Drag the sliders to increase or decrease any of the following m the amount of red green or blue in your image m the amount of light brightness in the image m the contrast between light and dark extremes in your image s colors m the saturation or intensity of color in a specified hue Click the PRINTER button to see how your copy will look with the settings you have chosen Click the SCANNER button to return to your original preview or click the RESET button to return to the default settings Click the START button to begin copying Copying 35 36 Copying Printing Printing with your EPSON Stylus Scan 2000 is a lot like using any other printer You can click the Print button or select Print from the menu in any Windows or Macintosh program To reprint photographs you can use Photo Print in the EPSON Smart Panel Windows only No matter how you print you need to remember two things m Use the right paper m Choose the right printer settings If you ve used other printers before you may be surprised at how much difference your paper can make Plain paper is fine but special ink jet papers are even better Your printer automatically adjusts itself for each type of paper That s why printer settings are important They tell your printer what kind of paper or media you re using So remember to check your printer settings every time you print It s easy to do just follow the instructions i

Click the Quality button to select Normal Fine or Photo Click the Quality button to select one of these settings m Normal for everyday fax quality m Fine for higher resolution quality m Photo for faxing smooth looking photographs Click the Pages button to indicate whether you are faxing a single page or multiple pages Click the numbers on the keypad to dial your fax number Or click the green To area and type in the number Make sure the number is correct then click the green Start button on your screen to begin the scan to fax process Your document goes into the scanner and then comes out slowly as it s scanned A scanning in progress message appears on your screen then it tells you that your attachment is being converted into a fax image If you re sending a multiple page fax a box will appear on your screen after the first page is scanned Click Continue to scan more pages or No to fax the page or pages that are already scanned Press the red Stop Clear button on the EPSON Stylus Scan control panel to eject the document l Click the button on your screen to close the Scan to Fax window Faxing 99 note If you have only one phone line for your modem and telephone you might want to set up your system to receive faxes manually Right click the fax icon on your taskbar and uncheck Automatic Receive note You can have faxes print out automatically when you recei

Remove only the yellow part of the tape seal on top Don t pull off the blue portion or try to remove the clear seal underneath the cartridge 112 Maintaining Your EPSON Stylus Scan caution Don t open the clamp or remove a cartridge except to replace it with a new one Once you remove a cartridge you can t reuse it even if it contains ink warning If ink gets on your hands wash them thoroughly with soap and water If ink gets into your eyes flush them immediately with water Keep ink cartridges out of the reach of children Press the s cleaning button and hold it for about three seconds until the print head moves left and the power light begins flashing Pull up the ink cartridge clamp The cartridge rises up from its holder Lift the cartridge out of the printer and dispose of it carefully Lower the new ink cartridge into its holder with the label facing up and toward the back of the printer Don t press down on the cartridge Maintaining Your EPSON Stylus Scan 113 caution Never turn off the printer while the O power light is flashing unless the printer hasn t moved or made any noise for more than 5 minutes Press down the ink cartridge clamp until it locks in place Then press the ey cleaning button and release it quickly The printer moves the print head and begins charging the ink delivery system Even if you don t press the button ink charging begins 60 seconds

22. on both Windows and Macintosh computers with USB or parallel connection m Easy to use software for printing copying and scanning Welcome 1 2 Welcome Print Copy and Scan If you ve used a printer before you know how to print with your EPSON Stylus Scan 2000 It works like any other computer printer Using your EPSON Stylus Scan 2000 for quick copies is the same as using a photocopy machine you insert a page press a few buttons and out comes your copy When you want to use photos or original artwork in your creations you first have to get them into your computer That s where your scanner comes in You insert your original the same way you do for copying But instead of pressing the buttons on the control panel you use your software to control the scanner You bring the image into your computer enhance or edit it and then place the image into your newsletters and flyers Make sure you follow all the instructions on your Start Here sheet to set up your EPSON Stylus Scan 2000 and install its software Before you use it turn to Chapter 8 in this guide for information about system and location requirements year 2000 readiness and safety Special Features Your EPSON Stylus Scan 2000 and software make it easy to do specialized projects using these features m Photo Print Windows only You can make extra prints of your favorite photos starting with an actual photograph or wit
