1. 10 Attach the Latch Housing 73 to the Left Upright 11 84 with two 8 x 3 4 Screws 3 start both Screws and then tighten them Note Make sure that the large hole in the Latch Housing is on the indicated side Remove the knob from the pin Make sure that the collar and the spring are on the pin Note If there are two collars place one on each side of the spring Next insert the pin into the Latch Housing 73 Then tighten the knob onto the pin a gt ge Collar Hole Pin Make sure that all parts are properly tightened before you use the treadmill If there are sheets of clear plastic on the treadmill decals remove the plastic To protect the floor or carpet place a mat under the tread mill Note Extra hardware may be included Keep the included hex key in a secure place the hex key is used to adjust the walking belt see pages 26 and 27 If you purchase the optional chest pulse sensor see page 21 follow the steps below to install the receiver included with the chest pulse sensor 4 Remove the key from the console and unplug the power cord Remove the indicated 8 x 3 4 Screw 3 and the Access Door 76 from the back of the Console Base 85 Connect the wire on the receiver A to the indi cated wire extending from the Console Base 85 Hold the r
2. 11 Before beginning any exercise program con sult your physician This is especially impor tant for persons over the age of 35 or per sons with pre existing health problems It is the responsibility of the owner to ensure that all users of this treadmill are adequately informed of all warnings and precautions Use the treadmill only as described Place the treadmill on a level surface with at least 8 ft 2 4 m of clearance behind it and 2 ft 0 6 m on each side Do not place the treadmill on any surface that blocks air open ings To protect the floor or carpet from dam age place a mat under the treadmill Keep the treadmill indoors away from mois ture and dust Do not put the treadmill in a garage or covered patio or near water Do not operate the treadmill where aerosol products are used or where oxygen is being administered Keep children under the age of 12 and pets away from the treadmill at all times The treadmill should be used only by per sons weighing 275 Ibs 125 kg or less Never allow more than one person on the treadmill at a time Wear appropriate exercise clothes when using the treadmill Do not wear loose clothes that could become caught in the treadmill Athletic support clothes are recom mended for both men and women A ways wear athletic shoes Never use the treadmill With bare feet wearing only stockings or in sandals When connecting the power cord see page 11 plug the po
3. the speed setting will change in in crements of 0 5 mph If you press one of the num bered 1 Step Speed buttons the walking belt will gradually increase in speed until it reaches the se lected speed setting To stop the walking belt press the Stop button The time will begin to flash in the display To restart the walking belt press the Start button the Speed increase button or one of the numbered speed but tons 4 Change the incline of the treadmill as desired To change the incline of the treadmill press the Incline increase and decrease buttons or one of the incline buttons numbered 0 to 10 Each time you press the Incline increase or decrease button the incline will change by 0 5 If you press one of the numbered incline buttons the treadmill will ad just to the selected incline setting Note After you press the buttons it may take a moment for the treadmill to reach the selected incline setting Follow your progress with the display Wh E n th E a ja e a manual mode E is selected the display will show a track that represents 1 4 mile 400 meters As you walk or run indica tors will appear in succession around the track until the entire track appears The track will then disap pear and the indicators will again begin to appear in succession m m Ta ud al Track 14 The upper part of the display can also show the elapsed time the distance that you have walked or run the

Co 5 C4 E CE gt 0000000080 A WARNING To redui inju i FEATURES OF THE CONSOLE The treadmill console offers an impressive array of features designed to make your workouts more effective and enjoyable When you select the manual mode of the console you can change the speed and incline of the treadmill with the touch of a button As you exercise the console will display continuous exercise feedback You can even measure your heart rate using the built in handgrip pulse sensor or the optional chest pulse sensor see page 21 The console also features six interactive cross trainer workouts designed to help you to burn calories and en hance your cardiovascular system while toning and strengthening your muscles These workouts feature the voice of a personal trainer to guide you through your workouts The cross trainer workouts automati cally control the speed and incline of the treadmill and 12 prompt you to perform a variety of strength exercises during your workout There are two whole body two upper body and two lower body cross trainer workouts to choose among Note The strength exercises re quire the use of dumbbells and an inflatable exercise ball not included To purchase dumbbells or an
