1. Never leave child unattended Always keep your child in view Never use stroller on stairs or escalators You may suddenly lose control of the stroller or your child may fall out Also use extra care when going up or down a step or curb Use of the stroller with a child weigh ing more than 40 Ibs 18 1 kg will cause excessive wear and stress on the stroller Use the stroller with only one child at a time 2 Failure to follow these warnings and the assembly instructions could result in serious injury or death Avoid serious injury from falling or Never place child in the stroller with DO NOT lift the stroller by the sliding out Always use seat belt head toward front of the stroller child s tray Be certain the stroller is fully erected DO NOT place purses shopping Avoid strangulation DO NOT place and latched before allowing your bags parcels and accessory items items with a string around your child near the stroller on handle or canopy They may fall child s neck suspend strings from on the child or change the balance this product or attach strings to toys of the stroller and make it unstable TO PREVENT A HAZARDOUS CONDITION do not place more than 10 Ibs 4 5 kg in the storage basket or more than 2 lbs 0 9 kg in the canopy bag DO NOT ALLOW YOUR CHILD to stand on the basket It may collapse and be FOR ADDITIONAL IMPORTANT cau

To Change to Swivel or Non swivel Wheels Front swivel wheels lock for use on uneven surfaces such as grass stones or gravel Before locking swivels first push stroller forward a few feet to ensure that the wheels are correctly positioned Slide DOWN for swivel Slide UP for non swivel To Use Parent s Tray AWARNING To avoid burns never put hot liquids in the parent s tray To prevent tipping over do not place more than 3 Ibs 1 4 kg on the parent s tray Step 1 Remove the two screws found on top of the stroller handle tubing just above the canopy Do not remove canopy screws Step 2 Fold the tray on its hinge several times to break in the hinge Step 3 Snap parent s tray to stroller handle as shown Reinsert screws attaching tray to handle To Adjust Canopy Push or pull canopy to desired position 10 To Fold Stroller Step 1 Before folding stroller fold canopy and recline seat Apply brakes to prevent stroller from moving Step 2 1 Slide red button on handle to the right 2 Twist grip away from yourself until it stops 3 Push stroller handle down O Pull latches up to release and fold handle down Step 3 Close and lock storage latch 11 To Attach the Graco Safety Seat on certain models AWARNING Improper use of this stroller with a carrier may result in serious injury or death Do not use this stroller with a sa
3. e NEVER give this safety seat or base to someone else without also giving them this manual e NEVER USE A SECOND HAND SEAT OR BASE 3 6 Warnings About Using the Safety Seat as a Carrier Infants can tip or slide the carrier by their movements or by pushing off other objects with their feet If the carrier tips over your child can suffocate If the carrier is too upright your infant s head may drop forward and cause breathing problems To avoid injury or death from suffocation falls and other hazards e ALWAYS place carrier on a firm and level surface Never place carrier on soft or plush surfaces that may allow carrier and infant to roll over e DO NOT place carrier near the edge of surfaces such as tables or counters To prevent falls stay within arm s reach whenever carrier is not on floor ground e ALWAYS use harness straps when child is in the carrier and NEVER LEAVE CHILD UNATTENDED e USE ONLY with strollers that are part of the Graco Travel System e BEFORE USING THE HANDLE to pick up or carry the safety seat be sure the handle is locked in position so that it will not move unexpectedly e NEVER PLACE carrier in the top of a shopping cart Strings and cords can cause strangulation Keep strings and cords away from child e DO NOT place carrier near a window where cords from blinds or drapes can strangle a child e DO NOT hang strings on or over the carrier e DO NOT place items with a string around a child

Reclng Th line adj knob rai dl e recline adjustment knob raises and lowers oo the foot beneath the base which helps to properly recline the safety seat base certain models 5 3 Removing and Attaching the Safety Seat Base 1 Squeeze base release handle at back of the safety seat to release the attachment latch Lift safety seat from base as shown 2 To reattach seat push it down until the safety seat clicks into base 3 Pull up on safety seat to be sure it is latched firmly into base 5 4 Adjusting the Handle The handle can lock into any of three positions for carrying reclining or sitting To adjust the handle 1 Press handle adjustment buttons on both sides of handle 2 Slowly rotate handle out of its locked N position D 3 Release buttons and rotate handle until it clicks into desired position and both handle adjustment buttons pop out 4 Push on the handle to be sure it is locked firmly in position Carrying 1 5 5 Attaching the Canopy The fabric canopy comes disassembled with four identical plastic supports The supports are straight at one end and are shaped like a C at the other end To assemble and attach the canopy to the safety seat 1 Thread straight end of a support all the way through a sewn tunnel in the fabric canopy until the end of the support comes through the other side of the canopy 2 Slide straight end of another support into the strai

