7. that it is correctly engaged e After use the kettle may be left on the base but we recommend you unplug the cord from the outlet 840146600 ENvOl qxd 1 18 06 4 41 PM gpa 5 IF YOUR KETTLE BOILS DRY The heating element is protected by two automatic safety devices If your kettle is acci dentally switched on without being filled with water or is allowed to boil dry the kettle will automatically switch off You should 1 Turn the kettle OFF unplug the kettle and wait about 20 minutes for the element to cool down 2 Refill the kettle then use as normal and check that the kettle functions correctly IF YOUR KETTLE DOES NOT WORK Make these simple checks before calling the toll free customer assistance number e Have you switched the power switch button to ON I position e f the kettle heats but does not boil it might need descaling e Has the kettle been accidentally switched on without being filled with water or allowed to boil dry Turn the kettle OFF wait 20 minutes and try again e Is the kettle cord firmly plugged into the outlet and the kettle firmly seated in the base CLEANING YOUR KETTLE With kettle unplugged empty any remaining water and rinse Allow kettle to cool The mesh filter may be removed by pressing inward through the spout with a finger The filter will drop into kettle cavity To insert the filter into the spout position the filter with tabs toward spout and press filter until it fits into pl
8. tle is now ready for use 1 Remove from power base before filling 2 Fill kettle with required amount of water Ensure that water level is between MIN and MAX on the water level indicator If using the mesh filter it must be in place WARNING If kettle is overfilled there is a risk that boiling water may spit out of the spout 3 Make sure that the lid is in place and the power base is on a level surface If lid is not in place auto shut off will not operate 4 Plug into outlet and turn on I 5 The kettle will switch off O automatically when the water has boiled Remember the surface of the kettle gets hot take care only grip the kettle by the handle 6 After use unplug kettle and empty NOTE Use water only in the kettle If used for foods or beverage such as tea or coffee the warranty will be voided IF HEATING ELEMENT DISCOLORS It is normal for stainless steel heating elements to discolor This does not affect the performance of the kettle Do not use abrasive scouring pads or cleaners as this may damage the stainless steel surface CORDLESS KETTLE Your cordless kettle has the power supply connected to the power base eliminating the need to plug and unplug the cord from the electrical outlet However it is always a good safety practice to unplug the power base when not in use e For general operation see Using Your Electric Kettle e After filling the kettle with water it should be placed on the base so
