2. a small amount of mild detergent IMPORTANT To avoid damage to the console keep liquids away from the console and keep the console out of direct sunlight BATTERY REPLACEMENT If the console display becomes dim the batteries should be replaced most console problems are the result of low batteries To replace the batteries see assembly step 5 on page 7 HOW TO ADJUST THE REED SWITCH If the console does not display correct feedback the reed switch should be adjusted To adjust the reed switch the left side shield must be removed Turn the Crank 21 to the position shown Using an adjustable wrench turn the Left Pedal 24 clockwise and remove it Next remove the indicated M4 x 25mm Screws 42 and the indicated M4 x 16mm Screws 49 Then carefully remove the Left Side Shield 17 Next locate the Reed Switch 43 Turn the Crank 21 until the Magnet 38 is aligned with the Reed Switch Loosen but do not remove the indicated M4 x 16mm Screw 49 Slide the Reed Switch slightly closer to or away from the Magnet and then retighten the Screw Turn the Crank for a moment Repeat until the console displays correct feedback When the Reed Switch is correctly adjusted reattach the left side shield and the left pedal ZS HOW TO LEVEL THE EXERCISE CYCLE If the exercise cycle rocks on your floor during use see HOW TO LEVEL THE EXERCISE CYCLE on page 10 15 EXERCISE GUIDELINES A WARNIN

4. has high low and auto speed settings while the auto mode is selected the speed of the fan will automatically increase or decrease as you increase or decrease your pedaling speed Press the Fan button repeatedly to select a fan speed or to turn off the fan Note If the pedals do not move for about thirty seconds the fan will turn off auto matically Pivot the thumb tab on the right side of the fan to adjust the fan angle To turn off the fan press the Fan button again Note If the pedals do not move for about thirty seconds the fan will automatically turn off to con serve the batteries When you are finished exercising the console will turn off automatically If the pedals do not move for several seconds a series of tones will sound and the console will pause If the pedals do not move for about five minutes the console will turn off and the displays will be reset HOW TO USE A PRESET WORKOUT 1 Press any button on the console or begin ped aling to turn on the console See step 1 on page 12 Select a preset workout To select one of the eight preset workouts press one of the eight buttons on the right or left side of the console When you select a preset workout the name of the workout and the maximum resistance level will appear in the display for a few seconds A profile of the resistance levels of the workout will also scroll across the left side of the display Begin pedaling to start the wo
5. 10 Nylon Locknuts 33 as shown 2 While another person lifts the rear of the Frame 1 attach the Rear Stabilizer 6 with two M10 x 75mm Carriage Bolts 30 and two M10 Nylon Locknuts 33 3 Tip Avoid pinching the Wire Harnesses 36 55 during this step While another person holds the Upright 13 in the position shown connect the Upper Wire Harness 36 to the Lower Wire Harness 55 A Avoid pinching the AZ Wire Harnesses 36 Carefully pull the excess Upper Wire Harness 36 out 55 during this step of the top of the Upright 13 and slide the Upright onto the Frame 1 Next attach the Upright with three M8 x 25mm Button Screws 45 and three M8 Split Washers 41 Attach the Water Bottle Holder 8 to the Upright 13 with two M4 x 22mm Screws 20 4 Attach the Handlebar 15 to the Upright 13 with two M8 x 45mm Button Screws 9 and two M8 Curved Washers 57 5 The Console 16 can be operated with four 1 5V D batteries not included alkaline batteries are recom mended IMPORTANT If the exercise cycle has been exposed to cold temperatures allow it to warm to room temperature before inserting batter ies into the Console If you do not do this the console displays or other electronic components may become damaged Press the tabs on the bat tery cover and remove the battery cover Insert four batteries into the console make sure that the batter ies are oriented as shown

Then reattach the bat tery cover The Console 16 can also be operated with an optional power supply not included To purchase a power supply call the telephone number on the front cover of this manual To avoid damaging the console use only a manufacturer supplied power supply Plug one end of the power supply into the jack on the console plug the other end into an outlet installed in accordance with all local codes and ordi nances Batteries Battery Cover 6 Hold the Console 16 near the Upright 13 Connect the console wire to the Upper Wire Harness 36 Insert the excess console wire and Upper Wire Harness 36 downward into the Upright 13 Next attach the Console 16 to the Upright with four M4 x 16mm Screws 49 Be careful to avoid pinching the wires Console Avoid pinching the wires during this step 7 Attach the Seat Frame 28 to the Frame 1 with three M8 x 25mm Button Screws 45 and three M8 Split Washers 41 8 Turn the Seat Knob 11 counterclockwise and pull it outward Next insert the Seat Post 5 into the Seat Frame 28 Press the Seat Post Endcap 54 into the lower end of the Seat Post Next align one of the adjustment holes in the Seat Post 5 with the indicated hole in the Seat Frame 28 Then release the Seat Knob 11 into the Seat Frame and the Seat Post and turn the Seat Knob clockwise a Adjustment few turn Make sure that the Seat Knob is inserted through one o