7. s neck such as hood strings pacifier cords etc e DO NOT attach strings to toys 4 Selecting a Suitable Location for the Safety Seat Some seating positions in your vehicle may not be safe locations for this safety seat In fact some vehicles do not have any seating positions that can be used safely Improper placement of the safety seat increases the risk of serious injury or death Follow the instructions in this section and in your vehicle owner s manual to select a location for the safety seat If you are not sure where to place the safety seat in your vehicle contact your vehicle manufacturer or Graco Children s Products Inc 1 888 224 6549 4 1 Consider These Basic Recommendations According to accident statistics children are safer when properly restrained in rear vehicle seating positions rather than front seating positions D We recommend that whenever possible you secure the safety seat in the center position of the seat directly behind the front seats We also recommend 9 that an adult ride in the rear seat to watch the child A mi y a If the driver is the only adult present a child who ore must be closely watched may need to ride in the front seat but should only do so if there is no passenger side air bag and all of the other vehicle seat and seat belt requirements listed below are met 2 4 2 Be Sure Your Vehicle Seat Meets All of These Requirements e NEVER PLACE THIS SAFETY SEAT IN
8. too much force on a child s neck and shoulders The safety seat must be properly reclined according to the following instructions Adjustable Base 14 Make sure the safety seat base is not tilted sideways on the vehicle seat Check the level indicator You must look straight on at the indicator e If the indicator shows ONLY blue the safety seat is properly leveled e If any orange is showing in the level indicator the safety seat is either too upright or too reclined To correct the problem first note the degree of correction needed then follow the instructions below Loosen the base by releasing the seat o belt to access the recline adjustment knob If the safety seat is too upright turn the knob clockwise to increase the recline If you still need more recline after the adjustment foot is completely ze extended place rolled towels under foot until indicator shows ONLY blue If the safety seat is too reclined retract the adjustment foot into the base by turning the knob counterclockwise or shift safety seat manually to decrease the recline Use adjustment knob to change recline Non adjustable Base 14 Make sure the safety seat base is not tilted sideways on the vehicle seat Check the level indicator You must look straight on at the indicator e If the indicator shows ONLY blue the safety seat is properly leveled e If any orange is showing in the level indicator the safety seat base is ei

CHILD PUSH DOWN AND SIDE TO SIDE on the top of the safety seat slowly but very firmly to make sure the vehicle seat belt does not lengthen at all and that the seat belt is fastened very very tightly around the safety seat base If you find that your safety seat easily rotates down or your vehicle seat belt slips or becomes loose make sure you have followed steps 1 15 correctly or see section 4 Selecting a Suitable Location for the Safety Seat page 13 DO NOT USE THIS SEATING LOCATION IF THE SEAT BELT DOES NOT HOLD THE SAFETY SEAT TIGHTLY D 9 Using the Safety Seat in an Airplane e This safety seat may be installed in an airplane the same way that it is installed in an automobile Since airlines have some restrictions about the use of safety seats notify the airline ahead of time that you intend to bring the seat on board e Again for the safety of your child use the safety seat in forward facing aircraft seats only Follow the flight attendant s instructions about safety seat placement Follow the installation instructions as previously described e Always be sure that the airplane seat belt is adjusted so that it tightly holds the safety seat in place at all times 10 Using the Safety Seat with a Graco Stroller This safety seat can be used with certain models of Graco LiteRider strollers Refer to your LiteRider instruction sheet for details about how to attach the Safety Seat to your stroll