6. belt centered Then plug in the power cord insert the key and run the treadmill for a few minutes Rear Roller Bolts Repeat until the walking belt is properly tightened c If the walking belt still slows when walked on please see the front cover of this manual 26 PROBLEM The walking belt is off center or slips when walked on SOLUTION a If the walking belt is off center first remove the key and UNPLUG THE POWER CORD If the walking belt has shifted to the left use the hex key to turn the left rear roller bolt clockwise 1 2 of a turn if the walking belt has shifted to the right turn the left bolt counterclockwise 1 2 of a turn Be careful not to overtighten the walking belt Then plug in the power cord insert the key and run the treadmill for a few minutes Repeat until the walking belt is centered b If the walking belt slips when walked on first re move the key and UNPLUG THE POWER CORD Using the hex key turn both rear roller bolts clock wise 1 4 of a turn When the walking belt is correctly tightened you should be able to lift each edge of the walking belt 3 to 4 in 8 to 10 cm off the walking plat form Be careful to keep the walking belt centered Then plug in the power cord insert the key and care fully walk on the treadmill for a few minutes Repeat until the walking belt is properly tightened PROBLEM The upper body arms squeak during use SOLUTION a Note Correcting this problem requires a sm
7. ex ercise ball call the telephone number on the front cover of this manual In addition a distance workout counts down the dis tance as you complete a 5 kilometer or 10 kilometer run In addition the console features four preset work outs Each workout automatically controls the speed and incline of the treadmill as it guides you through an effective workout To turn on the power follow the steps beginning on page 13 To use the manual mode of the console see page 13 To use a cross trainer workout see page 16 To use a distance workout see page 18 To use a preset workout see page 19 HOW TO TURN ON THE POWER IMPORTANT If the treadmill has been exposed to cold temperatures allow it to warm to room tem perature before turning on the power If you do not do this the console displays or other electrical components may become damaged Plug in the power cord see page 11 Next locate the reset off circuit breaker on the treadmill frame near the power cord Make sure that the circuit breaker is in the reset position Reset Position N IMPORTANT The console features a display demo mode designed to be used if the treadmill is dis played in a store If the displays light as soon as you plug in the power cord and switch the circuit breaker to the reset position the demo mode is turned on To turn off the demo mode hold down the Stop button for a few seconds If the displays remain lit see THE INFO
8. if desired See step 7 on page 15 When you are finished exercising remove the key from the console See step 8 on page 15 HOW TO USE A PRESET WORKOUT 1 Insert the key into the console See HOW TO TURN ON THE POWER on page 13 Select a preset workout To select a preset work out press one of the Fat Burn or Aerobic but tons P 9 P 10 P11 or P12 will appear in the display When a preset workout is selected the maximum speed setting of the work out and the maximum incline setting of the workout will flash in the display for a few seconds in addi tion the display will show the workout time A pro file of the speed settings of the workout will scroll across the matrix in the display Press the Start button or the Speed increase button to start the workout A moment after the button is pressed the treadmill will automatically adjust to the first soeed and in cline settings for the workout Hold the handrails and begin walking Each workout is divided into several one minute segments One speed setting and one incline set ting are programmed for each segment Note The same speed setting and or incline setting may be programmed for two or more consecutive segments During the workout the profile will show your progress The flashing segment of Current Segment 19 the profile represents the current segment of the workout The height of the flashing
9. segment indi cates the speed setting for the current segment At the end of each segment a series of tones will sound and the next segment of the profile will begin to flash If a different speed and or incline setting is programmed for the next sentence the new speed and or incline settings will flash in the display to alert you The workout will continue in this way until the last segment of the profile flashes in the display and the last segment ends The walking belt will then slow to a stop If the speed or incline setting is too high or too low at any time during the workout you can manually override the setting by pressing the Speed or Incline buttons Note When the next segment of the workout begins the treadmill will automati cally adjust to the speed and incline settings for the next segment To stop the workout at any time press the Stop button To restart the workout press the Start but ton or the Speed increase button The walking belt will begin to move at 1 mph When the next seg ment of the workout begins the treadmill will auto matically adjust to the speed and incline settings for the next segment Follow your progress with the display See step 5 on pages 14 and 15 Measure your heart rate if desired See step 6 on page 15 Turn on the fan if desired See step 7 on page 15 When you are finished exercising remove the key from the console See step 8 on page 15 THE INFORMATION MODE The