11. ce Resistance increase and decrease buttons There are ten resistance levels Note After you press the buttons it may take a moment for the pedals to reach the selected resistance level Follow your progress with the displays The upper right display can show the elapsed time the approximate number of calories you have burned and the dis tance you have pedaled The display will change modes every few seconds 12 The lower right display can show your pedaling speed and the resistance level of the pedals The display will change modes every few seconds The display will also show your heart rate when you use the handgrip pulse sensor see step 5 on page 13 The left display will show a track repre senting 1 4 mile As you exercise indicators will appear in succes sion around the track until the entire track appears The track will then disappear and the indicators will again begin to appear in succession To change the display mode press the Display but ton repeatedly until the desired exercise information appears in the upper or lower right display After several seconds the displays will change modes automatically as before Note The console can display speed and dis tance in either miles or kilometers The letters MPH or Km H will appear while your ped aling speed is dis played to show which unit of measurement is selected To change the unit of measurement first press t

14. f the adjustment holes in the Seat Post 9 Attach the Seat 12 to the Seat Post 5 with four M8 Nylon Locknuts 10 and four M8 Split Washers 41 Note The Nylon Locknuts and the Split Washers may be preattached to the underside of the Seat 10 Identify the Left Pedal 24 which is marked with an L Using an adjustable wrench firmly tighten the Left Pedal counterclockwise into the left arm of the Crank 21 Tighten the Right Pedal not shown clockwise into the right arm of the Crank IMPOR TANT Tighten both Pedals as firmly as possible After using the exercise cycle for one week retighten the Pedals For best performance keep the Pedals tightened Adjust the Left Pedal Strap 25 to the desired posi tion and press the end of the Pedal Strap onto the tab on the Left Pedal 24 Adjust the Right Pedal Strap not shown in the same way 4 e Make sure that all parts are properly tightened before you use the exercise cycle Note After assembly is completed some extra parts may be left over Place a mat beneath the exercise cycle to protect the floor HOW TO OPERATE THE EXERCISE CYCLE HOW TO ADJUST THE SEAT POST For effective exer cise the seat should be at the proper height As you pedal there should be a slight bend in your knees when the pedals are in the lowest position To adjust the height of the seat first turn the seat knob coun terclockwise and pull it outward Next slide the se
15. he Display button for a few seconds until the display is blank then release the Display button Press the Fan button repeatedly to change the unit of measurement You can also adjust the volume of the console tones at this time Press the Magnetic Resistance increase and decrease buttons to select a volume level between 1 and 5 When you have selected the desired unit of measurement and vol ume level press the Display button again 5 Measure your heart rate if desired If there are sheets of clear plastic on the metal contacts on the handgrip pulse sensor remove the plas tic In addition make sure that your hands are clean To measure your heart rate hold the handgrip pulse sensor with your palms resting against the metal contacts Avoid moving your hands or gripping the contacts tightly When your pulse is detected a heart shaped sym bol will flash in the lower right display each time your heart beats one or two dashes will appear and then your heart rate will be shown For the most accurate heart rate reading hold the con tacts for at least 15 seconds If your heart rate is not shown make sure that your hands are positioned as described Be care ful not to move your hands excessively or to squeeze the metal contacts tightly For optimal performance clean the metal contacts using a soft cloth never use alcohol abrasives or chemi cals to clean the contacts 13 Turn on the fan if desired The fan

18. o burn fat effectively you must exer cise at a low intensity level for a sustained period of time During the first few minutes of exercise your body uses carbohydrate calories tor energy Only after the first few minutes of exercise does your body begin to use stored fat calories for energy If your goal is to burn fat adjust the intensity of your exercise until your heart rate is near the lowest number in your training zone For maximum fat burning exercise with your heart rate near the middle number in your training zone Aerobic Exercise If your goal is to strengthen your cardiovascular system you must perform aerobic exercise which is activity that requires large amounts of oxygen for prolonged periods of time For aerobic exercise adjust the intensity of your exercise until your heart rate is near the highest number in your training zone WORKOUT GUIDELINES Warming up Start with 5 to 10 minutes of stretching and light exercise A warm up increases your body temperature heart rate and circulation in preparation for exercise Training Zone Exercise Exercise for 20 to 30 min utes with your heart rate in your training zone During the first few weeks of your exercise program do not keep your heart rate in your training zone for longer than 20 minutes Breathe regularly and deeply as you exercise never hold your breath Cooling down Finish with 5 to 10 minutes of stretching Stretching increases the flexibil

21. rkout Each workout is divided into either 20 or 30 one minute segments One resistance level and one target pace setting are programmed for each seg ment Note The same resistance level and or tar get pace setting may be programmed for consecu tive segments DI Profile i Resistance Resistance During the workout the workout profile will show your progress see the drawing above The flash ing segment of the profile represents the current segment of the workout The height of the flashing segment indicates the resistance level for the cur rent segment At the end of each segment of the workout a series of tones will sound and the next segment of the profile will begin to flash If a differ ent resistance level is programmed for the next segment the resistance level will appear in the display for a few seconds to alert you The resis tance of the pedals will then change During the workout the workout target pacer will prompt you to keep your pedaling speed near the target pace setting for the current segment When a left indicator lights increase your speed when a right indicator lights decrease your speed When the center indicator lights maintain your current speed IMPORTANT The workout target pacer is intended only to provide a goal Make sure to pedal at a speed that is comfortable for you GO FASTER gt B 1 GO SLOWER WORKOUT TARGET PACER If the resistance level for