Squeeze sides of buckles to release To Use Brakes AWARNING Always apply brakes when parking stroller Push DOWN to park Check to make sure brake is on by pushing the stroller Lift brake levers UP to stroll To Use Head Supports To use stroller with a smaller child pull the plastic pieces from pockets located in the back of the cloth seat pad and reinsert them with curved side toward the front To use stroller with a larger child that does not need head support insert the plastic pieces with the curved side toward the back Back of cloth seat pad To Adjust Back Step 1 Pull up on the wire behind the seat to fully recline it Step 2 After seat is fully reclined lift seat upwards until it locks into one of the other positions AWARNING Fabric caught in the latches may prevent them from locking When returning seat to upright position do not allow fabric to be pinched in the latch To Adjust Leg Rest Push in the buttons at both sides of the leg rest While holding buttons in move leg rest up or down to desired position To Use Child s Tray AWARNING Always secure your child with the seat belt The child s tray is not a restraint device DO NOT lift the stroller by the child s tray Use care when clamping the child s tray on the stroller with a child in the stroller Snap the child s tray under the fold latch on both leg tubes as shown 785 7 00 9
12. are properly secured Follow these instructions carefully to properly secure your child 1 Make sure that the harness straps are in the proper slots for your child according to section 6 Inserting the Harness Straps in the Proper Slots page 30 2 Make sure that your child is dressed in clothing which a Allows the harness straps to securely latch between your child s legs b Keeps the straps on your child s shoulders 3 Move the safety seat handle to the sitting position and remove the strap from the harness clip as shown Unbuckle the harness and drape the harness straps over the back or sides of the safety seat 5 Point Straps removed from harness clip harness unbuckled 3 Point Strap removed from harness clip 4 Place your child in the safety seat so that the child s bottom rests against the back of the safety seat o 5 Pull the harness straps down over your child CORRECT INCORRECT D For the 3 Point Harness 6 Buckle the harness to the latch between your child s legs Make sure that you hear a click If the harness straps are not buckled the safety seat provides NO protection for your child DO NOT use the safety seat if the harness does not latch in place Call Graco at 1 888 224 6549 7 From the back of the safety seat pull the strap through the harness tightener to tighten the straps as shown Make sure that both straps are flat and tight on your child
13. properly secured in the safety seat e THERE ARE MANY KINDS of vehicles seat belt systems and occupant protection systems As a result it is not possible for this manual to tell you everything you need to know about putting this safety seat in your vehicle You must carefully follow the instructions provided by your vehicle manufacturer in addition to the information in this manual e SOME VEHICLES do not have any safe location for this safety seat and many vehicles have seat belt systems that must not be used with the safety seat because those systems will not safely hold the safety seat in place Again you must refer to both this manual and your vehicle owner s manual for complete information e NEVER COMBINE another manufacturer s base or safety seat with a Graco base or safety seat Call Graco for additional or replacement items e THIS SAFETY SEAT conforms to all applicable Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards e THIS SAFETY SEAT is certified for use in Motor Vehicles and Aircraft 3 3 A Warning About Air Bags e NEVER PLACE THIS SAFETY SEAT IN A VEHICLE SEATING LOCATION THAT HAS AN AIR BAG If an air bag inflates it can hit the safety seat with great force and cause serious injury or death to your child Refer to your vehicle owner s manual for information about air bags and child safety seat installation 3 4 When the Safety Seat is Not Occupied e PARTS OF THE SAFETY SEAT can become very hot if the seat is left in
14. seat D e DO NOT use a seat belt that is attached to the door in any way This type of belt is designed to open with the door and automatically surround the passen ger when the door is closed This seat belt will NOT safely restrain the safety seat e DO NOT use a seat belt that is anchored forward of the seat crease This seat belt will NOT safely restrain the safety seat e DO NOT use a shoulder belt that moves along a track to automatically surround the passenger when the door is closed This seat belt will NOT safely restrain the safety seat If you have one of the above seat belt systems DO NOT use it to secure the safety seat Look for a vehicle seat location that has a suitable seat belt see the next section or contact your vehicle manufacturer about installing a seat belt system that can be used to secure the safety seat B Seat Belt Systems that are Suitable for Use with the Safety Seat The following vehicle belt systems can be used with your safety seat IF the seat location meets all other requirements of these instructions AND THOSE IN YOUR VEHICLE OWNER S MANUAL e Lap belt that is manually adjusted and stays tight This type of seat belt is tightened by pulling on the excess belt once it is buckled This type of seat belt is most often found in the rear center seating positions e Lap belt that cannot lengthen once it is buckled amp This belt has an automatic locking retractor A L R
15. that does not allow the seat belt to lengthen without unbuckling the belt and starting over OD e Lap shoulder combination belt with a locking latchplate Once it is buckled this type of belt has a latchplate that will not allow the lap portion of the belt to loosen This seat belt does not require a locking clip e Lap shoulder combination belt with a latchplate that can slide freely along the belt This type of belt MUST be converted to prevent movement of the lap portion of the belt You must use the locking clip provided with the safety seat see section entitled To install the locking clip on page 47 unless your vehicle s seat belt can be converted in another way that is described in your vehicle owner s manual Failure to use the locking clip or convert the seat belt in another way will allow the safety seat to move out of position See your vehicle owner s manual or contact your vehicle manufacturer for more information Locking clip 5 Adjusting the Features and Components of the Safety Seat Each model of the safety seat comes with different harness and base options Please follow the instructions that are appropriate for the model which you have purchased Your seat will have either a 3 point or a 5 point harness Your base will be either adjustable or non adjustable Non adjustable Adjustable To adjust your safey seat properly it is very important that you follow

