To cancel the timer press and hold the TIMER ON OFF pad until the word TIMER disappears from the display TIMER STOP COOK ON OFF CLOCK TIME TIME CLEAN BROIL BAKE amp CLOCK To set the clock first press the CLOCK pad Then press the INCREASE or DECREASE pad to change the time of day STOP TIME Use this pad along with the COOK TIME or CLEAN pad to set the oven to start automatically at a time you select 10 COOK TIME Press this pad for the Timed Baking operations 11 CLEAN Press this pad to select the self cleaning function See the Operating the Self Cleaning Oven section 12 BROIL Press this pad to select the broil function 13 BAKE Press this pad to select the bake function 14 DECREASE Short taps to this pad decrease the time or temperature by small amounts Press and hold the pad to decrease the time or temperature by larger amounts If F and a number flash in the display and the oven control signals this indicates function error code Press the CLEAR OFF pad Allow the oven to cool for one hour Put the oven back into operation If the function error code repeats disconnect the power to the range and call for service 11 BUTYOOZ DVLBJING OVEN CONTROL Clock The clock must be set to the correct time of day for the automatic oven timing functions to work properly The time of day cannot be changed during a Timed Baking or Self Cleaning cyc

Most fish and tender cuts of meat can be broiled Follow these directions to keep spattering and smoking to a minimum Turn the food only once during broiling Time the foods for the first side according to the Broiling Guide Turn the food then use the times given for the second side as a guide to the preferred doneness The oven door should be closed during broiling 1 If the meat has fat or gristle around the edge cut vertical slashes through both about 2 apart If desired the fat may be trimmed leaving a layer about 1 8 thick 2 Place the meat on the broiler rack in the broiler pan which comes with the range Always use the rack so the fat drips into the broiler pan otherwise the juices may become hot enough to catch on fire 3 Position the shelf on the recommended shelf position as suggested in the Broiling Guide 4 Close the oven door Jse of Aluminum Foil You can use aluminum foil to line your broiler pan and broiler rack However you must mold the foil tightly to the rack and cut slits in it just like the rack Without the slits the foil will prevent fat and meat juices from draining to the broiler pan The juices could become hot enough to catch on fire If you do not cut the slits you are frying not broiling Questions amp Answers Q When broiling is it necessary to always use a rack in the pan A Yes Using the rack suspends the meat over the pan As the meat cooks the juices fal
4. than any one of the other three Use it for canning or large pans To Light a Surface Burner Push the control 7 knob in and turn it unterclockwise to LITE You will hear a little clicking noise the sound of the electric spark igniting the burner After Lighting a Burner Check to be sure the burner you turned on is the one you want to use Do not operate a burner for an extended period of time without cookware on the grate The finish on the grate may chip without cookware to absorb the heat The lowest setting of the burner has a small flame to provide simmering capability To simmer foods set the cooktop control knob to the lower setting that will maintain the desired simmer After the burner ignites turn the knob to adjust the flame size If simmering on one burner and the other burners are turned on the gas flow of the simmering burner may have to be adjusted Be sure the burners and grates are cool before you place your hand a pot holder cleaning cloths or other materials on them continued next page a doy yoo uOSLIBdWIO BUIyOO avVjANG How to Select Flame Size Watch the flame not the knob as you reduce heat The flame size on a gas burner should match the cookware you are using Cookware Aluminum Medium weight cookware is recommended because it heats quickly and evenly Most foods brown evenly in an aluminum skillet Use saucepans with tight fitting lids
5. 3 hours You can change the Clean Time to any time between 2 and 4 hours depending on the amount of soil in your oven How to Delay Start of Cleaning Quick Reminder 1 Prepare the oven for cleaning 2 Close the oven door completely 3 Press the CLEAN pad 4 Press the INCREASE or DECREASE pad until the desired Clean Time appears 5 Press the STOP TIME pad 6 Press the INCREASE or DECREASE pad until the desired Stop Time appears in the display Delay Start is setting the oven timer to start the clean cycle automatically at a later time than the present time of day NOTE Before beginning make sure the oven clock shows the correct time of day For example Let s say it s 7 00 and you want the oven to begin self cleaning at 9 00 after you re finished in the kitchen The oven is just soiled a normal amount so the normal Clean Time of 3 hours is preferred 1 Prepare the oven for cleaning 2 Close the oven door 3 Press the CLEAN pad Dew 4 Press the INCREASE pad Three hours A cleaning time is automatically set w 5 If a longer or shorter Clean Time is desired press the INCREASE or DECREASE pad until the desired v Clean Time is displayed IA The self clean cycle will automatically begin after CLEAN is displayed and the word ON appears in the display When the oven heats to a high temperature the word LOCK will appear in the display It will not be possible to open the oven d
6. a safe distance from your range e Always keep wooden and plastic utensils and canned food a safe distance away from your range eDo not leave paper products cooking utensils or food in the oven when not in use Do not store flammable materials in an oven a range storage drawer or near a cooktop e Do not store or use combustible materials gasoline or other flammable vapors and liquids in the vicinity of this or any other appliance e Do not let cooking grease or other flammable materials accumulate in or near the range e When cooking pork follow the directions exactly and always cook the meat to an internal temperature of at least 170 F This assures that in the remote possibility that trichina may be present in the meat it will be killed and the meat will be safe to eat Surface Cooking e Always use the LITE position when igniting the surface burners and make sure the burners have ignited e Never leave surface burners unattended at high flame settings Boilovers cause smoking and greasy spillovers that may catch on fire e Adjust the surface burner flame size so it does not extend beyond the edge of the cookware Excessive flame is hazardous eUse only dry potholders moist e or damp pot holders on hot surfaces may result in burns from steam Do not let pot holders come near open flames when lifting cookware Do not use a towel or other bulky cloth in place of a pot holder Such cloths can catch fire on

