particular do not use descaling agents for rinsing out the bo2. case of professional use inappropriate use or failure to comply with the instructions the manufacturer accepts no responsibility and the guarantee does not apply ENVIRONMENT PROTECTION FIRS O Your appliance contains valuable materials which can be recovered or recycled O Take it to a local civic waste collection point 10 ISTHERE A PROBLEM Problems m Water runs through the holes in the soleplate Possible causes The boiler is too full The thermostat is not working the temperature is always too low You are using the steam control button before the iron is hot You are using too much steam on too low a temperature The water has condensed in the pipes because you are using steam for the first time or you have not used it for some time Solutions Do not fill the boiler right up to the top Contact an Approved Service Centre a Wait for the iron s thermostat light to go out before activating the steam control button a Wait for the iron s thermostat light to come on and go off again before activating the steam control button Depending on the model m Decrease the steam output while ironing at low temperature control dial on base unit Press the steam control button away from your ironing board until the the iron produces steam a White streaks come through the holes in the soleplate Your boiler has a build up of scale because it is not rinsed out regularly
3. steam control button under the iron handle Ironing Board For best results a vented ironing board should be used to allow any excess steam to escape and therefore avoid clothes becoming damp If you are using starch it should be sprayed on to the reverse side of the fabric to be ironed 4 VERTICAL STEAM IRONING Set the iron s temperature control slide to the maximum position If necessary set the steam output control dial on the base to the maximum position depending on the model As steam is very hot never attempt to remove creases from a garment while it is being worn always hang garments on a coat hanger 2 Hang the garment on a coat hanger and hold the fabric slightly taut with one hand 3 Holding the iron in a vertical position press repeatedly on the steam control button under the iron handle moving the iron from top to bottom 6 Recommendations For fabrics other than linen or cotton hold the iron a few centimetres from the garment to avoid burning the fabric 5 FILLING THE BOILER WHILE IN USE when the boiler is empty VERY IMPORTANT Before opening your boiler ensure that there is no more steam left inside by pressing the steam control button located under the handle of the iron and keep pressed down until there is no more steam 7 Never unscrew the boiler cap while the iron is producing steam 1 Press the on off switch to stop the generator 2 Disconnect the generator from the mains
