1. Disable If you prefer you may deactivate or reactivate AutoArming To do see User Selectable Features on pages 6 7 E AutoArm amp Lock To ensure you can t accidentally lock your keys inside the car the system is factory set not to lock the doors upon AutoArming To change this setting see User Selectable Features on pages 6 7 m NOTE To prevent AutoArming of the system when fueling the vehicle either enable valet mode or leave one of the doors open the system AutoArms 30 seconds after all doors are closed E Protected Valet Mode Whenever the alarm is put in protected valet mode all of the alarm functions are bypassed preventing AutoArming and accidental activation of the alarm Use the valet mode whenever your car is either to be serviced by mechanics handed over to car wash personnel or driven by valet attendants It also comes in handy if you ever lose your remote control or its battery dies If you have the AutoArming feature set on when fueling your car either put the alarm in valet mode or leave the driver s door open the system will not AutoArm if a door is open Be sure to ask your installer to show you where the valet switch is located E To tum ON the protected valet mode 1 Insert your ignition key and turn it to the ON position or start the engine 2 Flip the valet switch 3 The LED will glow continuously to indicate that the alarm is in valet mode m To tum OFF the protected valet mode 1 Insert you

World Class Auto Security gt lt E E o a a 00005004 Owner s Manual Using Your XL 000 Security System E 2 Button 3 Channel Remote Control The 2 button 3 channel remote control is a miniature radio transmitter with a range of up to 100 feet Obstructions interference or a weak battery will reduce the range Your 2 button 3 channel remote control is the key to your security system It is an ingenious user friendly device that transmits three distinct and unique digital codes Use it to arm or disarm the system lock or unlock the doors activate its panic feature or control options such as the SmartWindows II accessory and a remote trunk release TO ARM Press button I once You will hear two chirps and the parking THE SYSTEM lights will flash twice The dashboard LED will flash repeat edly and the car doors will automatically lock Any attempt to break into the vehicle will immediately disable the starter sound the siren and flash the parking lights TO DISARM Press button I again One chirp and one flash of the parking THE SYSTEM lights will confirm disarming In addition the car doors will automatically unlock and the interior lights will tum on and stay on for 30 seconds or until you start the engine TO ACTIVATE AN Press button II to activate a remote controlled option such as a OPTION remote trunk release be sure to disarm the XL 1000 before re motely releasing the trunk latch

6. atic Malfunction Bypass To provide the utmost protection even if a system component malfunctions the system will automatically bypass the faulty point and arm all other triggers and sensors until you can have the system serviced by your local Authorized Dealer E Smart Prior Intrusion Attempt Alert When you remotely disarm if you hear 3 chirps instead of the usual one chirp it means that a trigger or sensor was activated in your absence When you enter the vehicle the LED will blink several times pause then repeat the blink cycle 4 more times Count the number of blinks in one cycle and refer to the chart below Number of LED blinks per cycle after disarming Trigger Sensor Activated 1 blink Vibration impact sensor or optional sensor 2 blinks Doortrigger 3 blinks Trunk or hood trigger E JofalRecall The system s non volatile memory records the identity of the last activated or malfunctioning trigger or sensor which allows your installer to instantly track down a malfunction and save you servicing costs To identify the trigger or sensor held in the system s non volatile memory simply perform the following procedure 1 With the ignition OFF flick the valet switch to one side 2 Press button I to arm the system then again to disarm 3 The LED will blink several times pause then repeat the blink cycle 4 times 4 Count the number of blinks in one cycle and refer to the chart that follow

8. is tampering with your vehicle E Automatic Starter Interrupt The system automatically prevents engine starting while the system is armed Only after disarming will the system allow the engine to be started with the ignition key E Smart Autolesting Each time you remotely arm your vehicle it will perform a series of tests on all triggers and sensors If a trigger malfunction is found you will be visually and audibly alerted immediately with 4 chirps and flashes instead of the usual 2 If a sensor is malfunctioning you will receive the usual 2 chirps and flashes then a few seconds later there will be 4 chirps and flashes m Specific Malfunction Identification The system not only tells you if the problem is a trigger or sensor but it can also indicate the specific trigger or sensor that is malfunctioning This feature saves you time and money since your installer won t have to spend hours trying to determine where the prob lem is Here s how it works 1 You receive the 4 chirp 4 flash signal upon remote disarming 2 The LED indicator inside the vehicle will be flashing pause then repeat 3 Count the number of blinks in one cycle between pauses for your conven ience the blink cycle repeats 5 times and refer to the chart below Number of LED blinks between pauses Malfunction 1 blink Vibration impact sensor or optional sensor 2 blinks Door trigger 3 blinks Trunk or hood trigger E Autom
9. lti Level Chirp Control Whenever you wish you may silence the system s arm disarm chirps The short term and one time chirp muting capabilities are especially valuable when parking late at night in a quiet residential area You have several choices m Extended Chirp Silencing Lets you completely silence the chirps until you wish to restore them See User Selectable Features on pages 5 6 m Short Term Chirp Muting Lets you silence the chirps for a single arm and dis arm cycle To enable short term chirp muting simply turn the vehicle s igni tion switch rapidly ON then OFF The next time you arm and later disarm the system there will be no chirps After which the chirps are restored m One Time Remote Chirp Muting The most simple of all To remotely arm or disarm the alarm silently press buttons I II on the remote control User Selectable Features Your XL1000 vehicle security system allows you to set many of its features to your own personal preferences We have made the programming procedures very simple to make a change you just flick the valet switch a few times The system comes from the factory with all of its features pre programmed as noted in the table below and on page 7 To change any of the settings use the procedure noted To restore the feature to its factory setting just repeat the procedure 1 Select the feature you wish to program from the table on the following pages Note the number of flicks and chirps associ
10. r ignition key and turn it to the ON position or start the engine 2 Flip the valet switch 3 The LED will turn off to indicate that the alarm is in normal operating mode m Keyless Entry in Valet Mode Even if valet mode is on you will still be able to remotely control all the convenience features For instance simply press but ton I as if you were arming or disarming and your car s doors will lock or un lock You can also use button II to activate an option 2 E Tompering Warning Normally the system immediately sounds its siren at the first inkling of an intru sion attempt However you may set the system to issue a rapid five chirp warning whenever the system detects tampering to the exterior of your vehicle If there is any further tampering within the next 30 seconds or if a door the hood or trunk is opened at any time your system will sound a continuous 125dB siren blast To select the mode of your choice see User Selectable Features on pages 6 7 m NOTE Turning on the Tampering Warning feature overrides the FACT fea ture and vice versa m FACT False Alarm Control and Test With FACT you ll never experience repeated false alarms If your siren goes off DO NOT remotely disarm the system allow it to run for the full 30 second siren duration The system automatically checks for another activated trigger before sounding the siren a second time Should the siren sound again you will know for sure that someone