This is normal and the fan may continue to run even after the oven is turned off Electric Ignition The oven burner and broil burner are lighted by electric ignition To light either burner touch the pad for the desired function and press the INCREASE or DECREASE pad until the desired temperature is displayed The burner should ignite within 30 90 seconds Power Outage CAUTION DO NOT MAKE ANY ATTEMPT TO ERATE THE ELECTRIC IGNITION OVEN JRING AN ELECTRICAL POWER OUTAGE Neither the oven nor the broiler can be lit during an electrical power outage Gas will not flow unless the glow bar is hot Oven Shelves The shelves are designed with stop locks so that when placed correctly on the shelf supports they will stop before coming completely out from the oven and will not tilt when removing food from or placing food on them When placing cookware on a shelf pull the shelf out to the stop position Place the cookware on the shelf then slide the shelf back into the oven This will eliminate reaching into the hot oven Shelf Positions The oven has four shelf supports identified in this illustration as A bottom B C and D top elf positions for cooking are suggested in the baking Roasting and Broiling sections continued next page After the oven reaches the selected temperature the oven burner cycles off completely then on with a full flame to keep the oven temperature controlled If the oven is in us
17. a hot surface burner eTo minimize the possibility of burns ignition of flammable materials and spillage turn cookware handles toward the side or back of the range without extending over adjacent burners e Always turn the surface burners off before removing the cookware e Carefully watch foods being fried at a high flame setting ever block the vents air openings of the range They provide the air inlet and outlet that are necessary for the range to operate properly with correct combustion Air openings are located at the rear of the cooktop at the top and bottom of the oven door and under the storage drawer or kick panel Do not use a wok on the cooking surface if the wok has a round metal ring that is placed over the burner grate to support the wok This ring acts as a heat trap which may damage the burner grate and burner head Also it may cause the burner to work improperly This may cause a carbon monoxide level above that allowed by current standards resulting in a health hazard e Foods for frying should be as dry as possible Frost on frozen foods or moisture on fresh foods can cause hot fat to bubble up and over the sides of the pan e Use least possible amount of fat for effective shallow or deep fat frying Filling the pan too full of fat can cause spillovers when food is added a combination of oils or fats will be used 4 frying stir together before heating or as fats melt slowly Always hea

21. and dry them thoroughly by setting them in a warm oven for 30 minutes Burner Grates The burner grates should be washed regularly and of course after spillovers Wash them in hot soapy water or with cleansing powders and rinse with clean water Dry the grates with a cloth do not put them back on the range wet When replacing the grates be sure they re positioned urely over the burners Burner Support Gas Valve Orifice screws from igniter bracket BurnerPorts Lighter Port Flash Tube 2 AAT S Q ID pue area Air Shutter To replace the burners 1 Slip the air shutter over the gas valve orifice 2 Lower the burner assembly and hook the tabs in the slots in the burner support 3 Be sure both tabs are in their slots that the burner sits level and straight and that the flash tube forms a straight line from the igniter to the burner ouluvs To get rid of burned on food place the grates in a covered container or plastic bag Add 1 4 cup ammonia and let them soak for 30 minutes Wash rinse well and dry Although they re durable the grates will gradually lose their shine regardless of the best care you can give them This is due to their continual exposure to high temperatures Do not operate a burner for an extended period of time without cookware on the grate The finish on the grate may chip without cookware to absorb the heat 29 Do not clean in the self cleaning