A VEHICLE SEATING LOCATION THAT HAS SS AN AIR BAG If an air bag inflates it can hit the safety seat with great force and cause serious injury or death to your child Refer to your vehicle owner s manual for information about air bags and child safety seat installation e THE VEHICLE SEAT MUST FACE FORWARD DO NOT place safety seat in a rear facing vehicle seat or a side facing vehicle seat e ONLY use this safety seat on vehicle seats with seat backs that lock in an upright position Do not use seats that can fold down without having to release a lock or latch of some kind These seats O can fly forward and strike the child in a sudden stop or crash e SEE YOUR VEHICLE OWNER S MANUAL or contact the vehicle manufacturer to make sure the vehicle manufacturer permits safety seat use in the location that you select 4 3 Be Sure Your Vehicle Seat Belt is Safe to Use The vehicle seat belt must be designed to hold the safety seat tightly at ALL times There are a variety of seat belt systems that are NOT safe for use with the safety seat because they will not hold the safety seat tightly at all times We will first describe the seat belts that are not safe for use and then we will describe those that are safe for use Pay careful attention to these systems some of the seat belts that are NOT safe to use look very much like seat belts that are safe to use If you are unsure contact the vehicle manufacturer or call Grac

20. arness straps must be adjusted remove your child from the safety seat and move the handle to the upright carrying position B For the 3 Point Harness Harness anchor 1 From the back of the safety seat push a corner of the harness anchor buckle back into its harness slot From the front of the safety seat use the harness strap to pull the buckle through the slot Harness tightener 2 Insert the harness anchor buckle all the way through the appropriate slot as determined in step 2 on page 31 3 From the back of the safety seat loosen and remove the other harness strap from the harness tightener From the front of the safety seat pull the harness strap through the slot 4 Insert the harness strap through the appropriate slot Thread the harness strap through the tightener exactly as shown in the picture 5 Inspect the harness straps from the front and back of the safety seat to be sure they are not twisted Twisted belts can create slack in the harness straps and reduce the protection provided by the safety seat 6 Pull on the harness straps from the front of the safety seat to be sure the straps are secure Make sure the harness anchor buckle is snapped in flat against the back of the seat as shown od For the 5 Point Harness 1 Lift the seat flap to access the harness adjuster button Depress the harness adjuster button and loosen the harness 2 Behind the seat pull the s
21. child s shoulder D For Both 3 and 5 Point Harnesses 11 Some infants may need extra support to keep their head and body in a comfortable position Your model may include our specially designed head support To use the support thread the harness straps through the slots in the head support cushion starting with the waist belt slots and continuing through the shoulder harness slots For help with the harness see section entitled Inserting the Harness Straps in the Proper Slots on page 30 If your model does not include a head support you may want to use a rolled towel or a blanket BUT MAKE SURE THAT THESE OBJECTS DO NOT INTERFERE WITH THE HARNESS It must still be flat and snug against your child s shoulders 8 Securing the Safety Seat Base in Your Vehicle There are many kinds of vehicles seat belts and occupant protection systems As a result it is not possible for this manual to tell you everything you need to know about putting this safety seat in your vehicle You must carefully follow the instructions provided by your vehicle manufacturer in addition to the information in this manual Before proceeding be sure you have read and understood the section on safe and unsafe seat belt systems Failure to properly secure the safety seat in a rear facing position within the vehicle increases the child s risk of serious injury or death in the event of a sharp turn sudden stop or crash Car
22. cing position in a forward facing vehicle seat CHILDREN MUST FACE THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE AND BE PLACED IN A VEHICLE SEAT THAT FACES FORWARD 8 Thread the seat belt a If you are using the base follow diagram b If you are not using the base follow diagram 9 Buckle the seat belt Make sure the buckle tongue goes into the correct buckle and not the adjacent one amp 3 ay D The seat belt should not be twisted or turned 10 Now the vehicle seat belt must be tightened When tightening the seat belt over the safety seat make sure there is no slack on either side of the safety seat and between the vehicle belt hooks on the safety seat When tightening the seat belt through the base make sure there is no slack on either side of the base and along the base belt path To create a very tight installation push down hard with your knee or free hand in the middle of the safety seat or base and pull and tighten the vehicle belt e If you have a lap only belt go to step 11 e If you have a lap shoulder combination belt go to step 12 11 Tightening a lap only belt e An automatically adjusted lap belt is tightened by feeding the seat belt back into its retractor while pushing down hard on the safety seat or base Make sure that seat belt is locked in place and very tight e A manually adjusted lap belt is tightened by pulling on the excess belt while pushing down hard o