RMATION MODE on page 20 to turn off the demo mode Next stand on the foot rails of the treadmill Locate the clip attached to the key see the drawing on page 12 and slide the clip securely onto the waistband of your clothes Then insert the key into the console After a moment the displays will light IMPORTANT In an emergency situation the key can be pulled from the console causing the walking belt to slow to a stop Test the clip by carefully taking a few steps backward if the key is not pulled from the console adjust the position of the clip 13 HOW TO USE THE MANUAL MODE 1 Insert the key into the console See HOW TO TURN ON THE POWER at the left Select the manual mode When you in sert the key the manual mode will be selected If you have se lected a work out reselect the manual mode by pressing any of the cross trainer buttons once or twice until a track appears in the display Gira mi Track Start the walking belt To start the walking belt press the Start button the Speed increase button or one of the speed but tons numbered 1 to 10 If you press the Start but ton or the Speed in crease button the walk ing belt will begin to move at 1 mph As you exercise change the speed of the walking belt as desired by pressing the Speed increase and decrease buttons next to the Start button Each time you press a button the speed setting will change by 0 1 mph if you hold down a button
15. all amount of white marine grease available at hardware stores If the Left Upper Body Arm 97 squeaks turn the Resistance Knob A counterclockwise and remove it Next remove the Resistance Cone B and the Left Upper Body Arm along with the Resistance Plate C Washers D Spring Washer E Thrust Washers F and Thrust Bearing G Note If the Resistance Plate C comes out of the Resistance Cone B press it back in Apply a thin layer of white marine grease to the outer surface of the Resistance Cone B Then reattach all parts in the order shown at the right Repeat this procedure for the Right Upper Body Arm not shown if necessary 27 EXERCISE GUIDELINES A WARNING Before beginning any exercise program consult your physician This is especially important for persons over the age of 35 or persons with pre existing health problems The pulse sensor is not a medical device Various factors may affect the accuracy of heart rate readings The pulse sensor is in tended only as an exercise aid in determining heart rate trends in general These guidelines will help you to plan your exercise program For detailed exercise information obtain a reputable book or consult your physician Remember proper nutrition and adequate rest are essential for successful results EXERCISE INTENSITY Whether your goal is to burn fat or to strengthen your cardiovascular system exercising at the proper inten sity is the k
16. console features an information mode that keeps track of treadmill usage information The information mode also allows you to select miles or kilometers as the unit of measurement to select an audio trainer set ting to adjust the volume and to turn on and turn off the demo mode To select the information mode hold down the Stop button insert the key into the console and then release the Stop button When the information mode is se lected the following information will appear in the dis play The center of the display will show the total number of hours that the treadmill has been oper ated The lower part of the dis play will show total number of miles or kilometers that the walking belt has moved In addition an E for English miles or an M for metric kilometers will appear in the lower part of the display To change the unit of measurement press the Speed increase button I S E I The upper left part of the display will show the per sonal trainer audio setting If you select ON as the audio setting the personal trainer will guide you through your workouts and give detailed instructions If you select the OFF setting your personal trainer will simply guide you through your workouts Press the Incline decrease button to change the audio setting if desired LL E a AIEE LIL a E om HERENEN You can adjust the volume of the personal trainer audio 0 thr
