3. ation location 2 Use a pallet jack or other assisted lift to transport the new chassis to the installation area Doorways must be wider than 36 in 91 cm to accommodate the chassis on the pallet 3 Remove the rack mount kit accessory kit packing foam and antistatic plastic from the chassis and set aside Install cabinet hardware 1 Loosen the two 10 32 adjusting screws securing the each mid mount bracket to the saddle Figure 1 on page 5 and slide brackets as far backward as possible 2 Install the saddle to the equipment rack rails using the following steps while referring to Figure 2 on page 7 Also refer to Figure 3 on page 7 for details on securing screws to equipment rack a Install the saddle A in Figure 2 on page 7 to the port side of the equipment cabinet rails using four 10 32 screws with square cone washers D in Figure 2 on page 7 two screws on each side of the saddle Tighten screws to 32 in lbs 36 86 cm kg Move the mid mount brackets into position so they align with the equipment cabinet mounting holes on the nonport side of the rack Secure the mid mount brackets to the equipment cabinet with four 10 32 screws with square cone washers two on each side Tighten screws to 32 in lbs 36 86 cm kg Tighten the two 10 32 adjusting screws on each mid mount bracket PowerConnect B DCX 4S Mid Mount Rack Kit Installation Procedure 53 1001798 01 FIGURE2 Saddle installed in equipment cabinet Adjusting

5. ift to install it Installation guidelines ATTENTION To ensure adequate cooling install the chassis with the air intake nonport side facing the cool air aisle Follow these general installation guidelines e Provide a space that is 8 rack units 8U high 61 19 cm 24 09 in deep and 43 74 cm 17 22 in wide 1U is equal to 4 45 cm 1 75 in e To allow the quick removal of all power from the chassis use AC power sources that are easily accessible and located near the chassis e Verify that the additional weight of the chassis does not exceed the weight limits of the cabinet PowerConnect B DCX 4S Mid Mount Rack Kit Installation Procedure 3 53 1001798 01 e Plan for cable management before installing the chassis Cables can be managed in a variety of ways such as by routing cables below the chassis to either side of the chassis through cable channels on the sides of the cabinet or using patch panels Refer to the DCX 4S Backbone Hardware Reference Manual for specific information e Ensure that one or two dedicated electrical branch circuits with the following characteristics are available 200 240 VAC 50 60 Hz refer to the corresponding Hardware Reference Manual for additional electrical specifications Protected by a circuit breaker in accordance with local electrical codes Supply circuit line fusing and wire size are adequate according to the electrical rating on the chassis nameplate Grounded outlets