25. efully follow these instructions and those in your vehicle owner s manual to be sure your safety seat is properly located positioned and held tightly at all times Preparation and Initial Safety Checks 1 Make sure vehicle is on level ground so that the level indicator which is attached to the safety seat can be used to properly recline the safety seat 2 Make sure you have selected a suitable location for the safety seat as explained in section 4 Selecting a Suitable Location for the Safety Seat page 13 3 Check again to be sure that the vehicle seat does not have an air bag and that an adjacent seat s air bag will not strike the safety seat 4 If a front passenger seat is used slide the vehicle seat rearward as far as possible from the dashboard If a rear seat is used make sure the seat in front of it is moved forward enough and is upright enough to allow room for the safety seat 5 Be sure that the vehicle seat is locked in position and cannot swing freely down toward the child Positioning and Securing the Safety Seat Base 6 Remove safety seat from base regardless of whether or not you plan on using the base Squeeze the base release handle at the back of the safety seat and lift the safety seat from the base 7 If you are going to use the base place the base in a rear facing position in a forward facing vehicle seat If you are not using the base place the safety seat in a rear fa

33. n the safety seat or base However you may have trouble tightening the belt because of the upright angle at which you must pull You may have to unbuckle the seat belt estimate a seat belt length that will make the seat belt very tight then buckle it again 12 Tightening a lap shoulder combination belt e A lap shoulder combination belt with a locking latchplate is tightened by pulling hard on the shoulder portion of the seat belt while pushing down hard on the safety seat However you may have trouble tightening the belt because of the upright angle at which you must pull You may have to unbuckle the seat belt estimate a seat belt length that will make the seat belt very tight then buckle it again e A lap shoulder combination belt with a latchplate that can slide freely along the belt requires the locking clip unless your vehicle s seat belt can be converted in another way that is described in your vehicle owner s manual See your vehicle owner s manual to find out if your seat belt can be converted to prevent movement of the lap portion of the belt Otherwise the locking clip MUST be used To install the locking clip a Tighten the buckled seat belt by pushing down hard on the safety seat and pulling hard on the shoulder belt b While continuing to push down on the safety seat let go of the shoulder strap and pinch the two straps together just behind the buckle tongue c While
34. o at 1 888 224 6549 Many seat belt systems are NOT safe to use with child safety seats even though they can easily be threaded through the safety seat Carefully read this section for information on seat belt systems and refer to your vehicle owner s manual and any labels on your vehicle s seat belt You may need to have a special seat belt installed by your vehicle dealer before using the safety seat A Seat Belt Systems that are NOT Safe for Use with the Safety Seat DO NOT use the following types of vehicle belt systems with your safety seat They will not hold the safety seat securely in place The metal locking clip provided with this product will NOT make any of these seat belts safe e DO NOT use a lap belt that stays loose and can move until it locks in a crash or sudden stop This belt has an Emergency Locking Retractor E L R It is often seen in combination with a motorized shoulder belt Since these lap belts will loosen if pulled on slowly the safety seat may shift to an unsafe position This seat belt will NOT safely restrain the safety seat However you may be able to convert your E L R belt to one that is safe to use See your vehicle owner s manual for more information or contact your vehicle manufacturer e DO NOT use a lap shoulder combination belt where each strap has a retractor at one end and is attached to the latchplate at the other end of the belt This seat belt will NOT safely restrain the safety
35. s back on the safety seat Models with 5 Point Harness To wash the safety seat pad 1 Remove the harness from the safety seat by following the instructions on page 34 for the 5 point harness 2 Below the owner s manual pocket to the left and right are small anchor buckles attached to the waist straps of the harness Push aside the small tab that holds the anchor buckles in place and pull the anchor buckles out of their indentations Push a corner of each anchor buckle back into its slot 3 From the front of the safety seat pull all shoulder and waist harness straps through their slots 4 Carefully remove the seat pad DO NOT USE SAFETY SEAT without the seat pad 5 Machine wash on delicate cycle and drip dry DO NOT USE BLEACH 6 Fit pad into position then reverse the process above to properly reinstall the harness system You must pass the shoulder straps through the appropriate slots and under the plastic retainer secure the shoulder straps to the harness junction plate and snap waist belt anchor buckles into rear indentations buckles should first be placed under the retainers opposite the flexible tab then pulled or pushed past the tab Check that harness system is not twisted and pull on harness system to be sure harness is securely reinstalled 12 Replacement Parts Instructions for Ordering Safety Seat Parts Complete the form that follows Your safety seat model and serial numbers MUST b