17. e adjust the intensity of your exercise until your heart rate is near the highest number in your training zone WORKOUT GUIDELINES Warming up Start with 5 to 10 minutes of stretching and light exercise A warm up increases your body temperature heart rate and circulation in preparation for exercise Training Zone Exercise Exercise for 20 to 30 min utes with your heart rate in your training zone During the first few weeks of your exercise program do not keep your heart rate in your training zone for longer than 20 minutes Breathe regularly and deeply as you exercise never hold your breath Cooling down Finish with 5 to 10 minutes of stretch ing Stretching increases the flexibility of your muscles and helps to prevent post exercise problems EXERCISE FREQUENCY To maintain or improve your condition complete three workouts each week with at least one day of rest be tween workouts After a few months of regular exer cise you may complete up to five workouts each week if desired Remember the key to success is to make exercise a regular and enjoyable part of your everyday life SUGGESTED STRETCHES The correct form for several basic stretches is shown at the right Move slowly as you stretch never bounce 1 Toe Touch Stretch Stand with your knees bent slightly and slowly bend forward from your hips Allow your back and shoulders to relax as you reach down toward your toes as far as possible Hold for 15 count

19. e help of a second person carefully tip the treadmill onto its other side Partially fold the Frame 58 so that the treadmill is more stable Do not fully fold the Frame yet Attach the Left Upright 84 to the Base 108 with a 3 8 x 1 Bolt 106 a 3 8 x 2 3 4 Bolt 105 and two 3 8 Star Washers 23 Do not tighten the Bolts yet 5 Attach two Base Pads 82 to the Base 108 with two 8 x 1 Tek Screws 83 as shown Insert the other Extension Leg 89 into the Base 108 as shown Hold two Extension Leg Nuts 67 in the bottom of the Extension Leg Next insert two 5 16 x 2 1 4 Bolts 65 into the top of the Extension Leg and firmly tighten the Bolts into the Extension Leg Nuts 6 With the help of a second person carefully raise the Right Upright 107 and the Left Upright not shown to a vertical position Console Have the second person hold the console as Assembly sembly near the Right Upright 107 as shown Look under the console assembly and locate the Console Wire 66 Connect the Upright Wire 77 to the Console Wire 66 See the inset drawing The connec tors should slide together easily and snap into place If they do not turn one connector and try again IF THE CONNECTORS ARE NOT CONNECTED PROPERLY THE CON SOLE MAY BE DAMAGED WHEN THE POWER IS TURNED ON Remove the wire tie from the Upright Wire 7 Insert the Upright Wire 77 and the Console Wire 66 into the R
20. e the frame about halfway to the vertical position 2 Move your right hand to the position shown and hold the treadmill firmly Using your left hand slide the cushion so that it is aligned with the latch pin Pull the latch knob to the left and hold it Slowly release the latch knob Make sure that the latch pin is fully inserted into the hole in the cen ter of the cushion To protect the floor or carpet from damage place a mat under the treadmill Keep the treadmill out of direct sun E Cushion light Do not leave the treadmill in the storage position in F ma temperatures above 85 F 30 C J Latch Knob Lu MWA Latch Pin HOW TO MOVE THE TREADMILL Before moving the treadmill convert the treadmill to the storage position as described above Make sure that the catch is rest ing against the latch pin 1 Hold the upper ends of the handrails Place one foot against one of the wheels 2 Tilt the treadmill back until it rolls freely on the front wheels Carefully move the treadmill to the desired location To re duce the risk of injury use extreme caution while mov ing the treadmill Do not move the treadmill over an un even surface 3 Place one foot against one of the wheels and carefully lower the treadmill until it is resting in the storage position 23 HOW TO LOWER THE TREADMILL FOR USE 1 Hold the upper end of the treadmill with your right hand Pull the latch knob to the left a
21. eceiver so that the small cylin der is oriented as shown and is facing the Console Base Attach the receiver to the plastic posts on the Access Door 76 with the two in cluded small screws Make sure that no wires are pinched Reattach the Access Door 76 with the 8 x 3 4 Screw 3 Discard the other wires included with the re ceiver 10 Small Cylinder OPERATION AND ADJUSTMENT THE PRE LUBRICATED WALKING BELT Your treadmill features a walking belt coated with high performance lubricant IMPORTANT Never apply sil icone spray or other substances to the walking belt or the walking platform Such substances will deteriorate the walking belt and cause excessive wear HOW TO PLUG IN THE POWER CORD A DANGER Improper connection of the equipment grounding conductor can result in an increased risk of electric shock Check with a qualified electrician or service man if you are in doubt as to whether the product is properly grounded Do not modify the plug provided with the product f it will not fit the outlet have a proper outlet installed by a qualified electrician Your treadmill like any other type of sophisticated electronic equipment can be seriously damaged by sudden voltage changes in your home s power Voltage surges spikes and noise interference can result from weather conditions or from other appliances being turned on or off To decrease the possibility of the treadmill bei
