If the perforation is not aligned with the tear off edge you can adjust the tear off position using the micro feed feature See Adjusting the tear off position on page 3 39 3 When you resume printing the printer automatically feeds the paper back to the top of form position and begins printing You can also manually feed the paper back to the top of form position by pressing the Tear Off button 3 22 Paper Handling You can leave auto tear off mode on even when you are using single sheets because the mode is disabled when you move the paper release lever to the single sheet position Removing continuous paper 1 After you finish printing press the Tear Off button The printer advances the paper to the tear off position Note When the auto tear off function is on the printer advances the paper perforation to the tear off position automatically You can turn on the auto tear off function by using SelecType or the EPSON Remote utility For instructions see SelecT ype on page 4 6 or open EPSON Remote as described on page 2 23 and follow the on screen instructions 2 Tear off the printed pages 3 Pressthe Load Eject button to feed the continuous paper backward out of the printer and into the standby position 4 To completely remove continuous paper from the printer open the sprocket covers Remove the paper from the tractor unit and then close the sprocket covers Paper Handling 3 23 Using Specia

Paper Handling 4 Move the paper release lever to the single sheet position Now you can load single sheets from the front or rear paper guide For details see Using Single Sheets on page 3 7 Switching to continuous paper To switch from single sheets to continuous paper follow the steps below 1 If necessary press the Load Eject button to eject the last printed single sheet 2 Make sure continuous paper is loaded in the printer as described under Loading continuous paper with the tractor on page 3 14 3 Move the paper release lever to the tractor position Paper Handling 3 37 The printer automatically advances the continuous paper from the standby position to the loading position when it receives data Using the Micro Feed Feature The micro feed feature allows you to move paper forward or backward in 1 180 inch increments so you can finely adjust the printing and tear off positions Adjusting the printing position The printing position is the position on the page where the print head actually prints during a print job You can change the current vertical printing position temporarily by using the micro feed feature as described in the steps below Note Your printing position setting is in effect only until the next time you load paper or turn off the printer 1 Make sure the printer is turned on 2 Press the Pause button to stop printing The Pause light comes on 3

SelecType mode where you can make the default settings for most of the printer s functions such as character tables margins printer mode serial communication and other settings In many cases you do not need to change the SelecType settings because they are set to the factory default settings which meet the needs of most users Note You can print out a list of the current default settings by holding down the Selec Type button while you turn on the printer The list is printed in the language selected in SelecType Your software program sends printer commands that usually override the SelecType settings If you do not get the results you expect check your software settings first SelecType has two levels Level 1 contains printing functions such as character table page length and margins Level 2 contains printer configuration functions that you change less frequently such as auto tear off interface selection and serial communication settings 4 8 Controlling the Printer Using SelecType This section describes basic operations in SelecType Follow these steps to change the default settings 1 Turnon the printer 2 Press Selec Type to enter the SelecType mode Q Pressing the button once allows you to enter SelecType Level 1 The display shows Q Pressing the button twice allows you to enter SelecType Level 2 The display shows Note Pressing Selec Type three times consecutively exits SelecType an

Using the printer driver Before you start printing you should make sure that the printer driver settings match your document requirements While many Windows applications override the printer settings made with the driver some do not See this section for instructions on how to access the printer driver check the printer driver settings and change settings if necessary Accessing the printer driver from Windows applications When you access the printer driver from a Windows application any settings you make apply only to the application you are using The access method explained below is typical for many Windows applications but the way you access your printer driver may differ depending on your application See your application manual for details To access the printer driver select Print Setup or Print from the File menu of your application software If you choose Print Setup you see your application s Print Setup dialog box If you choose Print you see your application s Print dialog box To access the printer driver from the Print dialog box choose Printer Setup Properties or Options depending on the options available in your application You may need to choose a combination of these options The Properties window appears The Page Setup and Advanced menus contain the printer driver settings Click the tabs at the top of the window to open these menus 2 14 Setting Up Your Software Accessing the printer driver fro
