9. cause it to explode resulting in damage to the appliance O Ice lollies can cause frost burns if consumed straight from the freezer INSTALLATION This appliance is designed to operate in ambient temperatures between 10 C and 32 C It should be located in a dry atmosphere out of direct sunlight and away from extreme temperature e g not next to a cooker or other sources of direct heat or in a very cold room e g an outhouse where the temperature may fall below 10 C 50 F A tubular spacer s is provided to be fitted in the cup s at the rear of the appliance to ensure that there is sufficient space between appliance and wall for correct air circulation A clear space of at least 50 mm must be left above the appliance and care should be taken to ensure that ventilation under the appliance is not impeded e g by deep pile carpets etc This appliance must be level when installed Adjustable feet are provided on certain models to accommodate uneven floors Before switching on make sure that the voltage of your electricity supply is the same as that indicated on the rating plate This is located near the base of the cabinet WARNING THIS APPLIANCE MUST BE EARTHED If this appliance is fitted with a non rewireable plug for which your socket is unsuitable the plug should be cut off and an appropriate plug fitted The removed plug should be disposed of as insertion of the plug into a 13 A socket is likely to cause an electrical hazard If it is

12. n food manufacturer is maintained the following should be remembered Packets should be placed in the freezer as quickly as possible after purchase and it is advisable to mark the packets with the date If there are instructions on the packet carefully follow these regarding storage times The storage life of frozen foods vary and you should not exceed the recommended storage times The instructions regarding care of frozen food should be followed when defrosting the food freezer see Complete Defrosting WARNING 1 Donotplace sealed containers of carbonated liquids fizzy drinks etc into the freezer 2 Allow water ices and ice lollies to warm up slightly after taking them from the freezer Eating them straight from the freezer can cause low temperature skin abrasions IMPORTANT If a substantial temperature rise occurs in the frozen foods a during defrosting b due to non compliance with the manufacturer s instructions c due to factors such as electric power failures or faults the storage life may be reduced and the storage times stated may not then apply FREEZING FOOD The Tricity Home Freezing Booklet gives full details of preparation of fresh food for freezing The maximum quantity of food which should be frozen in 24 hours is 9 kg 20 Ib FAST FREEZE COMPARTMENT The top shelf of the appliance is designed to operate as a fast freeze compartment The refrigerated shelf provides the cooling place food t
13. n lights should be illuminated and the number may change periodically as the thermostatic control of the freezer operates or if the door is opened and closed If the freezer is run colder more green lights will be extinguished If only the yellow lights are on the freezer is operating colder than necessary unless used as explained under fast freeze procedure After prolonged fast freezing it may be possible that all indicator lights are extinguished If this occurs the fast freeze switch should be turned off FAST FREEZE SWITCH Operating this switch will cause the freezer to run continuously Do not leave the switch in this position unnecessarily otherwise power consumption may be excessive The amber light will warn you that this switch is in operation DOOR WARNING SIGNAL LIGHT If the cabinet door is left open for more than approximately 90 seconds you will hear a warning bleep and a red warning indicator will flash Close the door and these will stop FROZEN FOOD STORAGE Prepacked commercially frozen food should be stored in accordance with the frozen food manufacturer s instructions for a 3 star frozen food storage compartment which for long term storage is generally up to three months A handy general guide is printed on the top panel of the freezer interior door The non refrigerated shelf and basket may be removed to enable larger items to be stored HINTS ON FROZEN FOOD STORAGE To ensure that the high quality achieved by the froze
14. n the defrosting process has taken longer than 2 hours the outside of the frozen foods may have begun to soften but provided the foods have not completely thawed they will refreeze satisfactorily Repeated rises in temperature may cause slight deterioration in quality CLEANING The interior of the freezer should be cleaned occasionally following the instructions given under Before Use The outside of the cabinet should be wiped clean with a damp cloth Stubborn marks may be removed with anon scratch cream cleanser Wipe dry with a soft cloth CLOCK ADJUSTMENT Simply press fast or slow advance buttons until correct time is indicated Please note that the clock will need resetting if disconnected from mains or after power failure Slow advance AM PM indicator Quartz accuracy 12 hr clock Fastadvance SERVICE CHECK If the appliance is noisy 1 Ensure that the appliance compressor unit has not been pushed against the wall or that any foreign objects are resting against the compressor unit at the base of the appliance 2 Check that the appliance is level see Installation section 3 Ensure that the tubes at the back of the appliance are not vibrating against the cabinet or any other part If this is so they should be eased away gently 4 The liquid refrigerant sometimes causes a very faint bubbling sound This is quite normal in an appliance of this type If appliance fails to operate 1 If the appliance
15. o be frozen evenly with as much contact with the shelf as possible FAST FREEZE PROCEDURE Before Freezing Pre cool the freezer by switching on the fast freeze approximately 6 hours prior to freezing This procedure need not be followed for small occasional items Note 1 Do not freeze food in the baskets or in unnecessary containers as best results are obtained if food to be frozen is placed in direct contact with a refrigerated shelf 2 Donotload the cabinet when the red light or lights are on although intermittent operation of the red light can be ignored during early stages of freezing AFTER FREEZING After 24 hours the food will be fully frozen Turn off the fast freeze switch If required the food may be re distributed to allow for further freezing loads REMOVAL OF FROST As times goes on frost will form on the refrigerated shelves or wails in the freezer cabinet Whenever the door of the freezer is opened moisture from the air enters the cabinet and frost forms inside so do not leave the door open unnecessarily This frost should be scraped away periodically using a wooden or plastic scraper or a stiff bristle brush Never use metal or sharp instruments or the interior surfaces of the freezer may be damaged COMPLETE DEFROSTING Complete defrosting will in the course of time become necessary This should be carried out if the frost build up cannot all be scraped away or if it begins to interfere with the food storage Choose
