1. PROCEDURE DURING 12 MONTH WARRANTY PERIOD Any Asahi Pentax which proves detective during the 12 month warranty peiod should be returned to the desler from whom you purchased the equipment or to the manufacturer there is no representative of the manufacturer in your country send the equipment to the manufacturer with postage prepaid In this it will take a considerable length of time botore the equipment can be returned 1o you owing to the complicated customs procedures required in Japan in importing and re exporting photographic equipment If the equipment is covered by warranty repairs will be made and parts replaced free of charge and the equipment will be returned to you upon completion of servicing If equipment is not covered by warranty regular charges of the manufacturer or of its representatives will apply Shipping charges are to be borne by the owner If your Asahi Pentax was purchased outside of the country where you wish to have servied during the warranty period regular handling and servicing fees may be charged by the manufacturer s representatives in that country Notwithstanding this your Asahi Pentax returned to the manufacturer will be serviced free of charge according to this procedure and warranty policy In any case however shipping charges and customs clearance fees are to be borne by the sender To prove the date of your purchase when required please keep the receipts or bills

ERA HOLDING As a general rule your camera sh vid be held more firmly by the left hand which does not release the shutter If you hold your camera with the right hand the hand which releases the shutter it may cause camera movement Very often blurred pictures are due to movement of the camera Horizontal position A Mold the camera firmly Hold your camera tightly with your left hand and to your forehead with draw your arms close to your left hand and draw your body Your right arm close to Your body Vertical position C Hold your camera tightly to your forehead with your left hand raise your right arm and draw your left arm to your body FILM UNLOADING After the final picture on the roll has been taken the rapid wind lever will not turn indicating that the film must be rewound Lift the rewind crank up Depress the fim rewind release button and turn the rewind crank as im dicated to rewind the film into its cassette Rewind until the tension on the crank lessens indicating that the leader end of the film has been released from the take up spool Pull out the film rewind knob the back will open utomaticaly and re the fim AVOID DIRECT LIGHT WHEN LOADING OR UNLOADING THE FILM STOP DOWN LEVER AND STOP DOWN METERING The down position is normal for the stop down lever on the Spotmatic F The down position is necessary fo

S White viewing through the viewfinder turn the focusing ring with your thumb and index finger you get the sharpest image of your subject at the microprism center of the finder 5 ROTATE DIAPHRAGM RING The needle moves with the turn of the diaphragm ring When the needie rests at the center vou will get correct exposure If the needle does not come to the enter no matter how for you turn the dia phragm ring change the shutter speed When the needle is off center and close to the mark you will get over exposure change the shutter speed to Taster setting f the needie is closer to the ma you will get underexposure change the shutter speed to slower setting 6 RELEASE SHUTTER Hold your camera firmly and trip the shutter When the shutter is released cock the rapid wind lever fo the next picture When taking a series of pictures wer the same lighting conditions itis not neces sary to repeat instructions 5 MERCURY BATTERY HOW TO INSERT IT Open the battery chamber cover with a coin Insert the battery with 9 side faced outward For roplacement use Mallory PX 625 or Everady 625 or equivalent HOW TO CHECK IT Set the shutter speed dial to B bulb position Turn the ASA dial to ASA 100 Look at the meter needle through the viewfinder 1 the needie is in up position and remains steady the battery has sufficient power if it does not replace the bat

Use the film type dial to show what type of film is in your camera The dia is v blackandwhite for daylight color film 8 for tungsten color film 20 and 36 When you have pulled out the rewind knob to open the back when loading the film move the dial selector and turn the outer ring so that both the type of film and its number of exposure appear in the windows To check whether the camera is loaded turn the film rewind knob clockwise If it turns frooly tho camora is not loaded SETTING ASA FILM SPEED The ASA film speed rating of ail 6mm films is given in the data sheet pack with each roll of film The higher the ASA umber the more sensitive the fim Lift the outer ring of the shutter speed dial and rotate it until the ASA number of your film is opposite the orange dot alongeide the figure 1 sure to set your film speed on the shutter speed dial because tne diol is connected to the exposure meter system COMPOSE AND FOCUS Mihi viewing through the viewfinder turn the focusing ring until your subject comes into sharp focus Pentax viewtindors have a Fresnel lens with microprism center underneath the ground as As you look through the finder you Will that the Fresnel lens consists of many concantric rings which provide the brightest possible Image on the ground gan The microprism is the center portion of this diagram When your subject is in fo

9. cus the image in the mieroprism will be sharp and perfectly clear V your subject is not in focus the microprism will break the image imo many small dots much like an engrav screen You can focus your subject on portion of the ground glass SHUTTER Turn the shutter spoed dial clockwise or counter clockwise to the shutter spoed desired The shutter speed may be set either before oF after cocking the rapid wind lever As you cock the shutter by turning the rapid wind lever the cocked indicator turns to red showing that the shutter is cocked The indicator window blacks out you wip the shutter button For use of the X setting on the shutter speed dial refer to page 28 16 With the shutter speed dial set on B bulb tho shutter will stay open as long as vou depress the shutter button As you release Your Finger from the shutter button the shutter closes When long exposure is desired while using tho B sorting set the shutter button lock by moving the levar to tho lett fan L becomes visible while depressing the shutter button Alternately use a cable release with locking device This will permita me exposure CAUTIONS At slow speeds slower than 1 30 support your camera rigidly or use a tripod to prevent movement of your camer To protect the shutter mechanism trip the shutter release before putting the camera out of use for any extended period CAM
10. ghtness of the ground ats Therefore the meter needie should be matched after you have focused your subject on the ground glass The area in the table indicates the reading range af the meter and should not be interpreted asthe camera s total range of stop shutter speed combinations As you will note from the table below with an 00 film you may use any shutter speed from 1 4 sec to 1 1000 sec in combination with any aper ture that will bring the meter needle to the midpoint in the viewfinder The total range of the sperture settings is of course determined by the minimum and maxi mum apertures of the lons being used For example with the 50mm 14 lens and ASAT00 film an aperture from 1 14 ihe im aperture of this lans to 1 16 imum aperture may be used with any shutter speed from 1 4 sec to 1 1000 that will bring the meter noodle to midpoint FLASH SYNCHRONIZATION The Spotmatic F has FP and X terminals at x Super Lite II which also has a flash the front of the camera body and a contact on the shoe bracket In this cav separate X contact on the builtin hot shoe there is no need to plug the flash cord into ie below shows which flash contact the X terminal on the body front which shutter speed and which bulb combined for maximum lamp The hot shoe flash contact turns to hor seitched on only when you insert a shoemount e
